Description
SCENARIO : End of an Era (2296)

SITUATION : Terran Empire v Klingons/Romulans/Others (50 v 70) - Shattered Universe

NARRATIVE :

The mighty Terran Empire had reigned supreme for almost half a century. Though its domains were often rendered little more than scorched earth between impoverished client states, no major powers existed which could pose any existential threat. The Romulans and Klingons had both made their attempts, and both had failed with disastrous, even genocidal consequences. Imperial officials boasted that both would be subjugated entirely before the century was out.

Little did they understand that the wheel of history was already turning. Restless, enslaved dissidents, naive reformists and a growing sense of unity amongst the Empire's enemies all meant that the Empire was built upon sand. All it would take was a shove in the wrong direction.

The first was the Battle of Lothos. Spotty intelligence had discovered a build-up of Klingon and Romulan forces deep within the Razed Zone, an area the Empire pretended had been "pacified" already. Seeking to smash this nascent coalition before it could start, an entire battlefleet was dispatched. Expecting to overwhelm a group of idealistic fugitives and wave the banner, the Imperial Starfleet instead found itself in the most devastating ambush in its history. The star system was a carefully-prepared quagmire, and the rag-tag enemy turned out to be a coalition of species who, combined, were an even match for any Imperial battlefleet. The result was a bloody massacre on both sides. In the event, the Anti-Terran coalition had no need to win any decisive victory. As soon as word spread of the scale of losses inflicted, the Empire began to tear itself apart from within. In a few years, the so-called "Terran Republic" would live a short, painful life before the coalition crushed it mercilessly.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS :

Anti-Terran Coalition has first turn.
