Janis Cakste Latvia Guide
De către Brm și colaboratorii 1
Are you looking for a Civ that can stand the might of your foes? How about a Civ that gives its cities increased strength and hitpoints? Then the Latvia is the Civ for you. Led by Janis Cakste, Latvia is ready to conquer. Latvias Unique Ability, Latvian Fortitude, gives land units +15% Combat Bonas in friendly territory and cities get increased Strength/Hitpoints. Latvias Unique Unit, the Latviesus Strelnieki, replaces the Great War Infantry and can fight well on the coast or near rivers. And finally Latvia has acces to a culture building, the Music Academy, which gives +1 Culture, 1 Slot of Great Work of Music, and 1 Slot for Music Specialists. With a strong late game military unit and highly defensed cities, you are ready to conquer, expand, and play as Latvia.

(NOTE: THIS IS A MOD AND REQUIRES THE BRAVE NEW WORLD EXPANSION. TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS OF THIS GUIDE, YOU MUST DOWNLOAD THE LATVIA CIV MOD FROM THE STEAM WORKSHOP AND HAVE THE BRAVE NEW WORLD EXPANSION!)

Latvian Misconceptions
Let's face it, every civ has misconceptions. Latvia is a Civ based on defensive strength, allowing Latvia to go for 'Non Combat' Victories, such a Diplomatic, Science and or Cultural. Players like to go for any Victory, making Latvia a Civ that is good all around.

Latvia is an all around good Civ that can conquer and expand at its own pace. This guide will show players how to play, expand, and conquer as Latvia.
Latvia, a Defensive/Cultural Civ
Starting out as Lativa, I recommend a coastal or river based map. (Continents, etc....) Latvia is Defensive Civ. The reason that I called it a 'Defnesive Civ' becuase Latvias Unique Ability, Latvian Fortitude, gives land units +15% Combat Bonas in friendly territory and also gives cities increased hit points and strength. This gives Latvia an advantage in achieving 'Non Combat' Victories like Cultural.

Latvia is sort of a Cultural Civ but it isnt like other Cultural Civs (France, etc..) Latvia only has access to its Unique Building, the Music Academy. (NOTE: YOU CAN ONLY USE UNIQUE BUILDING IN BRAVE NEW WORLD EXPANSION) The Music Academy gives +1 Culture, 1 Slot for a Great Work of Music, and 1 Slot for a Music Specialist. This building allows Latvia to create a domiinat culture ahead of other Civs, while having a strong cities to protect from foes.

Latvia has access to only one Unique Unit, the Latviesu strelnieki. This Latvain Unique replaces the Great War Infantry and has a stronger attack/defense when in combat on a coast or river. That is why I recommended a coastal or river type map. As of Social Policies go, choose Tradition, Liberty, Honor, and 2 other Policies. You also might want to go for a Cultural Victory as Latvia.
Thanks Hiram!
I would like to thank Hiram for giving me permission to make this guide for his mod. If you have any questions about the mod, ask him. Also, if you would rate this guide and download his mod in the Steam Workshop, that would show your support for the mod.
Questions?
Thank you for reading this guide on Latvia. If you have any questions/comments, post them below. Also, I plan to make more guides in the future, so if you could rate this guide and download the Hirams mod Latvia in the Steam Workshop, you would support us both. Tell me which Civ to do next!

Best suited for Cultural I believe, due to the fact that you get steamrolled in the early game on Immortal+, this is gonna be a big help, all I need to do is place a city next to a river and they are bound to fail.

@Rexz No this Civ doesnt replace any other Civs but is an interesting Civ to add to your game and Civ 5 experience. :)

This seems interesting. Does the LV civ replace any civs in game? :) Paldies.
