Farafra 👉 Wehat Ta-iht
Dakhla 👉 Wehat Mut
Dungul 👉 Wehat Tungul
Northern Oasis 👉 Wehat Mehtet
Also Kelone (formation) 👉 Khelowne
The game gives the Mycenaean term for testudo as Kelone but kelone is actually a very crude transcription of a very late Ancient Greek form of the same word, which would be more like khelowne in actual Mycenaean.
+ The references to ‘Africa’, such as the flavour text for Nubian Bowmen, is thematically incorrect because Africa is what the continent that houses Egypt is called today , but the modern name derives from a completely different location (Carthage) and also the very concept of ‘Africa’ as a continent is a later invention and it did not even originally include anything east of the Nile. Contextually ‘The Two Lands’ or ‘Nile Valley’ would be better choices.
Also Sinai 👉 Biau or Khetiu Mafkat.
Also as far as I understand, while the Jerusalem of this era was internationally known as Urushalim, its actual inhabitants referred to it just as Shalem, or Beth-Shalem, so while the faction name is best left as Urushalim (or perhaps Urusalim because the game is inconsistent and arbitrarily represents š as s in one place (Suppiluliuma) and as sh in another (Urushalim)), the settlement name should probably be Beth-Shalem.
Kharga 👉 Wehat Resyt (same)
Rhacotis 👉 Ra-ked (Greek vs. Egyptian name; same situation as oases)
Western Desert 👉 Deshret-amentiu (self-explanatory; no idea why the devs went with the English name)
Sukkot 👉 Tjeku (Hebrew vs. Egyptian name; honestly unsure about this change because the faction that occupies that settlement is Canaanite)
And then there is this fact that none of the names are in their actual 1200 BC Egyptian form. For instance were the game going for entirely authentic nomenclature, Memphis would be Mounnefah rather than Mennefer, and Abydos would be Abarter rather than Abdju. But then again Urushalim is rather accurately Urushalim. The names in this game are all over the place.
Also Shechem has been proposed to be renamed Rabbath Ammon https://steamcommunity.com/app/1937780/discussions/0/4293692344082388100/
I think that the Great Temple of Abydos monument should be renamed to the Great Temple of Abdju or the Temple of Seti I as well. From what I can tell, 'Abydos' is a Greek name for Abdju, like how they called Waset 'Thebes'.
