BACKUP YOUR SAVE FILES!!!
Before doing any of the steps below PLEASE backup your save files located here: %userprofile%\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077

I am not responsible for you losing any data - you've been warned.
Verify Integrity of Game Files
This is the first step you should take when attempting to fix any issue with a Steam game.
You may have already tried this, if so, then skip ahead.
Note that if you have mods you will likely have to reinstall the Core Mods (framework)[wiki.redmodding.org]

1. Navigate to "...\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\engine"
2. Delete the "shader_final.cache" and "staticshader_final.cache"
3. Right-mouse click the game and select Properties

4. Select the Installed Files tab on the left

4. Click the button 'Verify integrity of game files'

5. Wait for it to finish, and that's it!
Basic steps
Core Mods (Framework)

Disk Cleanup & Delete Temp Files
Delete everything from the following directories:
(You may receive some conflict errors - you can skip them)

%TEMP%
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CD Projekt Red
%LOCALAPPDATA%\REDEngine

If you're having trouble getting to these directories, try%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local

Disk Cleanup & Clear DirectX Shader Cache
  • Search for Disk Cleanup from the Start Menu
  • Select your main drive and click OK
  • Make sure to select DirectX Shader Cache and Temporary Files
(You can check everything if you like it won't break anything)

Disable in-game overlays
Steam Overlay
Steam > Settings
In Game > Steam Overlay

Nvidia GeForce
Open Nvidia Geforce Experience
Click on the cog wheel at the top (next to your account name)
Scroll down to toggle off 'In-Game Overlay'

Discord Overlay
Click on the cog wheel at the bottom (next to your account name)
Scroll down to Game Overlay tab
Toggle off 'Enable in-game overlay'

Anything else that displays something over the game
If you have any applications that are using overlay features, (e.g FPS Monitor, MSI Afterburner, Radeon Overlay, FRAPS, NZXT Cam, Razer Cortex, etc. etc.) disable their overlays or completely disable these applications.

Also, disable all unnecessary apps before launching the game. Including hardware monitoring and antivirus/anti-malware programs.
Run via executable
Run the game using one of the two executables from the installation directory:

...\Cyberpunk 2077\REDprelauncher.exe

...\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\Cyberpunk2077.exe

It might help to Run as Administrator
Remove all mods
Mod remover - with full backup[www.nexusmods.com]

If this mod is no longer available, go to the next step...

Clean install Cyberpunk 2077 (NUKE IT)
Make sure to backup your save files
Saves are located here: %userprofile%\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077

Disable Cloud Saves feature for Cyberpunk 2077 if you have it enabled
Uninstall Cyberpunk 2077

Delete:
  • Cyberpunk 2077 folder in your client’s directory (Steam, GOG, EGS)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 folder from here: %userprofile%\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\
  • REDEngine folder from here %userprofile%\AppData\Local\
  • CD Projekt Red folder from here: %userprofile%\AppData\Local

Restart your PC
Install Cyberpunk 2077 again, on SSD

If you install the game on the same partition as you have the Operating System installed, ensure that the game isn’t blocked by Windows permissions settings -> install it on the drive root, not nested in some folders. Example path after installation: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077.

Copy your save files to the newly created Cyberpunk 2077 folder in the location from step #1.
Run the game and see if it helped with the issue you encountered.
Re-enable Cloud Saves feature if you want.

Alternative: The nuclear option: a clean install[wiki.redmodding.org]
!!! Disable Overclocking & XMP Profiles !!!
This is a more advanced solution, but this is the ONLY solution that actually worked FOR ME. Hopefully it works for some of you as well.

RECOMMENDED BY CDPR:
  • Set Power Limit (TJ max) for CPU to 150W
  • Reduce Long and Short Duration Package Power Limit to 150 W (Intel default is 253)
  • Set the maximum CPU Core Temperature to 98°
  • Reduce the P-Core ratio of the processor
  • Deactivate Turbo Boost of the CPU
  • Disable CPU Hyper-Threading

This greatly depends on your motherboards manufacturer. Google your motherboard model (e.g. GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ELITE) and look up the Owners Guide. In here you can find the BIOS/UEFI settings to disable all overclocking. Look around for anything that mentions Overclocking (OC) or Performance Boosts for your hardware.

For me, I had to disable 3 settings for OC/Boost Clock. DO NOT change the clock rate of your GPU and CPU. Any kind of overclocking or underclocking may result in flatline crashes and inadvertently cause permanent damage to your hardware.

https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/cyberpunk/pc/sp-technical/issue/1700/my-game-crashes-7

Same goes with your memory (RAM). Do not overclock, and DISABLE Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.). Disable these from the BIOS, and any applications that came with the hardware that's running in the background or your System Tray. (See Disable in-game overlay section for examples of what might do this).

Downclocking (do at your own risk) https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/16pluqw/comment/k2f1wwh/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Check your antivirus software
Add Cyberpunk2077.exe, Redlauncher.exe, Steam.exe, GOG.exe, etc. as an exception to your antivirus software. Whether it be Advanced Thread Defense, Ransomware Protection, Real-time protection, scanning, etc. Add the various executables and directories as an exception.

Windows Defender
  • Open Device Protection
  • Click on “Windows Security Administration”
  • Open ransomware protection administration
  • Open “Allow App by folder Access”
  • Open “add allowed app”
  • Choose Cyberpunk 2077.exe

Cyberpunk 2077 encountered an error caused by corrupted or incomplete game data
There are three potential fixes:
  • Run as Admin
  • Run without antivirus
  • Workaround suggested by CDPR:

Set Power Limit (TJ max) for CPU to 150W
Reduce Long and Short Duration Package Power Limit to 150 W (Intel default is 253)
Set the maximum CPU Core Temperature to 98°
Reduce the P-Core ratio of the processor
Deactivate Turbo Boost of the CPU
Disable CPU Hyper-Threading

Cyberpunk 2077 encountered an error caused by a corrupt or missing script file and will now be forced to close. Please verify...

You have a problem with Red4ext.

If you are using RED4ext >= 1.13, uninstall cybercmd if you have it — it's no longer necessary and can cause false positives.

The first step whenever you run into this error is deleting the folder r6/cache and verifying your game files.

If that doesn't help, it's time for more detailed troubleshooting:
  • If you are on Linux, make sure to double-check the launch options as Steam sometimes resets these between updates
  • if you don't have red4ext/logs/red4ext.log, then RED4ext doesn't work, you have to update / fix RED4ext
  • if you have red4ext/logs/red4ext.log, then look inside, it will tell you which mods aren't compatible with the current game patch and may be the cause of this issue
  • if that doesn't help, go to https://wiki.redmodding.org/cyberpunk-2077-modding/for-mod-users/user-guide-troubleshooting#3.-reset-redscript in the corresponding section (you will need to verify your game files).

If that doesn't work try the following articles:

https://wiki.redmodding.org/cyberpunk-2077-modding/for-mod-users/user-guide-troubleshooting#0.-make-sure-that-you-dont-have-multiple-versions-of-codeware-installed

https://wiki.redmodding.org/cyberpunk-2077-modding/for-mod-users/user-guide-troubleshooting#step-1-temporarily-disable-all-your-mods
Other possible solutions
  • Run SFC /scannow, memtest86+, diskcleanup, etc.
  • Damaged/dying hardware (typically GPU)
  • Overheating hardware components (typically GPU or CPU)
  • Check the game is added as an exception in your firewall
  • Increase Shader Cache Size; Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Shader Cache Size
  • Re-install Windows on a clean partition, and/or a different SSD
  • https://wiki.redmodding.org/cyberpunk-2077-modding/for-mod-users/user-guide-troubleshooting
  • Pirated game? That's your own damn fault. BUY THE GAME, or GLHF

Crash logs
Log files are typically only produced/updated if the game launches...

%LOCALAPPDATA%\REDEngine
  • redscript - r6\logs\redscript_rCURRENT.log
  • red4ext - red4ext\logs\red4ext.log
  • ArchiveXL - red4ext\plugins\ArchiveXL\ArchiveXL.log
  • TweakXL - red4ext\plugins\TweakXL\TweakXL.log
  • Cyber Engine Tweaks - bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\cyber_engine_tweaks.log

Thanks! I have a GOG version (2.0 downgrade), but found solution to my problems here, do not own a steam version. At first I tried to do only software fixes (GPU drivers, disk cleanup etc). It worked, game started to run without hard crashes every 5 minutes. But around every 15 minutes there were sudden lags and stutters for arond a minute or two, then back to normal. GPU and CPU temperature were fine, % of use only at around 60-70. Tryed to go at minimal graphics options, didn't work. Then I overlocked my GPU (2060 super) for +20%, run the game and got my system focked and fliped to blue screen right that moment.
Got to bios, turned off every overlocking thing at my motherboard (xmp too), defaulted my afterburner and the game works flawles.
Thank you OP, if anybody finds himself with my kind of situation, do all the steps in this guide, dont skip anything.

It looks like 2.02 broke the game again, especially mods. See this post to help get it back up in the meantime: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/11748838-mod-settings/page-154#entry129723524

I have tried everything on this thread and unfortunately has not fixed any issues, nor has patch 2.02 fixed anything. From what it looks like, it only made more people crash now lol. No resources are maxed out on my pc, and the only last guess I have it that its my ram speed at 2000 which I am unable to change. I can only hope one day I will return to this game.
Bullet_Catcher*  [autor(a)] 25/out./2023 às 15:01
Yes, you have to create that folder if it doesn't exist.
Supbro112 24/out./2023 às 18:00
For the R6 error. is the r6/cache/modded supposed to be a new folder I create inside of the same r6/cache folder? or is there a different directory that has the r6/cache/modded folder? I didnt have one in my r6/cache.
