Intro
Hello Neighbor can be a very confusing and frustrating game, that's why I'm here to teach you how to jump in this game.

Like most games, Hello Neighbor allows the player to jump up in the air. This is a puzzle game with a lot of platforming sections, so jumping is required to make it through every act.
Act 1
When you start a new game, you will be greeted with a short intro section where the protagonist chases a ball. Jumping is not required in this section, but walking is necessary to progress. If you're confused on how to walk, please read through a different guide and come back to this one when you're done.

This intro ends with the Neighbor catching you, and then you're sent back to your front lawn. This is where the game really begins, so it's a good place to learn how to jump.

STEP 1: Jumping is enabled while standing on solid objects (the ground, boxes, chairs, etc.), so make sure you are grounded. You can do this by looking down at your feet (read another guide if you don't know how to do this) and seeing if there's something directly below them. If you are on the ground or on a solid object, proceed to step 2.

STEP 2: Now is the time to decide how you want to jump. Sure, you can jump upwards, but this won't get you anywhere. If you just want to jump for fun, you can skip this step. But if you want to jump towards or on to something, keep reading. You can jump in a certain direction by first walking in said direction. If you want to jump even farther, you can sprint to gain extra momentum. If you are walking or sprinting in the direction that you want to jump, proceed to step 3.

STEP 3: Press the spacebar on your keyboard to jump. If you are using a controller, I can not help you.

If you did not reach your destination, try again.
Act 2
Wow, you made it to Act 2! You entered the basement and got past the first part of the game! That also means you know the basics of jumping in Hello Neighbor!

If you did not get past Act 1, please read the previous paragraph.

Just like the first one, Act 2 requires a lot of jumping. I know the instructions for Act 1 were a little complicated, but don't worry, Act 2 is very similar to Act 1.

Jumping in this part of the game is the same as in Act 1, but now fall damage is enabled, so be careful with your jumps!
Act 3
Act 2 was easy, wasn't it? Now, the next part of the game can be a little difficult, but I'm here to help you. With these instructions, Act 3 will be a piece of cake (no pun intended ;D ).

Jumping is not the same in this part of the game, so you'll have to learn some new things. First of all, jumping might seem exactly the same for most of this act. While the jumping mechanics are the same at first, things will change.

At one point in Act 3, you use a red key to get into a dark closet. When you reach the top of this area and jump towards the light, the game tells you to press the jump button. Like with all QTEs (Quick Time Events) in this game, you need to press the button when the prompt appears on screen. After that, you get a new ability.

DOUBLE JUMP: After the closet minigame, you have the ability to do a "double jump". To do a double jump, you first need to jump normally. While you're still in the air, you can press the spacebar again to do another jump! This only works once, and the ability recharges when you land on a solid object again.

Now that you understand double jumping, the rest of Act 3 will be easy. But watch out for the Neighbor, he does not want you in his house!
Act Finale (SPOILERS)
This paragraph contains spoilers for the ending of Hello Neighbor!

Wow, you beat Act 3! Even with my help, that's pretty impressive! Now it's time for the last part of the game, where jumping is very important!

Jumping in Act Finale is the same as in Act 3, where you can jump normally or double jump to get to higher places. After 3 acts you should be great at jumping, so good luck with this final challenge!
Extra
This part of the guide is for people who have finished the game.

So, you beat Hello Neighbor. What now? Well, now you can use your jumping knowledge to find secrets in the game, or play more Hello Neighbor Games such as Hello Neighbor Hide & Seek.

Jumping is like baking an apple pie. I hope my tutorial helped you.
Sure, this guide is a joke, but I wrote it because I truly love this game and all of it's quirks. You have almost no air control in Hello Neighbor, and that can be really frustrating, but I don't want that to take away from the deeper meaning that this game has. I hope you can look past this game's problems and enjoy it. Now, you don't need to like Hello Neighbor, but it's unfair to judge the entire franchise based on the player movement in the first game.

If you're interested in playing more Hello Neighbor games, I'd recommend playing Hello Neighbor 2. Jumping is much easier in that game and it fixes most of the problems with this game. Hello Engineer also just released, and I really recommend playing it if you like games about building cars. There's also the Hello Neighbor books, they're surprisingly well written and they're worth reading if you liked this game.

Remember, you can press the jump button to jump!
