Intro
There are 50 achievements in total.

This guide should minimise the amount of times you have to replay the game to get 100%. It is possible to get 100% in one playthrough without having to reload saves as none of the factions compete with each other, unlike the Elder Scrolls/Fallout universes. However, you will likely find a lot of the achievements easier with the benefits you get from NG+.

I have tried to keep it as spoiler free as possible, but have included pertinent decision outcomes to give you an idea of what to expect from each choice throughout the faction arcs.

There are no NG+ specific achievements.

Some notes:
  • Using the console or mods will void achievements unless you use an achievement enabler mod like this one[www.nexusmods.com].
  • Numeric totals are carried across subsequent games so you don't have to collect 500 inorganic resources or reach level 100 in one playthrough.
  • NG+ resets everything except your skills and powers. You lose all your gear, relationships etc. You start immediately after the prologue mission where you leave Vectera and fly to New Atlantis to meet Constellation. See the section at the end for some more general NG+ observations.

Use Ctrl+F to find a specific achievement, or skip to the relevant section using the section headings as required.

Main Quest
The achievements in this section are unmissable and are part of the main storyline.

For All, Into the Starfield
Enter Space for the First Time
This achievement will occur when you takeoff from Vectera after the prologue.

One Small Step
Join Constellation
This is achieved by visiting the Lodge and meeting Sarah and the Constellation crew in New Atlantis.

Into the Unknown
Complete "Into the Unknown"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 5th mission in the main questline.

This mission sees you collect artifacts from 2 out of a possible 6 outposts.
The achievement will drop once you have solved the floating ring puzzle in Temple Eta on Procyon III. To solve the puzzle, fly into the light beam.

All That Money Can Buy
Complete "All That Money Can Buy"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 6th mission in the main quest line.

It doesn't matter if you take the violent or peaceful option when negotiating with the Seller or Slayton, but the peaceful option may be faster and avoid you getting a bounty if you have a shootout in the club.

Further Into the Unknown
Complete "Further Into the Unknown"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 8th mission in the main quest line, after Starborn.

This mission sees you collect artifacts from 2 out of a possible 6 outposts.
The achievement will drop once you return to the Lodge and add the artifacts to the collection.

High Price to Pay
Complete "High Price to Pay"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 11th mission in the main quest line, after No Sudden Moves.

This mission will see you presented with 2 choices, the consequences of which will have significant ramifications: One of your followers will die .
  • Choice 1: Defend the Lodge
  • Choice 2: Go to the Eye
This Reddit article explains how the outcome is determined but I've summarised it in the spoiler:
TLDR; the companion with the highest affinity will be killed if you stay at the Lodge, the one with the second highest will be killed if you go to the Eye
Whilst not relevant for the achievement, it is probably worth keeping this in mind...

In Their Footsteps
Complete "In Their Footsteps"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 13th mission in the main quest line, after Unity.

It's pretty straightforward, just talk to the Emissary and the Hunter.

Unearthed
Complete "Unearthed"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 15th mission in the main quest line, after Missed Beyond Measure.

Visit the Moon and NASA and fight your way through until you get the Artifact. You will then be presented with a choice:
  • Decide that The Emissary is right and the Artifacts should be protected and kept in safe hands
  • Side with The Hunter, declaring that whoever gets the Artifacts first gets the power
  • Shun both The Emissary and The Hunter
The implications of your choice won't be realised until the penultimate mission.

Benefits of each choice: If you side with either, they will help you against the other in the space fight above Masada III as well as the following fights before you enter the temple, and in the final fight against the other Starborn. If you side with neither then you will have to fight them both in space above Masada III, and fight all the Guardians on the ground alone.
How to make the final fight faster: It is possible to avoid the final fight sequence in the temple through negotiating - good to know when you're up to you're doing this fight for the 6th time....

Entangled
Complete "Entangled"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 17th mission in the main quest line, after Final Glimpses.

You'll be presented with another major decision but this doesn't impact the story or achievement. It is possible to rescue both Rafael and the people on the station by following the steps here

One Giant Leap
Complete "One Giant Leap"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 19th mission in the main quest line, after Revelation.

You will get this achievement once you pass through the Unity and become Starborn. Once you have installed the Armillary on you ship, the next time you power up the Grav drive you will automatically enter the Unity. You can turn back and return to your universe without going into the next iteration of NG+, and then remove the Armillary to continue your current playthrough as normal.
Faction Related
UC Vanguard

Supra et Ultra
Join the UC Vanguard
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the first mission of the UC Vanguard quest line.

This can be achieved immediately after you finish the first main story mission and arrive in New Atlantis. The achievement will drop once you have proven your aptitude in the flight simulator and sworn the oath.

Note: there is no benefit in going beyond Tier III in the sim, besides some small unique dialogue from CMDR Tuala.

The Devils You Know
Complete "The Devils You Know"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 6th mission in the UC Vanguard quest line, after Friends Like These.

This achievement will drop after you have collected the evidence from "The Warlock" and spoken to Vae Victis.

A Legacy Forged
Complete "A Legacy Forged"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 9th and final mission in the UC Vanguard quest line, after Hostile Intelligence.

The achievement drops once you have made your decision with the Cabinet. If you tell Hadrian about Vae Victis you lose the ability to do the repeatable Preventitive Action quest for him, and his offscreen death nets you no rewards . Deciding whether to destroy the Lazarus plant / use the Aceles or Microbe only affects companion affinity and does not change your reward.

Freestar Rangers

Deputized [sic]
Join the Freestar Rangers
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 2nd mission in the Freestar Rangers quest line, after Job Gone Wrong.

You may be able to do this mission before advancing the main quest to get Same Coe as a companion if you travel directly to Akila City first. It requires you to finish one radiant quest from the mission board first.

Surgical Strike
Complete "Surgical Strike"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 5th mission in the Freestar Rangers quest line, after Shadows in Neon.

The achievement will drop once you give the data slate Alex Shadid. You can complete this before On The Run or get both data slates and had them in at the same time. There is no benefit to killing Maya Cruz .

The Hammer Falls
Complete "The Hammer Falls"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 8th and final mission in the Freestar Rangers quest line, after First to Fight, First to Die.

This achievement drops after you've spoken to Marshal Blake and received your Ranger badge. How you deal with Ron has no bearing on the achievement, but if you kill him you don't get any of the cash, and your Companion will abandon you. If you keep his secret for his employee's, you get nothing and he lives.

Ryujin Industries
Ryujin Industries is closest to the Thieves Guild from the Elder Scrolls Series. Despite what they say, you won't fail the mission if you enter combat or don't use stealth, but your reward will be reduced - so feel free to go in guns blazing. With that being said, using persuasion often makes the mission a lot easier by allowing you to avoid a lot of fights/sneaking.

Back to the Grind
Join Ryujin Industries
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the first mission of the Ryujin Industries quest line.

To join Ryujin Industries head to Neon on Volii Alpha and go to the HQ complex on the Eastern side. Go to the kiosk to fill out the application and follow the quest objectives. The achievement will drop once you've met all the execs and given them coffee.

Guilty Parties
Complete "Guilty Parties"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 10th mission in the Ryujin Industries quest line after Background Checks.

This achievement will drop after you have spoken to Masako after listening to the meeting. Your decisions in this mission will have significant impact on the ending of the Ryujin Industries story arc, potentially closing off one of the possible conclusions.
  • If you side with Ularu, Imogene won't return - so you may as well kill her for her suit.
  • If you decide to help Imogene and talk to Dalton, Ularu will be terminated from Ryujin and this will close of one potential decision in the final mission.

Executive Level
Complete "Executive Level"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 14th and final mission in the Ryujin Industries quest line after Sabotage.

This achievement will drop after you talk to Masako after the board meeting. Your choice in incorporating Infinity LTD, making Ularu the CEO, or discontinuing the Neuroamp have no bearing on the achievement and a negligible influence on your reward.

Crimson Fleet
This walkthrough assumes that you remain friendly with the UC Sysdef throughout by not taking the violent route through each mission. If you do so for 2 missions, you will be kicked out of the UC Sysdef and they will treat you as an enemy and shoot on sight. They are a separate faction from the broader United Colonies and are specific only to this quest line, so you will not be treated as hostile by other UC defenders.

Rook Meets King
Join the Crimson Fleet
Complete the mission Rook Meets King to unlock this achievement. This is the 2nd mission in the Crimson Fleet quest line, after Deep Cover.

The achievement will drop after you deal with Austin Rake and finish the long tour on the Key and meet Delgado.

The Best There Is
Complete "The Best There Is"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 5th mission in the Crimson Fleet quest line, after Breaking the Bank.

The achievement will drop after you've reported back to CMDR Ikande on the UC Vigilance after infiltrating SY-920 and stealing the prototype ship, by force or by smooth talking your way through - assuming you are still undercover.

Legacy's End
Complete "Legacy's End"
Complete the mission of the same name to unlock this achievement. This is the 9th and final mission in the Crimson Fleet quest line, after Eye of the Storm.

The achievement will drop after you've stormed either the Vigilance or the Key, after killing Delgado or CMDR Ikande depending on your choice.
Both get you 250,000 credits. You will get the unique armour and weapons of the person you kill but lose access to UC Vigilance/The Key - including the traders. Companions dislike you siding with Crimson Fleet.
Levelling
Dust Off
Reach Level 5

Traveler
Reach Level 10

Elite
Reach Level 25

Space Opera
Reach Level 50

This one will take a bit of effort, given Starfield's currently painful levelling system. XP will drop off significantly around this point.

Reach for the Stars
Reach Level 100
G R I N D

If you don't use mods to change the XP gain for activities then you have well and truly earnt this achievement.
Companions
The Family You Choose
Recruit 10 Separate Companions
Recruit any 10 from the list below. Only named crew count towards this total.

These numbers are NOT cumulative and you must recruit 10 in one playthrough. Only the first 5 are unmissable, the rest requires you to recruit them directly through dialogue, even if you meet them as part of the campaign.

I will add to this list as I discover more.

You can view/manage your companions under Ship --> Crew

Relationships
Starcrossed
Reach Maximum Relationship Level with a Companion
Only Sarah Morgan, Sam Coe, Barrett and Andreja are romanceable. The achievement drops after you have completed the COMMITMENT: Companion Name quest.

  • To build affinity, keep them as your companion during your adventures and talk to them regularly. Pick the [FLIRT] option wherever possible to advance your relationship with them. On completion of their companion quest, select [ROMANCE] and then [COMMITMENT] option in the next dialogue. Once you have married them, the achievement will drop.
  • Pretty much all the companions dislike criminal/violent activities and will leave you on the spot if you choose the violent option instead of peacefully resolving a situation. If you do want to try this, you can leave your companions behind and pick them up again after your crime spree/massacre.
  • If you see a dialogue option with [companion name] in front of it, use it! They will speak their dialogue instead of you, and they will like it.
  • You can use aid items like Paramour to increase companion affinity faster for 10 minutes, and spam the quicksave function to see how each companion reacts to dialouge choices.

Special mention for Andreja - whilst she doesn't "like" crime, she's the only one who does not seem to care if you steal things.
Crafting/Outposts
Home Sweet Home
Build an Outpost
All you have to do is go to a planet and plonk down an outpost beacon.

You can't build near points of interest like existing outposts, cities etc., but you can build on already settled planets if you want.

Shipping Magnate
Connect 5 Outposts with Cargo Links
Simply build 5 connected pairs of cargo links - they can even be on the same planet.

Keep in mind one cargo pad can only link to one other cargo pad so you will have to build and connect 5 separate pairs. The one you interact with will be the one which draws resources from whichever other cargo link you select.

Industrialist
Produce 500 Total Resources from Outposts
You can do this with one resource generator and a bed.

Resources are collected in game time, not real time so just build one (or multiple resource collectors to make it faster) and then sleep repeatedly or go to a planet with longer days and sleep there.

Rock Collection
Collect 500 Inorganic Resources
Inorganic resources are things like minerals and gases that are on most planets or in the mines.

This one is a bit easier than Life Begets Life. You can spam the Elemental Pull Power whilst boostpacking along to quickly harvest resources from the surface in a wide radius around you. Also, it's fun to do in the caverns where the Artifacts are as you harvest all the surrounding mineral deposits instantly!

Life Begets Life
Collect 500 Organic Resources
There's a reason only 0.7% of all players have achieved this...

This one is a pain. Organic resources, from my understanding, can only be gotten from plants. Unlike Rock Collection, you can't use a Power to mass collect.

The fastest way to boost this is to find a clump of plants and use the Eternal Harvest Power to refresh the resources in your area and just run between the plants until you hit 500. I had to grind this one.

Chief Engineer
Modify a Ship
Just go to the ship trader and modify one element of your ship to get this achievement.

Soldier of Fortune
Mod 50 Weapons
Use a weapons workbench to make 50 weapon mods.

Despite the description, you don't have to modify 50 weapons, just craft 50 weapon mods. Remember, removing a mod counts as 'crafting' a mod, so you can just swap between a short barrel and a standard barrel on a Coachman shotgun 25 times using just iron, nickel and sealant.

Replicator
Craft 100 Items
Both pharmaceutical and industrial items count towards this, so just spam Adaptive Frames for 1 aluminium and 1 iron.

Exploration
Stellar Cartography
Visit 20 Star Systems
Pretty self explanatory and should be achievable in your first playthrough.

You can keep track of how many systems you have visited in the Status page under "Exploration"

The Stars My Destination
Visit All Star Systems
The description is incorrect - you only have to visit 120 "unique" star systems.

Tally is cumulative across playthroughs, but each NG resets which ones you've visited, so you can visit the same 12 across 10 playthroughs to get this total.

Given you have to visit at least 6 as part of Among The Stars for NG+, plus others along the way, you will probably get this without too much effort by your final playthrough. Otherwise just hop between systems until you get the required number.

You can tell which systems you've visited in each playthrough because when you select them in the galaxy map, the ones you have visited will have more info such as number of planets, temperatures etc. whereas unvisited ones will have no info except name and level.

You can keep track of how many systems you have visited in the Status page under "Exploration"

Boots on the Ground
Land on 100 Planets
Similar to The Stars My Destination, but you have to land instead of just visiting the system. You don't have to get out of your ship.

Again, should be achievable without too much effort and you can see how many systems you have landed on in the Status page under "Exploration"
Misc
Fixer
Complete 30 Activities
You can track your activities under the Activities tab. Just complete 30.

Privateer
Complete 30 Terminal or Misc. Missions
These are missions you get at the mission boards in cities and starports for each faction. Just complete 30.

Cyber Jockey
Bypass 50 Digital Locks
This requires at least one point in the Security skill within the Tech tree. Should be achievable throughout the campaign without too much effort.

Jacked In
Access 50 Computers
This requires at least one point in the Security skill within the Tech tree. Should be achievable throughout the campaign without too much effort. Only locked terminals count towards this.

War of Angels
Collect 20 Quantum Essence
Every time you kill a Starborn guardian you get Quantum Essence.

You will fight a number during the campaign, and also every time you complete a Temple. You should be able to get this in your first playthrough.

Fleet Commander
Collect 10 Ships
You can add ships to your fleet by purchasing them from Ship Services Technicians or by boarding them in space once you have taken out their engines, and then landing on any planet. Just boarding it and sitting in the pilot chair is insufficient to make it yours.

You can also steal the ones you see landing on planets as part of a random encounter once you have killed the crew. You don't have to register the ships for them to count towards this total.

A good tip from mister_lobos is to sell your ships after getting the achievement, as you can't have more than 10 and you won't be able to capture another when you hit that limit without abandoning one of your ships!

Thirst for Knowledge
Read 20 Skill Magazines
Skill magazines are those unique named magazines that give you a permanent buff.

They are not reset throughout each NG+ but you should be able to find 20 easily throughout your playthrough. Otherwise, you can watch the video below for a guide.

Dark Matter
Eliminate 300 Human Enemies
You'll get this easily unless you are intentionally playing as a pacifist.

Another Bug Hunt
Eliminate 300 Creatures
Only Fauna found on planets count towards this, so you will have to visit planets outside the story to get this number up.

I Use Them For Smuggling
Successfully Smuggle Contraband
In order to smuggle contraband, you need to have a Shielded Cargo Hold and store the contraband in it, not on your person.

A Shielded Cargo Hold can be purchased from Lon Anderssen, an NPC located on the Red Mile on Porrima III. You can also purchase these items from Jasmine Durand, the Ship Services Technician on The Key
  • You can increase the chance of evading detection through the Deception social skill and using Scan Jammers which can be purchased from the aforementioned Ship Services Technicians.
  • Your Starborn Guardian ship comes with a 150 tonne capacity Shielded Cargo Hold.
  • You can see if you have a shielded cargo hold and its capacity under the ship overview.
  • Your ship will only be scanned in systems controlled by the United Colonies or Freestar Collective.
  • Contraband can be sold to Trade Authority Vendors.
Some non-achievement tips for NG+
There are no achievements tied to NG+, but I've included some general observations here which may assist you as you go through your later playthroughs.

  • The best armour is unlocked after your 10th playthrough, but the best ship is unlocked after the NG+6.
  • Your powers can be improved 10 x in total, once per temple per power per playthrough. This is not tied to any achievements. There is an incredibly useful mod [www.nexusmods.com] which lowers the number of light things you have to fly through each time to complete the puzzle from 5 to 1. Alternatively this one[www.nexusmods.com]completes the challenge for you - no action required!
  • I advise not skipping the main quest unless you are speed running to get to NG+10 because doing so blocks off all your companions except Vasco and Sarah.
  • If you save before you enter the Unity you can game what starting scenario you have if you end up with one you don't want.
  • Your game may glitch where you can't access your inventory or save. The only solution is to load a save before you entered the Unity.
Conclusion
If you made it this far, congratulations! Hopefully by now you should also have 100% achievements.

If you have any feedback or thoughts, please leave a comment!

Thanks for letting me know, looks like I'm going to have to head back and check it out!
AmethystFlover Oct 29, 2023 @ 9:01am
On your companions list, you're missing a few, there's Ezekiel who's free to recruit from Aggie's, just gotta talk to him. Lyle Brewer is also recruitable there, gotta pay for him. There's also a companion I won't spoil from the mission 'Operation Starseed'. Finishing the UC, Freestar Collective and Crimson Fleet/SysDef story-lines can also give you access to one companion each (which can be decision dependent, you can lock yourself out of getting some of them).

Thanks @mister_lobos and AmethystFlover for your points on Andreja, will update!
Appreciate the point on the ships, will add that in as well
AmethystFlover Oct 13, 2023 @ 2:35am
Would like to point out you have copied Vasco's skills onto Heller in the companions section. Andreja has Theft and gives you Credits as a companion gift, and I don't think she's ever had a problem with me stealing. But that part could just be her not knowing that I've stolen since the AI is weird and sometimes has the companion hang around far from you before suddenly dashing over.
mister_lobos Oct 12, 2023 @ 1:24pm
for fleet commander i would really like to add, once you get the achievement SELL one or more ships.. unless they changed it recently, you can ONLY have 11 ships, then if you try to take another one it will force you to abandon it or just delete another ship. of course i found that out the hard way.

i very much appreciate the section on companions.. tho i do find it odd if Andreja dislikes "criminal activities" i have stolen stuff in front of her and she didn't mind.. pretty sure i even picked the lock on a parked ship to take it and she didn't mind, but that might have been Sarah. though both did complain about me saying i would to the bartender.
