What is "Old Gold"
“Old Gold” is a palette that unlocks by completing the main questline (other quests like xenobiology don't matter) in hardcore mode. You must use the following parameters in order to qualify:
  • Limit Respawns: Active
  • Default Respawn Count: 0
  • Free Oxygen: Off
To get it, you need to activate the cores of all planets and activate the satellite without dying once.
Savefile
If you're lazy, you can just download the save file.

1. Download the savefile.[drive.google.com]
2. Go to ... AppData\Local\Astro\Saved\SaveGames and paste the savefile there.
You can find AppData by pressing Win+R and typing %appdata%, then just hit Enter.

3. Launch the game and load the "SES HARDCORE MODE_1".
4. Activate the odd stone.
5. GG, you just unlocked it.
But what if you want to do it yourself?
You must start a new custom game with:
  • Limit Respawns: Active
  • Default Respawn Count: 0
  • Free Oxygen: Off

The rest of the parameters don't matter, so you can cheese them by changing multipliers, like oxygen consumption or giving yourself a starting items like RTG or hoverboard and etc.
Also, don't get yourself too many research points like 999999999 because the game will just glitch and you won't be able to unlock anything.

If you're afraid of dying and losing all your progress, you can make a backup by copying your save file to another location. For this you must:
1. Save the game
2. Go to AppData\Local\Astro\Saved\SaveGames
3. Create a "New Folder"
4. Copy your savefile in your new folder.

If you died, just simply delete your file and paste your backup file there (also, you must restart the game after that)
Before you left
If i helped you, please leave a like and i wish you good luck!
p.s. sorry for bad english idk

yeah i read the area where you pretty much said that, but im still including that for people who dont really wanna mess around with backup files and stuff, and i was just talking from experience for what worked for me (i also read the thing with just add stuff to your backpack, but i didnt use that in my run)

a massive tip if your doing it legitimetly, you can just make a dupe of the hard mode save file, and simply load it if you die, acting as a manual save of sorts. i also suggest doing the xenobiology quest at least till you get rogal, so you can use stilgar and princess to become immortal, along with rogal for easy hoverboard use
