Introduction
have you ever wished that you could achieve optimal gaming while risking your rain? well fear not, as this guide will help you achieve rick of rain ascension.
Setup
Before we begin the run, we need to make some decisions about our setup.

Make sure to pick a character with a high fire rate, such as Commando or MUL-T. This is a crucial step in the process of gamerage. Next, you need to play on rainstorm difficulty (we will not be playing on monsoon because, contrary to popular belief, monsoon actually makes the game easier).

Good job, you have successfully made it past the setup phase. But now what?
Step 0.5
You may be wondering how we begin the gaming process. Well, for that we need to learn about the start button.

Have you ever looked at the character select screen and said, "I wonder what this green button does?" If you haven't, that's ok, as the aforementioned green button is rather hard to find. To locate it, simply look below where your survivor is standing and you should see something like this:

Don't press it yet though, as we need to know what it does first.
This green button actually does multiple things:
  • Tells the game that you are "ready"
  • Makes the screen go black
  • Starts loading the stage and its loot
  • Begins the game

If you feel that you are ready to press this button, simple click it and watch the magic happen.
Step 1
Ok so now we're in the game. If you were paying attention, you would know that we are supposed to be on the stage "Titanic Plains". This seems like a pointless requirement, but believe me, gaming is found everywhere on this map.

Now that you are in the game, immediately locate all of the mountain shrines on the map and activate them. This measure ensures that your reward for completing the stage is greater than usual. Then go find the teleporter and activate it.

If the boss is Wandering Vagrant, Stone Titan or Beetle Queen, you should have no trouble defeating it. However, if the boss happens to be a Horde of Many, you must restart the run and/or uninstall the game. This will protect the integrity of your gaming. Once you have beaten the boss, you should receive a number of items equal to the number of mountain shrines you have activated. Now, pick up the ATG Missiles lying on the ground (if they are not ATGs you need to verify the integrity of your game files).

Now go through the teleporter.

SIDE FACT
Did you know that Void Fiend turns blue on this map?
Step 2
Ok, now you should be on the map Aphelian Sanctuary.

wait a minute-
whoops forgot to mention
I almost forgot to mention that you need to be playing with Survivors of the Void turned on, as this is the only way we are able to obtain gaming-enhancement items.

If you don't have SoTV, then you should probably stop reading this guide because it is completely and utterly useless to a SoTVless individual.
Step 2 (void jailer edition)
Ok now that we have that out of the way...

You should now be on the stage Dried Lake, as you have SoTV enabled now. Now, of course, SoTV offers many more benefits than just new maps but we will only be focusing on 3 of them:

  • Void cradles
  • Plasma shrimp
  • The new survivor, Loader.

Below is an image of a void jailer.

Now what you need to do next is interact with the void cradle and you should see a funny looking item pop out.

This item is one of the best in the game, up there with bangers such as medkit and hunter's harpoon. It is known as the Plasma Shrimp, and it will be your one-way ticket to gaming.

Do the teleporter, blah blah blah, and progress to the next stage
Step 3
Stage 3: the most crucial point in the game.

Many experts say that stage 3 is the place where you will find the most native gaming, with a whopping 3.5% national GDP (gaming designation points).

Stage 3 is also the place where you will find the Pocket ICBM. If you do not find that item here, there is an incinerator in the other room where you can dispose of your PC/Xbox/PS2/Nintendo Switch Lite.

Pocket ICBM is a revolutionary item that can increase the damage output of your missiles by approximately 5 times!! This does come with a downside, as it is prone to exploding upon taking fall damage (as of update 12.3.94)

This means that your plasma shrimp is now very, very powerful.

teleporter yadda yadda progress
Step 4
Stage 4 is the third stage in the game and comes with many downsides:

  • Your money is worth less now because of inflation
  • You are now unable to access the creative menu
  • Your drones are now enemies

The enemies that spawn here are also very dangerous, and are capable of permanently removing your one shot protection. However, with your optimal gaming build, you should mow down your enemies faster than a lawnmower mowing down a 1 cubic centimetre patch of grass. Don't get too confident though, as your hubris will lead you to forget the fact that enemies can deal damage.

According to the laws of physics, Aegis is the worst item in the game. I am Albert Einstein.
- Albert Einstein

This quote has no relevance whatsoever to the guide, but I really liked it so I put it in. It makes a bold (and rather compelling) argument against the critically acclaimed item Aegis and why it objectively sucks.

After you are finished mowing down the native wildlife, you can begin step 5.
Step 5 (pebbles)
On to the final area in the game: Five Pebbles.

For those who are unaware, Five Pebbles is a region that connects to the Wall and Underhang. What makes this area unique is that most of the area is zero-gravity, making navigation much harder. The only threats present in this area are Inspectors and Daddy Long Legs.
Five Pebbles is also one of the biggest areas in the game, with many sub areas such as Memory Conflux and General Systems Bus. At this point in the game you are most likely familiar with the Slugcat's controls, and so when the zero-gravity kicks in you may find yourself disoriented. The main reason most players go here is to obtain the Mark of Communication, which is vital to progressing the story. The rain timer now does not tick down and the signature rain is not present in this area, which means you can travel greater distances between shelters without worrying about dying to the rain. This area can be skipped by going to the room outside Six Grains of Gravel, Mountains Abound and using spears to get up to the exit and going backwards through the area, reaching Five Pebbles' chamber much quicker.

Once you have successfully beaten the teleporter, you have two choices ahead of you.
THE DECISION
This is the crucial moment in your Rick on Rain career. You can either repeat previous stages, or progress to the final stage. The answer is obvious. You need to loop back to the previous levels. Many Recon Rain "experts" will recommend going to the final stage because it gives you the option to beat the game. They are wrong, because the only way to beat the game is to continue playing until it crashes and your PC transforms into a volatile explosive that risks burning your house down.
In short, only Risk Refrain NOOBS go to commencement.

five thousand stages later...
I bet you're wondering "what's next?" as you hold down your left mouse button, numbly staring at the game's feeble attempt at displaying the immense number of enemies before you. "When do I get to be gaming?" you mumble as the next slide in your Risk of Rain 2 powerpoint presentation flashes in front of your eyes.

The only option available to you in the current moment is to ascend to the plane of the ancient ones and become an eldritch deity that cannot be described without causing a violent fit of hysteria in the minds of anyone unfortunate enough to hear such a vivid portrayal.
The only option available to you
is
GAMING
