Old Soldiers, A Skeleton Add on

Description
The wind moves through a piece of rusted metal, two wires touch, a spark, you awake alone.

Welcome to my first mod, originally it was just a start mod but I've decided to make it a dialogue/story start mod centred on skeletons! i'll be adding to it periodically but ill always try to make it mod/save game safe. if any problems let me know!

Game balance is not a goal, but an obsession.

List of PLANNED features:

7 new balanced Skeleton characters with Dialogue.

3 new starts

1 New weapons grade that is after Edge 3 (Before Meitou) That can only be crafted with a skill of 90 (Can't wait to balance that, my wall is gonna cave in with how hard i'm hitting it with my head)

30 new items, trade goods and lore items (it might be less or more than that, whole numbers look good lol)

1 new faction, "Stobes Guard", a group of skeletons who have pledged to guard Stobes body until its rusted away, they're a bit quirky and have been running for a little too long, but they're the only 'good' faction in the area (other than the crab raiders of course) This a monumental task and requires editing basically everything in the pits/stobes garden/ stobes gamble area, as well as Dialogue, my old nemesis.

1 new town called Stobes Rest, Located at the feet of Stobe in Stobes Garden just south of black scratch (Go figure), it's planned to have a mid grade armour smith, a tech/robotics limb shop, material goods trader, bar, and faction HQ plus some residential, it'll have iron-steel smelters and 2 iron II mines working at around 90-110%, might remove the iron smelter, can't have it too easy for you guys.

Interactions with the various factions in the area ('Skeleton' raider, crab raiders, reaver raiders, skin raid- er i mean skin bandits...)

Various changes to Skeleton race stats to balance, mostly reworking MkII skeles while keeping everything balanced and lore compliant.

Dialogue, Dialogue, Dialogue.

Completed features:
1 Start "Old Soldier" premier start
Some Miscellaneous Dialogue mostly limb related stuff
Attribute changes
Handful of lore items

Start Includes:
Prototype Grade Ancient samurai armour (50% of shoddy)
An old rusty katana and Polearm
some Rp lore items in inventory
Very poor quality limbs (shoddy with 50% of specialised limbs, stealth legs and lifter arms)
and a start in the center of the ashlands.

I cannot add monologue, game broken pls fix devs :(

Update 0.4: general changes to race stats. mostly the MKII races as they were never intended for players, also changed some values with limbs so speciality limbs will be a grade down currently only stealth legs and lifter arms btw. Hit a road block with dialogue as it was not as simple as i thought, so i've released this to tide things over, Motivation is low as always but ill always try to put out an update each month until i add my ultimate goal, Stobes Rest.

Update 0.3: Fixed start position, added other skeleton start races (not integrated with vanilla dialogue... yet) and changed racial stats for skeletons by adding science boost, with swimming malus (still debating).

Wanted to make a personal compatibility patch for some skeleton race mods, which of the mod files are the correct ones to use? You have overlapping file names.

Absolutly brutal mod, I just love it. I tried download it yesterday but it didn't work but once I got it all up and running it's really amazing. Love the mod!:steamhappy:

hmm Still trying to work out the dialogue system in game, it's easy to understand but a little tedious to input so ive probably just missed a trigger somewhere

Cool update, I couldn't get the start dialogue to work. Issue on my end? Tried with the default skeleton and p4 unit and neither said anything upon using the cats in my inventory.:DOOM_Marauder:

Thanks for the reply, if it helps make it easy at all, you can make it compatible with any skeleton race by taking out the race restrictions altogether. Obviously this mod is made to be played as a skeleton, so I understand the decision there.
Personally, I don't mind a near impossible start, I made my own (much lower quality) start where you are missing an arm and a leg, so I had to crawl out of the ashlands. I like playing with the fear of death.
When I tried this start, I spawned in the center of an army of thralls and died instantly. Very realistic and good :dustwich:
Some custom voice lines to kick off your character's playthrough sounds awesome, I think that's a great idea.

Thank you so much VHN! i'm thinking of fixing up the start coordinates and then adding some dialogue for when you wake up/go to towns etc, i'll look into skeleton subraces and then mod skeleton sub races next sorry. I'll also re-balance the start so you can actually walk or sneak out of the ashlands as its currently a coin toss lol, don't worry it'll still be quiet difficult.

This is a really awesome start, I love the lore items that you've made. Any plans for compatibility with UWE/concept art skeletons? The lion head (the one from your first upload image) is my favorite skeleton to play as. Also sorry i didn't have much to send you, I hope it helps at least a little. :beeped:
