How to unlock all heroes in Overwatch 2
By H30000
Overwatch 2 has many fun and exciting heroes that we all love and hate. As a new (or returning) player you're probabaly looking forward to trying all of them. But not so fast, blizzard has locked a lot of them for no reason other than to make you pay up.
In this guide I will go over both methods of unlocking all the heroes, both new and old, in Overwatch 2. One method is vastly faster than the other, but the latter is free.

The easy way
Buy them all with real money, lol.

Do not resort to this unless you absolutely cannot wait to play a hero which can be unlocked completely for free with minimal effort, as explained in the other sections of this guide.

The (Free) realistic way: Original roster
A new player has 13 characters unlocked when starting the game for the first time. At the time of writing these are:
  • (Tanks) Orisa, Reinhardt, Winston and Zarya.
  • (DPS) Pharah, Reaper, Soldier 76, Torbjorn, Tracer and Widowmaker.
  • (Support) Lucio, Mercy and Moira.
Each character which didn't release as an addition to Overwatch 2 or its seasons has a specific amount of games to be played tied to being able to unlock them. Which game-mode, or character you play doesn't matter unless specified otherwise in the challenges tab (Esc. > Challenges > Hero.)

The requirements are as follows:
  • Genji - 1 game

  • D.Va - 2 games

  • Cassidy - 3 games

  • Ana - 4 games

  • Hanzo - 9 games

  • Junkrat - 12 games

  • Roadhog - 15 games

  • Symmetra - 20 games

  • Zenyatta - 25 games

  • Bastion - 30 games

  • Sigma - 40 games

  • Ashe - 50 games

  • Brigitte - 60 games

  • Mei - 70 games

  • Doomfist - 85 games

  • Baptiste - 100 games

  • Sombra - 115 games

  • Wrecking Ball - 130 games

  • Echo - 150 games
The (free) realistic way: "New heroes"
New heroes launched with Overwatch 2 and its seasons (6 at the time of writing) have different yet generally easier unlock requirements.

All challenges that require you to use the characters can be done in the practice range (Play > Training > Practice Range), this is also where you will find the mentioned 'bots'. Additionally, all 'win X amount of games' challenges stack. 35 wins are all that's required if you're attempting to unlock all of these characters at once.

  • Get two critical hits with Kiriko's Kunai.
  • Heal 250 damage with Kiriko's Healing Ofuda on allied bots.
  • Use Protection Suzu on two allied bots simultaneously.
  • Use Swift Step through a wall to an allied bot.
  • Use Kiriko's passive, Wall Climb, in the Practice Range.
  • Buff two allied buffs with Kiriko's Ultimate, Kitsune Rush.

Sojourn unlock requirements:

  • Win 35 games as DPS heroes in different game modes, like Quick Play, No Limits or Competitive Mode.

  • Eliminate two enemy bots using Railgun's secondary fire.
  • Deal damage while using Sojourn's Power Slide ability.
  • Damage two enemy bots with a single Disruptor Shot.
  • Kill three enemy bots with Sojourn's Ultimate, Overclock.

Junkerqueen unlock requirements:
  • Win matches as a Tank hero in Quick Play, Competitive, or No Limits.
  • Eliminate three bots with Scattergun.
  • Provide two friendly bots with the buff from a single use of Commanding Shout.
  • Recall Jagged Blade while still stuck in an enemy.
  • Use Carnage on an enemy bot while impaled with Jagged Blade to pull them forward.
  • Rush: Heal yourself using Adrenaline Rush.
  • Damage two enemy robots in one single use of her Ultimate, Rampage.

Ramattra unlock requirements:
  • Win 35 games as a Tank hero in any game mode.
  • Eliminate three enemy bots with Void Accelerator.
  • Use Ravenous Vortex during Omnic Form and Nemesis Form.
  • Damage two enemy robots simultaneously with Pummel while in Ramattra's Nemesis Form.
  • Absorb 30 damage while using Void Barrier.
  • Block 30 damage while in Ramattra's Nemesis Form.
  • Extend the duration of Ramattra's Ultimate, Annihilation, for six seconds or more while near enemy robots.

Lifeweaver unlock requirements:
  • Win 25 games queued as All Roles or by playing Support in Quick Play, No Limits, or Competitive.
  • Eliminate 2 bots with Thorn Volley in the Practice Range.
  • Restore 75 Health with Healing Blossom (secondary fire)
  • Use Life Grip on an AI bot in the Practice Range
  • Have yourself or an AI bot stand on the Petal Platform and be lifted into the air in the Practice Range
  • Restore 25 Health to yourself by using Rejuvenating Dash
  • Restore 50 health and block 50 incoming damage using Lifeweaver's Ultimate, Tree of Life, in the Practice Range

The newst hero launched with season 6, Illari, is currently only available for free by reaching tier 45 in the battle pass, or via buying the battle pass for 1000 Overwatch tokens (~$10 USD) to unlock her instantaneously. This method of unlocking the newest hero has so far been the case for every new seasonal hero launch; and will continue to be the case for every upcoming hero, as far as we know.
