Gears 5: How to Change The Game Language (Quick Guide)

This is just a quick guide. You may already know this feature but some people like me may end up struggling since I didn't find anybody answering this on internet. So this is just a quick helper.

(Steam Only) Changing Game Language By Properties Menu

1. First, search for "Gears 5" on your Steam library and select the game.



2. Then go to the "engine" and select "Properties".



3. The menu will already be open on the "General", there you can find the option to change the language.



Vouilà. After selecting it the game will give a short update and it's ready to play on the desired language

(Steam and Microsoft Store) Changing "GameUserSettings.ini" File

1. Find the directory. The directory where the file is should be the following: "C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Gears5\Saved\Config\PC"
Tip: You can press "Win + R" and type "%appdata%" to go to "C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\Roaming" folder as shortcut.



Also copy "GameUserSettings.ini" file to your desktop as backup if something doesnt go right (you can also repair files by properties tab later)

3. Open the GameUserSettings.ini file with any text editor

4. In the file look for the line "PreferredLanguageCode=" and fill in with the language of choice, for example EN, and boot the game.
Now it should be in English if you put "EN" or in the language of your choice according the selected language code.

(Steam and Microsoft Store) Changing Computer Language

You can also trying to change your computer language to change Gears 5 language.

Select Start > Settings > Time & language > Language & region.

Choose a language from the Windows display language menu.

If a language is listed under Preferred languages but doesn't appear on the Windows display language list, you'll first need to install its language pack (if it's available).

Select Start > Settings > Time & language > Language & region.

In Preferred languages, select Add a language, enter the language you want, then select Next.

Select Download from the Download language pack option.

After the language pack is installed, select Back.

Choose a language from the Windows display language menu.
