Problem
In order to play private matches in CS2 you have to enable port forwarding for some stupid reason or wait for valve to eventually, or hopefully, fix the problem.
What is Port Fowarding
Think of a router as a house for the devices (computers, consoles, phones, etc) on the network. When port forwarding is enabled you are letting other people enter your networks house.

The outside connection has to go through a port forwarded connection to get to your router. Once there the traffic that person creates goes to the computer hosting the server or private game.

If you invite good people to your house then they'll chill in your house playing games and such. For the contrary it's the opposite. In order for people to connect to your house you first have to enable port forwarding on your router, once you enabled port forwarding they will have to put in your public ip. Which reveals what internet service provider you have and your approximate location. So it's good to only hand out your connection to people you trust. So you should scale what the consequences may be if you want to play with your friends on a server or in Counter Strike on a private game.
Getting Required Information
Firstly you should see if your internet service provider even allows port forwarding in the first place, it will be in their terms of service somewhere. Once you're sure if port forwarding is even possible. Go to your router and record the admin password on the back. There should be a sticker somewhere on the routers back containing the routers password. Your network and wifi passwords are different.

In order to enable port forwarding for CS2 we will first need to open the console or "command prompt" of windows. Go to the search bar in the bottom left of your screen and type "console" and open the command windows. Once you're in the console type "ipconfig" (without quotations) and make note of the IPV4 address (for example; 192.168.1.168) and the url that appears. For each internet service provider, the website will be different.
Enabling Port Fowarding
Once you have your device IP (example, 192.168.1.168) and your routers admin panel link (example, myfiosgateway .com) then you will need to go to your admin panel login. and enter your admin router password. Don't worry if the site says something along the
lines of "not secure." Just make sure you typed the correct web address.

EACH ADMIN PANEL WILL LOOK DIFFERENT ACCORDING TO YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER

Once you're into the admin panel, then you will need to find a section dedicated to port fowarding. If you don't find it immediately, then look around for a bit. It may be under advanced settings/firewall.

When you're at the port forwarding page you'll want to find the area where you can add a rule/connection.

  • Choose name of connection (doesn't matter)
  • Enter 27015 as both original port and fwd to port
  • Enter device ip as fwd to address
  • Set schedule to always
  • Set protocol to both (UDP and TCP) or make two separate connections for UDP and TCP if you don't have a both option.
In Game
Make sure you restart your game after you enabled porg forwarding!
Once you're in game invite your friends to the party and then make a private game. If you completed the steps correctly then your friends should be able to successfully load in with you. If not redo the guide or look at the comments to see if the method has stopped working. If you can't figure out what's wrong make a comment. Remember you can always do "bot_kick" in console to get rid of bots! Have fun (:

Also thanks to Obi-Wan Gaming, forinfish, and Your Local Idiot for helping me test this method.
