'84-'90 Ibishu Serenity

In 1984, Ibishu already took over Japanese and US market by storm with their cheap and affordable cars, however they were in desperate need of a luxury class car for the growing market for them in Japan. So they have come up with a 4.78m long fullsize sedan featuring a selection of high end interior materials and sturdy V8 and V10 engines. These cars were not only expensive to produce, but they also were not available for a general customer, hence they have become a true status symbol in 80s. During the limited production, Ibishu sold around 2000 vehicles mainly in the Japanese market with some being exported into other Asian countries. It was available in sedan, LWB and limousine variations.

The Signia kicked off in 1973 with 5 JDM trims under the Signia insignia, and 2 export trims under the BX insignia. The only engines available at this time were the C16 I4 worldwide and the C20 and T20R I6's available in Japan only for the GT trims. Then in 1974 after seeing the initial success, more engines were introduced such as the C24 export I6 and the Y12 Rotary as well as many more trims and upgraded versions of previous trims. Along with this upgrade saw the introduction of fuel injection and a catalytic converter for Ibishu IEFS as well as bigger regulation 5mph bumpers for USDM models. Ibishu produced many more generations of Signia/BX including the 200BX we know and love and the Signia from KLJP.

'79-'07 TAZ Mir / '80-'14 TAZ Baikal

TAZ Mir was an ordinary family sedan produced since 1976 in the Soviet Union until 2007 in Russia. Back in 1973 TAZ (Тольяттинский Aвтомобильный Завод, Tolyatti Automotive Plant) asked Ibishu if they could build a car of their own based on Ibishu's around 5 year old Miramar platform. Ibishu approved the decision and in 1976 the first TAZ Mir rolled off the production line. It was offered with multiple (not so) different engine options and a few colors to choose from. It was quite successful in rallying and it won most competitions it entered. The production of the early model TAZ Mir lasted until 1986 when it was decided to update the vehicle to be more safe and modern looking. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in the beginning of the 90s the production started to slow down due to limited amount of resources. It took TAZ a few years to get the production back to where it was before the collapse of the Soviet Union. TAZ Mir continued to be sold just like it was before without any sort of updates beeing made to it. The production of it lasted until 2007 when TAZ decided to stop producing the iconic Mir.


TAZ Baikal was the first modern SUV produced by the Soviet automaker TAZ in the Soviet Union since 1981, until 2014 in Russia. In 1975, when TAZ Mir was still a year away from being introduced, TAZ decided to start developing a new SUV based on the TAZ Mir platform, which would be the first unibody construction SUV in the world. Developing of the vehicle took 5 years when it was finally released in 1980. The only engine offered in the first 11 years of it beeing in production was the 1.5l engine from the TAZ Mir which barely compensated for the torque the small SUV really needed. In 1991, TAZ partnered up with Autobello, the famous Italian car company and TAZ started using Autobello 1.7 liter turbo diesel 4 cylinder engines for TAZ Baikal as well as the TAZ Mir which recieved it in 1993. Most Baikal's after the year 1992 recieved the bulletproof Autobello powerplant, thanks to it having lots of torque. In 1993 Baikal was facelifted with a more plasticy and modern look. It recieved the more modern door styling as well as interior from the late model TAZ Mir, which was already in producion since 1986. The updated Baikal lasted until 2014, when it recieved a slight facelift for it to be sent off after beeing in production for 34 years.
