SAAB JAS-39 Gripen

The Saab 39 Gripen, in the Swedish Air Force designated JAS 39A/B/C/D Gripen, is a combat aircraft manufactured by Saab AB. The decision on a new aircraft system was taken in the Riksdag in 1982 by the Minister of Defense Torsten Gustafsson in connection with the Defense Decision 1982. The Gripen is one of the first multi-role aircraft that can be used for hunting(jakt), attack(attack) and reconnaissance(spaningsuppdrag) missions and also switch between them in flight, hence . prefix JAS.
