Cannot Access CD Keys for Spore
By Player26
What should we do if we cannot access our CD keys used to activate the game on the EA platform via the Steam Library, and the Windows Registry Editor merely provides us with a code of "%CDKEY%"?

Problem: No CD Keys Displayed and %CDKEY%
CD keys used to activate the game on the EA platform cannot be accessed via the Steam Library, and the Windows Registry Editor merely provides a code of "%CDKEY%".

Steam >> Library >> Spore >> Manage >> CD Keys
The popup window displays no CD keys, only the notification "You may need to enter these keys after the application has launched".

Win+R >> regedit
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\ea games\spore(tm)\ergc
%CDKEY%

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\SPORE Creepy and Cute Parts Pack
%CDKEY%

No Need to Contact Steam Support
If you cannot access your CD keys used to activate the game on the EA platform ( Origin ) via the Steam Library, you should contact EA Help instead of Steam Support. Steam Support is unable to provide you with CD keys for use on other platforms.
My Suggested Steps:
2. Search Spore
At the search bar insert "Spore", and select "Spore".

3. Select Topic
3. You will see some support topics.

For Spore, select the "I need help loading my game" topic.

For other contents like Spore - Galactic Adventures, select the "I'm looking for something I earned" topic.

Other topics might also be fine as long as you can find the "Email Us" option on the page that opens.
4. Email EA Help
Click "Email Us" to create your case.

5. Platform: Steam-PC
At the "Select platform" column select "Steam-PC".

6. Describe Your Case
Then describe your problem of missing CD keys, and provide your related screenshots (not compulsory).

7. Provide Screenshots as Requested
You will then be contacted by an EA Help agent and asked to provide screenshots of your Steam transaction history and details of the confirmation email you received when purchasing the game. Both should be full-screen, desktop images of the internet browser (screenshots of the Steam app are not accepted ) , including the following information:

-Web address bar/page URL
-Product Code (if you got one)
-Description or name of the product you purchased
-Confirmation number (Transaction ID or Invoice)
-Email address (if possible)
-Username
-Date and time of the purchase
-Price paid

The sample screenshots for Steam purchases can be found at: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/how-to-provide-proof-of-purchase/#steam .

EA Help: How to provide proof of purchase

Provide the required information through the case you created, which you can find at: https://help.ea.com/en/help-my-cases/ (requires login to your EA account).

EA Help: My Cases

Enter the relevant case page and click on "Resume Case", and you can then update the case with the requested information.

8. Provide Account Details as Requested
After you provide proper screenshots, the EA Help agent will request you to share the following details:

-Email address of the EA Account
-Do you have access to the email address?
-Platform used to access the game (PC, Xbox, PS)
-Username (EA ID, Xbox gamertag, PSN ID)

Provide the required information through the case you created, which you can find at: https://help.ea.com/en/help-my-cases/ (requires login to your EA account).

EA Help: My Cases

Enter the relevant case page and click on "Resume Case", and you can then update the case with the requested information.

9. Check Your Email and EA Library
Once you have confirmed your preferred platform, the EA Help agent will directly activate the related game on that platform for you rather than sending you a new activation key.

Open the EA application and check the status of Spores and add-ons, the game should be added, congrats.

Hi Frank

I think EA removed all the "EMAIL US" buttons, leaving only the "CHAT WITH US" option. :steamfacepalm: I don't know why the live support doesn't work. Did you provide all the information they need to verify your purchase?

there isn't an email option for me :( and live support just doesn't work

Because I purchased spore back in 2014 before steam added the functionality to view your purchase receipts on the website, EA refused to transfer my game over to origin, permanently locking me out of the online features of my game, and more importantly, locking me out of the whole point of the 29$ Galactic Adventures expansion pack. Wonderful.

Just putting this here in case anyone else with a really old spore purchase wants to try this method, make sure you check that "how to provide proof of purchase" link before you contact support, because if you're missing the "I would like to view or print the reciept for this purchase" button on your transaction history page you are shit outta luck and have just been locked out of the online features of the game you paid for.
