A short answer for those in a hurry.
If you happy owner of a medium video card price segment for example GTX 3060 or AMD analog then your PC is enough powerful to run cs2 with normal framerate I advise you to turn this off setting because it will harm the graphics much more than the increase in FPS, even more so
if your video card looks something like this
Owners of older video cards it is worth considering inclusion options this setting I can't get everything possible configurations and select best settings for each but I can tell me what it is technology how it works what rely when choosing this setting
How did upscale come about?
Once upon a time when dinosaurs walked the earth
at low FPS the extreme measure was
lower screen resolution quality
the pictures in this case fell a lot but
how to get better performance and
at the same time not to lose quality
NVIDIA thought so.
About DLSS - the predecessor of FSR
The technology was released in February 2019 dlss if briefly its essence is that the image is rendered in
reduced resolution and then using different technologies are going upscale then
there is an increase in the image to the desired size with minimal loss of quality and sometimes
even with improved technology it is enough it is complex among other things
uses neural networks for upscale which separate tensor modules are needed for work kernels. So you can use it only on certain video cards NVIDIA rtx 2000 series and higher data for
pscales are taken from several previous ones frames so dlss requires complex integration by game developers.
About FSR - AMD's answer to DLSS
AMD looked at this in 2021 released its technology calling it FidelityFX Super resolution abbreviated fsr as opposed to dlss in analogue from red there are no neural networks and he runs entirely on algorithms written by people technology supports a wider range video cards including video cards competitors. In addition, fsr uses only information from the current frame for upscale which means it’s easier for developers integrate it, but this approach does not left without cons fsr loses dlss in almost all tests
providing inferior quality compared with a competitor in CS2, only FSR is available to us So, further we will talk only about him so how much worse does the picture get?
How FSR works.
It all depends on
of the selected preset, the office assistant has 4 of them in total
Performance
Balance
Quality and
Ultra quality

Here is a table describing what is behind them
it shows that for example for a preset quality image is scaled to one and a half times if you use 1920 on 1080 then the game will render the image in resolution is one and a half times less.

after why algorithms upscale it to Full HD but the quality will not be the samebad as if you just put
1280x720.

but still worse thannative Full HD
Now about who needs it and who doesn’t need to turn on the office worker here too you need to understand that pscale technology dlss fsr and others were created for modern video cards due to shortage power to render modern 4K games with all the newfangled bells and whistles like retracing and in high resolution shelling shows itself best the drop in quality is less noticeable and the increase FPS is felt strongly so if you for some reason you play in 4K and wanted I wish I could set more FPS in the mode quality or balance but even in Full HD the use of this technology is highly FSR at 1280x960 reduces the quality of the picture CS not private case despite powerful computers.
FSR at 1280x960
The absolute majority plays on resolution 1280x960 and hardly with this will change with the release of CS2.
With this even fsr resolution in Ultra quality greatly spoils the picture because the 984x738 render simply does not leave enough parts for high-quality upscale and the picture crumbles.
FSR at 640x480
Let's just for fun FSR at 640x480 let's look at the worst possible option once upon a time during my school years I had a GeForce 210 computer and played cs:go at a resolution of 640x480 if at this permission to enable fsr then in mode performance picture will be look like this.
and an option without upscale
Does FSR make sense in CS2?
If the video card can’t even handle CS she's probably one of those dinosaurs on which there will be no fsr either be supported from edge cases to For whom does FSR make sense? which fsr in CS might make sense this something like 1030 to 1050 Ti and similar from AMD and of course integrated graphics on such setups you can install FSR look at quality or balance will make this situation better and solve are you ready to put up with such a loss? picture quality in exchange for additional footage Do not forget that productivity gains are possible only if you are powerful enough the fsr processor makes the job easier. This is a situation only for a video card quite rare because the game is very processor dependent and not on all systems, the emphasis goes to the videocard.
End.
I hope the information was useful for you
and which fsr preset did you choose?
Let's share this in the comments.

I play on 1440p 16:9 with FSR on Performance. I have a RTX 2060 Super and R5 5600, but I also have OBS on, which uses Nvenc (GPU Encoding), so it reduces fps a bit. I've also capped frames to 135 through NVCP (Nvidia Contol Panel), which helps with keeping frametimes more stable. Game looks a bit mushy (basically 720p), but at least my UI is sharp 1440p and my second monitor doesn't freak out like from changing the actual in-game res (I know there are some workarounds/fixes, but I don't bother).

All information was taken from official/popular sources such as nvidia and amd. My colleagues and I have conducted tests of various system parameters. Where did the information about the resolution of CS2 players come from? The manual provides information from CS GO, since there was no official release at the time of data collection. (The absolute majority loses in the resolution of 1280x960 and this is unlikely to change with the release of CS2.) the table was compiled by calculating a post from HLTV at the end of 2022 about the resolution in CS GO, information about which was shared nvidia (2023) and amd, a discussion post was taken from reddit.
P.s. English is not my main language, I apologize if the text may be unclear at times

Why are there no links to the original source? I had no desire to litter this guide with links and a bunch of information that I had collected, and there was a lot of it. I compressed the material and gave 20% of the total amount of work so that the information could be easily absorbed. The purpose of this guide was to tell you what this setting is, how it works, and give you tips on choosing a preset.

Not a single source in the whole post? How do you know, for example, what resolution CS2 players play at?
