About the car:

The Nissan S30 (sold in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z, and in other markets as the Datsun 240Z, then as the 260Z and 280Z) is the first generation of 3-door two-seat coupe Z GT, produced by the Japanese company Nissan Motors, Ltd. from 1969 to 1978. The S30 was conceived by Yutaka Katayama, president of Nissan Motor Corporation in the USA, and developed by a team led by Yoshihiko Matsuo, head of Nissan's sports design studio.

Wangan midnight:

(Japanese: 湾岸ミッドドイイト, Hepburn: Wangan Middonaito)Wangan Midnight, is a Japanese racing manga series written and illustrated by Michiharu Kusunoki. It was first published in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine in 1990, but was later published in Kodansha's Weekly Young magazine from 1992 to 2008. The manga has been collected into 42 volumes published by Kodansha. The second series of the manga titled Wangan Midnight: C1 Runner was released from 2008 to 2012. The third manga series, Ginkai no Speed Star, was published from 2014 to 2015. The fourth series of the manga, Shutoko SPL - Ginkai no Speedster, started in 2016.

The series has been adapted into several feature films, video games, and an anime television series. The anime aired in Japan from June 2007 to September 2008 on the anime satellite television network Animax, animated by A.C.G.T. and produced by OB Planning.

In 1999, Wangan Midnight received the Kodansha Manga Award in the general category.

Akio Asakura:

An ambitious racer who started from a very young age, Akio was in his last year of high school when this story began. He was driving his red Nissan Fairlady Z (Z31) until, after being defeated by Tatsuya Shima's Blackbird, he discovered the "Devil Z", a 620 hp (460 kW) Nissan Fairlady Z (S30), which is supernaturally fast and extremely difficult to drive. Akio is considered a legend on Wangan, although he is a modest character.
