Favorite Sentry Spots on 2Fort

Some of my favorite sentry spots on 2Fort.

Introduction

These are some of my favorite Sentry spots that I frequently use on 2Fort. While the effectiveness of these Sentry placements will depend on the situation, I've found they tend to work very well when used properly.

Drop near spawn

You can place the Sentry on either side of this drop near spawn facing one of the entrances, you can also place it on the middle of the gate or on the corners of the drop. Beware of Soldiers or Demomen, they can damage you and your buildings through the floor.

Stairs near spawn

If you put the Sentry on the edge of the stairs near spawn, it can fire through the gaps. The positioning is tricky to get right, I've found it tends to work better with a Level 2 Sentry due to the lower height.

Base Entrance

Place the Sentry right beside either base entrance facing the bridge or slightly forwards away from the back wall to avoid splash damage. You can also place your dispenser on the opposite side or in between the two entrances and safely heal your Sentry using The Rescue Ranger from a distance.

Sewer entrance

Put your Sentry beside the sewer entrance to catch enemy players entering the base off guard. Place the Dispenser behind this wall and heal your Sentry using The Rescue Ranger.

Entrance to spiral

An unusual spot beside the entrance to spiral. This Sentry placement works very well on anyone entering or leaving with the intelligence briefcase and injured enemies seeking the small heath kit.

Entrance to straight

A similar spot beside the entrance to straight. You can also put the Sentry above the stairs facing the doorway to hide it from enemies coming up.

Near intelligence briefcase

Injured enemy players will usually attempt to grab the large health kit located here near the intelligence briefcase, place the Sentry facing it to catch them by surprise.

Balcony near spawn

Place your Sentry on the balcony to the left facing the bridge and your Dispenser behind the corrugated wall, make sure to stay in between the two. As long as your Dispenser has a healthy supply of metal, enemies will have a tough time taking your Sentry down.

Underneath bridge

Place the Sentry underneath the bridge near a support beam to slightly obscure it from enemies, Mini-Sentries work very well here.

Middle of bridge

Place the Sentry on the middle of the bridge and place the Dispenser outside the enemy's base in one of the corners or the middle in between the entrances, use The Rescue Ranger to heal your Sentry from far away. This is a useful placement for a counter-offensive or protecting the intelligence briefcase carrier from the enemy team once he exits the base.

Enemy base entrances

Place the Sentry on the sloped part of either entrance facing into the enemy base. This Sentry placement will deal with enemies inside, but watch out for players from the balcony above.

Top of bridge

This spot is very risky to set up and takes a bit of practice, you'll need The Rescue Ranger and The Wrangler for this one. Build and fully upgrade your Sentry, Dispenser and Teleporter Entrance. When it's safe, move all your buildings except the Teleporter to the balcony or anywhere outside the base and use your Wrangled Sentry to rocket jump onto the bridge. Once your on top of the bridge, use The Rescue Ranger to grab your buildings and place them there as quickly as possible. Hide behind your Dispenser and heal your Sentry with The Rescue Ranger. Don't forget to build a Teleporter Exit to quickly get back onto the bridge if you fall or die.
