How to get black border/wide screen in CS2 on AMD
Por godl3ss
In this guide i will tell you how to get black borders or widescreen stretched in CS2 limited beta test.
Since there is a bug in AMD at the moment of writing this guide (1.9.2023), that doesn't recognize CS2 as a separate game, it still thinks its CS:GO, with this guide i will help you fix it.

Navigating to The AMD Adrenalin panel.
Navigate to the bottom left of your taskbar.

Then right click on the AMD Adrenalin icon.

Next click on the Open AMD Software Adrenalin Edition at the very top.

Then the panel will open.

Adding CS2 to the games list.
In the AMD Adrenalin panel, click on the gaming tab.

After that click on the more options button on the left top below the sidebar button that looks like an arrow.

Then click on add a game.

A menu like this should appear, asking you what application you want to select.

Next we want to navigate to the CS2 executable install directory. ( Usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\bin\win64 )

After that you should click on the cs2.exe file, then click on open.

Congratulations now you have added CS2 to you games list and now we can begin with the issue with black border/stretched issues.

Choosing what resolution scaling mode we want for CS2
Now we start by clicking on the CS2 icon.

Next we navigate to the Display section.

Afterwards we select the scaling mode we want.

Now to explain what the modes will look like.

Full panel is stretched.
Preserve Aspect ratio is black bars.

I will select Preserve Aspect ratio, because i like to play on black bars.

And thats basically it.

Here is proof it worked.

If you've got more than one monitor, do the same settings (GPU-Scaling: enabled) for all monitors u have, that worked for me..

Hello. Had this issue too. For me the fix was to change aspect ratio from the monitors settings while in game. I have the Samsung OLED G8. It actually saves the aspect ratio only for CS, so the best thing for me was just enabling full screen opimization from the game while and putting "full panel" from adrenalin and just using my monitor settings.

if it doesn't work for someone, try writing -vulkan in the startup parameters

Thank you I also have a 7900xtx and it's been great. It's almost as good as the rtx 5080 witch is crazy to think.

For BB users, you need to go to CS2 exe file and click on properties and click Disable full screen optimizations. Everyone says that it should be un-checked but if you leave it unchecked you wont get BB. I dont know why this is but it just works for me at least.

This also does not work for me anymore. Can you share what is your AMD Software Adrenalin Edition "Global Display" settings? Should I have GPU scaling enabled and scaling mode set to whatever I want depending if I want stretched or black bars?
