Your ultimate companion guide for getting to know one of my favorite nuances of Counter Strike skin collecting, Rare Patterns. This guide should be used as an introduction to make you aware of skins that have rare patterns and not a ultimate guide that shows you every pattern and pattern ID.

Intro
What is this?
This is meant to be both a small guide to the uninitiated of how rare patterns in Counter Strike work but also a sort of log of my favorite rare patterns. I have no intention for this to be an exhaustive list of every rare pattern there is rather a more in depth companion guide to with a video series I do on my channel. Ill include those here if you wanna check them out:

Who am I?
My name is Slum Bubba (aka Slum, Booba, Slim Bobby, etc) and I have a Youtube channel where I primarily talk about Counter Strike skins. I started playing Counter Strike in the summer of 2014 and played off and up in till about a year ago when I tried to play valorant for a week and determined that Counter Strike is by far the greatest competitive shooter ever made. I then started doing some deep dives into my favorite Counter Strike skins only to discovered that one of my favorite skins the AWP Dragon Lore had no attributed artist. This lead me on a hunt to uncover the artist behind the skin and subsequently my first ever upload to my channel. This got the attention of the Skin Guru himself OhnePixel and he helped grow my channel into what it is today! If your interested in checking my channel you can do so at the linktree provided at the bottom of this section.

Why Should I Listen to You?
I just like you am constantly learning and am fascinated with how deep the CS Skins rabbit hole goes! I try my best to make sure this information is as accurate as possible and if any of it isn't I while do my best to adjust it in a timely manner. I've played this game and been involved in the trading scene for it for a while at this point and would say I have at least above average knowledge of the games skin economy. But again that is for you to decide! If you see any errors or want to contribute in anyway please lmk in the comments Below! You can also join my discord at the linktree below to more easily get in contact with me.

How Do Patterns Even Work?
First things first is you need to understand that there's a lot going on behind your favorite CSGO skins. I know its seems like a rather simple concept but the more and more you dig into it, it really starts to unravel itself into quite a mess for a guy like me (a stupid guy). If you want to dig into all that I would encourage you to do so because it really is interesting and will definitely give you higher appreciation of some of your favorite skins in the game. But lucky for me and you we don't really need to get into all of the that for you to understand how a rare pattern works. In CSGO some skins are known as pattern based. This means the texture for that skin is actually a big square with a repeating pattern on it and depending on the pattern ID assigned to your weapon your skin could look completely different your buddy who has the same in the same wear. Lets look at the P90 | Cocoa Rampage as an example.

Above is two different Cocoa Rampages that are both Factory New but because the pattern ID's are different both look very different from one another. This is how rare patterns come to be. At this point in time the Cocoa Rampage only has a few patterns that are worth overpay and they still only go for about 4$-5$ over market. This makes them the the perfect example to use because I wont be spoiling a good rare pattern in this tutorial section. But before we get into those rare patterns there's still one more concept I want to touch on a little bit more and that's those Pattern ID's we talked about earlier. You can see this value when inspecting the float of a weapon by hovering your mouse over the "i" in the inspect menu as shown below.

These Pattern ID's or Pattern Templates can be any number 1-1000 and if two weapons with the same skin also have the same pattern ID their patterns will be an exact match. This even transcends wear as you can see above. The skin on the left is Factory New while the skin on the right Battle Scarred yet as we can see the patterns line up exactly.

I like to think of the pattern Id as coordinates and according to which ID you have determines where on the texture you gun will lie. Above I've created some images to help explain a little more clearly. In the Pattern portion of the image we can clearly see the repeating Cocoa Rampage Pattern that we've been discussing. Below that in example one, we can see an example of a random pattern ID choosing coordinates and the resulting skin. Below that in example 2 we have another example using a different pattern ID thus shifting the coordinates and giving us a totally different look.

One last thing before we move on. Sometimes I will reference patterns and then show said patterns. Those patterns will look a little different then you remember. For example, above is the Cocoa Rampages pattern. As you can see this looks very different from the Cocoa Rampage that you have been seeing. While I could try to explain this thing to you that I don't even fully understand, I will instead show you valves explanation:

Case Hardened
The Basics
Case hardened skins are the pinnacle of rare pattern collecting for a lot collectors. I've personally never really been super into them due to how ridiculously expensive they tend to be, I can still appreciate their look and low population of higher tier patterns. So the first portion of this guide is gonna be all about looking at the firearms, the knives, and even the gloves that have this pattern on them.

To put it into the most basic terms: More Blue = More Money. But like I said that's looking at it in the most basic way possible. Most guides on steam typically rank the patterns based on tiers. So your tier ones are your most desirable, Tier twos are slightly less desirable than those, and so on. As I outlined at the beginning of this guide, this isn't going to get into all of that. Were just gonna take a look at the tier one patterns for each of the skins that the Case Hardened pattern is on for now.
Case Hardened Firearms
AK47 | Case Hardened
This is by far my favorite of all the case hardened skins, the AK47 Case Hardened. Currently at the time of creating this guide there is a bounty of $1,000,000 for the most desirable blue gem AK as it has yet to be opened in Factory New. (I think its more now...) But now lets look at an example of a Tier One Pattern on it.

Looking at the image above we can see how a majority of Ohnes AK's slide is blue, this is what makes it a very desirable tier one pattern. There is also patterns where the mag is very blue that are very desirable as well. As with most patterns it just boils down to personal preference, how many of the patterns exist, and what someone is willing to pay for those patterns.

Tier One Patterns: 661, 151, 955, 321, 387, 670, 179

For a way more in depth look at Case Hardened AK's Please checkout this guide by Dutch: Link

Five-Seven | Case Hardened
Due to how much smaller the five seven is then the AK, with the tier one patterns on the five seven essentially make the whole thing blue. This means two things: 1. There are way less tier one patterns because the criteria for being a tier one is essentially making the entire slide blue. 2. This means a lot of the tier two patterns are very nice but they just don't quite cover some parts of it.

Tier One Patterns: 278, 690

For a way more in depth look at Case Hardened Five-Sevens's Please checkout this guide by korenevskiy: Link

MAC-10 | Case Hardened

Moving on we get to the last firearm with a case hardened skin (for now...) the MAC-10. Still a way smaller canvas then the AK but definitely a good bit larger than the five-seven. This means that unfortunately there are not any solid blue tier ones as we saw with the five-seven, but they are still very blue and in my opinion look very solid. Also of the skins we've looked at so far I've found these to be the most affordable.

Tier One Patterns: 95, 19, 251, 239, 295, 748, 890, 406, 807, 199, 831

Case Hardened Knives
Intro

I cant really call this a rare patterns guide if I don't mention the knives. If I'm being totally honest they have just never really done it for me (Copium because I cant afford one...) But just like the firearms we looked at earlier in this guide, people are obsessed with them and they fetch incredibly high prices. Like incredibly incredibly high prices. They also have tiers like the weapons we looked at earlier with Tier ones being the most desirable and so on. I really don't wanna get insanely in-depth with these so were just gonna look at what a tier one pattern looks like on each one and call it a day. Also below each one ill include a link to guides further diving into the different tiers from a website called csgoskins.gg. They have no affiliation with this guide at all, I just liked there articles on blue gems and found them to be very comprehensive, so feel free to check those out for more info.

Case Hardened Gloves
Currently at the time of making this guide there is only one pair of gloves in counterstrike with the case hardened pattern on them and that is the Hydra Gloves. These also were not always pattern based. With one of the updates to the CS2 Beta they updated this pair of gloves to be pattern based which the community as a whole was very happy to see. Especially people who owned pairs that turned into blue gems essentially overnight. I really hope with the launch of CS2 we will see more gloves with this pattern but unfortunately this is all we have for now. As we did before were just gonna take a look at what tier ones look like for them so we can get on to the good stuff.

Case Hardened Miscellaneous
Were almost done. There's still some more niche areas of case hardened collecting that I want to talk about quickly before we move on. But ironically enough this miscellaneous section contains my favorite rare patterns that the case hardened pattern has to offer.

Gold Gems

Yep its exactly what you think it is. Gold gems try to have as little blue visible as possible making them exact opposites of blue gems. These also operate on the same tier basis as the blue gems discussed earlier. So were just gonna look a few examples and move on. I've always really enjoyed the look of these (especially the karambit shown below)

The Huntsman ♥♥♥♥ Hardened

I've saved the best for last. The ♥♥♥♥ Hardened Huntsman. What is there to say about this one. Your looking at the picture of this one and you get it or your really confused and the immature child in you died long ago. I believe McSkillet put this on my radar back in the day but this clip of Ohne has got this pattern a lot of attention more recently.

AWP | PAW

The AWP PAW is definitely one of the most fun and widely enjoyed pattern skins in counterstrike. Its such a vibrant cute skin you would have to be some kind of monster to not like it (kidding). But in all seriousness I feel like the community as a whole loves this skin. It also happens to have some rare patterns. I'm gonna go over a few of my favorites here today but just to be clear everybody has their favorite pattern. Some people like the pug being centered in the middle, some people like the golden grenade being centered in middle, and so on. Ill include a more in depth guide below for those of you who want to check out a more extensive catalog of those patterns.

Golden Cat

By far the most valuable pattern for this skin is the perfectly centered golden cat. There are also only two pattern ids that the community have deemed as having "perfect" centering. Those being Pattern Id 41 & 350.

Stoner Cat

Another one that is very sought-after is the stoner cat pattern. This pattern is very unique in that the artist actually made pattern so that the stoner cat would be perfectly centered with the Pattern Id 420. A very cool easter egg by the creator TheDanidem.

If you wanna check out other patterns for the AWP PAW or even some of the lower tier centering's for the ones discussed here, check out tost guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2791235404
MAC-10 | Last Dive

The last dive is a skin that is very slept on in my opinion. 95% of the patterns for it don't look that great and upon further examination you cant even really tell what its supposed to be usually. But the that other 5% where the pattern is displayed well makes for a damn good skin. I literally had a game where a guy picked up my good pattern Last Dive and it blew his mind because the one he uses has really bad centering. I also haven't found a ton of documentation on this one, so if anyone has anymore patterns id love to hear your suggestions.

All the patterns in this guide were pulled from Scooty's guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2828020232&searchtext=last+dive
UMP-45 | Minotaurs Labyrinth

Well I feel like this one is pretty self explanatory after looking at the above image. You want the minotaur as close to the center of the gun as possible. This another that I've been unable to find any documentation on good patterns. So below I'm just gonna show pretty good centering and Ill update this if I find a more exhaustive list or have time to go through the patterns myself. But yeah, minotaur clearly visible = good.

Five Seven | Kami

Ladies and Gentlemen your are in good hands. The Five-Seven Kami is easily one of my favorite skins in the game skin and I've been collecting them for a pretty long time. I'm basically the Counter Strike gynecologist at this point and if your confused what I'm talking youll know in just a moment. You see the kami is rather simple pattern. You can see above that its pretty much just a square page from a manga. But the rare patterns on the kami are pretty different from most other skins in this guide. You see with the Kami its all bout the back of the gun. Its where both sides art collide into each other creating some unintentional high art I'm sure all of you will appreciate.

The Starry Night, The Mona Lisa, The Kami Pattern 909... all these pieces are typically brought up when discussing what is the greatest piece of art of all time. So I assume most of you are familiar with this one. Counter Strike icon OhnePixel[www.twitch.tv] has long lead the charge that this is the most valuable Kami pattern and its safe to say that it definitely is. I'm gonna avoid describing what were looking at so Valve doesn't make me retype this but yeah you get it or you don't because you have 3000+ hours. But just to be clear this is the most valuable pattern by far of all the kami patterns by a good bit.

If you were looking at that last Kami thinking "Mmmm I don't know... Looks kinds loose to me...." then I have awesome news for you. Introducing the pattern 590, the model that's perfect for those among us who weren't blessed down there and need something a little tighter. These don't fetch as much as a 909 but I've been surprised to see how much they've gone up in the past year. Im also partly to blame for that as I used one of these in my first Rare Patterns Video and Ohne gave me an ear full for it.

Wait... Neither of those other two caught your eye??? Well sir, you truly are a gentleman of refined taste. Well I do have a yet another option for you. The pattern 348. I like to call this one the carpet pattern and if your into that kind of thing then its the perfect Kami for you. Also these tend to not go for near as much as the others we have looked at today. I guess most guys prefer shaved.

Ok so you like shaved but you want it zoomed out a little bit. Hey man, I get it. The pattern 662 should do the trick. With this pattern the whole lower half is in perfect view and you can really appreciate those hips.

Look man. We're really running out of options here. Well... actually I do have one more. This ones got some miles on it though. Oh and the bumps? I've been told they were always there and not to worry about it.

Finally a pattern I can talk about freely, the "V" pattern. That being said what is there really to say about it, its a "V". This is one that's definitely begging for a vitality craft in my opinion (I did that with mine). These are also kind of hard to find not because everyone one wants one but because I don't think people really care about this pattern.

Next up we have pattern 376 the monk/walrus pattern. When I look at this pattern my brain can only see the monk. I was very close to just naming this one one the monk pattern but who am I to rewrite counter strike history. These are very affordable at the time of me making this this, again because I think people just really don't care about them that much.

Another easy one. Pattern 411, the alien pattern. This one just a has little silly little character on the back. And just like the previous few, you can pick this one up for pretty much nothing.
Glock | Moonrise
The Glock Moonrise is a very cool skin because it works a little differently then we are used to (if you read the intro explanation.) Unlike that example where there's a square pattern and the gun is assigned coordinates anywhere on that template this skin only moves horizontally. Below Ill include a gif made by the creators and the pattern template. This should help clear things up if your still a little confused.

The gif gave it away. But the rare pattern for this skin is getting one with a star on the slide stop. Below Ill show an image of one. Its present in 44 out of the 1000. Which equates to 4.4% of all Glock Moonrises. This makes it seem like its still pretty rare but compared to other skins where your odds of getting its rare pattern is 1 out 1000 can help put things back in perspective. Because of this you can pick them up for rather cheap. I own a few of these and they are a really gorgeous skin and excellent way to get into rare pattern collecting.

The patterns which have rare stars are as follows:
19, 31, 38, 58, 59, 66, 90, 95, 102, 109, 121, 137, 142, 165, 194, 224, 237, 268, 281, 302, 355, 385, 403, 448, 475, 484, 487, 509, 601, 617, 628, 630, 667, 694, 706, 737, 744, 769, 800, 837, 864, 913, 958, 986
XM1014 | Blue Tire (Doesn't Work in CS2)
Unfortunately at the time I'm making this guide, this rare pattern seems to no longer exist in CS2. This is one that was featured in my second rare patterns video and although I typically don't like the ones where you really have to strain to try to see it... This one I enjoyed. How this one did work is if you had a XM1014 Blue Tire with a pattern of 58 and a float between .25 - 40, it look vaguely like there was a Charizard on it. Below I will show a photo highlighting where the Charizard is located, then an old screenshot from CSGO, and then the same skin in CS2.

CSGO:

CS2:

As I said, incredibly unfortunate this doesn't work anymore. Maybe before CS2 officially launches this will be fixed but I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I believe the wear on the CS2 XM1014 works entirely different and its probably for the best.
Galil AR | Sandstorm

Next up we have a skin I have a ton of nostalgia for, that being the Galil Sandstorm. This is another one that by looking at the pattern template above you probably already have a pretty good idea what the rare patterns are gonna be. That's right, either solid purple or solid white. There's also tan patterns but they aren't quite as full as the tier one purple and white ones. But if you still wanna check those out or any of the lower tier patterns make sure to hit up the guide listed at the bottom.

Purple Tier One Patterns: 583 & 761

White Tier One Patterns: 555 & 449

I think both the all purple and the all white go absolutely crazy. I definitely will be looking to get either in the very near future. That being said, at the time of making this guide these do appear to be climbing in price a little bit over the last year. Also, if you wanna see a way more indepth guide into the sandstorms patterns please checkout SeanErrens guide on them here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1528825070
XM1014 | XOXO

Next up, we have the XM1014 XOXO. I absolutely love this pattern and its not hard to tell by looking at it that there's tons of potential for rare patterns. That being said I'm only gonna touch on a few that I like. I also am not going to comment on them as I feel they are pretty self explanatory. As always I will include a more exhaustive guide below.

Wanna see more XOXO Patterns? Check out CptnKraken's guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2613276625
P2000 | Oceanic
Finishing off (for now...) with a bang, we have the P2000 Oceanic. If I didn't sell you on any of the kami patterns earlier this is for real my final skin with genitals on it (for now... ;) ). Not a ton to say about it because like I said during the Kami portion I don't want Gabe to smite the guide so Ill just let the picture do the talking. Also I would just like to point out, as far as I'm aware this is the only notable pattern for this skin. If anyone knows of any others please let me know!

In Closing...
If you made this far, thank you so much. I've never made a guide before so if you have any constructive criticism Id love to hear it. Also this will be an ever evolving thing so make sure to stop back by sometime and see what's changed. With CS2 on the horizon and the huge backlog of patterns I haven covered in a video yet, I should have plenty to keep me busy.

Also if anyone has any interest in potentially collaborating on this guide moving forward please lmk!

Please let me know what patterns you want to see added next in the comments!
