FIX for screentearing / input latency with Frame generation
By Industria
I've found a small fix for achieving butter-smooth gameplay with ultra settings on the 4000 series. Here's a short guide for those struggling:

Configuration: i7 Gen12, 4080, 16GB RAM (slightly below recommended)
Monitor refresh rate: 60Hz (target 60FPS)

Settings:
Overdrive RT: Enabled
All in-game settings: Maxed out (make sure you do it manually, Overdrive RT wont max everything)
Resolution: 4K
DLSS: Quality
Frame Generation: Enabled
Rays Reconstruction: Enabled
HDR: Enabled

Challenge 1:
Without frame generation, unable to maintain 60 fps; with frame generation, screen tearing due to VSync being off.
Solution: Create a game profile (or use an existing one) in Nvidia Control Panel, force regular VSync to 'on'.

Challenge 2:
Issue with extremely high input latency (caused when FPS exceeds your monitor refresh rate).
Solution: In the game options, enable FPS limiter and set it to 29 for 60hz display. This doubles to stable 58 fps with latency similar to VSync (or slightly higher). It remains very enjoyable, smooth, with all in-game settings enabled and stunning picture quality.

Bonus: Limiting your frame rate also eases the load on your GPU; my load is around 70% only.

p.s. If your display isn't 60hz, just divide its refresh rate by 2 and decrease by 1 or try different values depending on your initial frame time and needed fps to match refresh rate. Just take in mind that frame generation basically doubles the number you're limited at and it should not exceed refresh rate. I suppose its a game bug or driver issue, which may be fixed someday. Its also possible not every configuration is affected.

Same drivers same everything as day 1 when I got my new card. VSYNC disabled Frame Gen on no screen tearing, butter smooth. Now after the malware infected my firmware and now have an unremovable firmware rootkit device performs horribly with Frame Gen screen tearing which did not happen before when using Frame Gen. That’s why VSYNC is disabled when using Frame Gen, Frame Gen prevents screen tearing. Also the fps limiter which worked in game (Cyberpunk 2077) before does not limit fps anymore like it used to. You should not have to override any settings in the Nvidia Control Panel or Nvidia app. This is coming from a credible source.

Anyone experiencing these issues probably have the same malware that alters the functionality of the game and hardware to its advantage.

Saved my sanity with this. Thanks! :royce:
