Restore missing pre-order bonus items

The pre-order bonus items from the Xbox One version can be enabled on PC.

Items

This mod edits a file to give access to items that were available as a pre-order bonus for the Xbox One version:
Frank West Outfit
Frank's Zombie Slugger
"Outbreak Survivor" book
Chuck Greene Outfit
Paddlesaw
"Mechanical Trends" book

How to install

Download this archive[files.catbox.moe] and extract it.
Navigate to your Dead Rising 3 install folder and go to the dlc subfolder.
Backup dlc_preorder.bin, and then replace it with the version you just downloaded.

How it works

This edits the file dlc_preorder.bin to change the "DLCFlag" value for DLCs which are still in the game files, but not enabled. It also redirects which files are used for the Frank and Chuck outfits, since the PC version does not have those files in their original locations, but has copies with different names.

The outfits probably won't appear for co-op players who aren't using the mod, but the weapons should work without issue.


There is a minor issue where the locker thumbnails for individual parts of these outfits will show "missing texture" instead of the item. This does not affect functionality when equipped.

Where's the rest of the DLC?

The other DLCs defined in dlc_preorder.bin that aren't enabled by this mod can't be restored to working capacity because their assets are not in the PC version.

Even though they can be enabled and will appear in your lockers and garage, they will not function if selected; missing clothes and weapons will be invisible, and missing vehicles will crash the game.

This means the following DLCs cannot be restored:
Mountain Dew RollerHawg
Doritos Nacho Man Outfit
Golden Sledge Saw
Los Perdidos Tourist Shirt
Reaper Mask
Horse Head Mask
New Years Hat
Reindeer Hat

Thanks a lot for the information, I was able to advance a little in the game and see that it worked very well.

The PC version is "Apocalypse Edition" for everyone by default. That just means it comes with the season pass story DLCs and their associated items, not the other DLCs only released on Xbox One.

i have not experienced save loss from this. on one occasion i had the game act as if i had no saved progress, but after moving through the menus a bit and trying to load the game again, my save reappeared. not sure what causes that.
