How to play PSX/PS1 games on Steam with RetroArch

Instructions on how to play PSX/PS1 games on Steam with RetroArch!

Step (1) Download RetroArch - Download Link
Download RetroArch, After You Need To Extract The File AKA Unzip It!
Step (2) PSX/PS1 BIOS
I CAN NOT GIVE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO OBTAIN A PSX/PS1 BIOS!
Step (3) Open Up RetroArch

Open Up "RetroArch-Win64-setup" Folder And Run RetroArch By Double-Clicking On "retroarch.exe"

After It Opens Look For Main Menu And Click On Online Updater!

Then Update Core Info Files, Assets, Controller Profiles, Cheats, Databases, Overlays, And GLSL Shaders!
Step (4) Core Downloader
Click Core Downloader!

Look For Sony - PlayStation (Beetle PSX HW) And Download It After Quit RetroArch!
Step (5) Copy PSX/PS1 Bios Files

Open Up The "Playstation 1 BIOs" Folder!


Copy The "scph5500.bin" "scph5501.bin" "scph5502.bin" Bios Files!


Open Up Your "RetroArch-Win64-setup" Folder And Find The "system" Folder And Open It Up!

Paste The "scph5500.bin" "scph5501.bin" "scph5502.bin" Bios Files In The "system" Folder!
Step (6) Open Up RetroArch Again

Open Up "RetroArch-Win64-setup" Folder And Run RetroArch By Double-Clicking On "retroarch.exe"


Click On Import Content!

Then Click Scan Directory!

After You Get To The Location Where You Have Your ROMS Saved Click "<Scan This Directory>"
Step (7) Click PlayStation In RetroArch

Click PlayStation In RetroArch!

Next Click On The ROM/Game You Like To Play!

Next Click Download Thumbnails!

Next Click Run!

Now Click On "Sony - PlayStation (Beetle PSX HW)"

Now Click Run Again! The Game Should Have Open Up Now After The Game Opens You Will Need To Close Out Of The Game/ROM!
Step (8) Copy Everything Inside The "RetroArch-Win64" Folder

Now Copy Everything In The "RetroArch-Win64" Folder! Open Up Your Steam Library Find Your RetroArch Right Click It And Click "Properties" Next Click "Installed Files" After Click "Browse" Now Paste All The Files Into Your RetroArch Folder On Steam!
*OPTIONAL* Best PSX/PS1 Graphic Settings (Part 1)
Open Up Your RetroArch!


Click On "Settings"

Click On "Video"

Click On "Output"

Click On "Video"

Click On "vulkan"

Now Open Up A ROM/Game You Will Like To Play After The Game Opens Up Press "F1" On Your Keyboard!

Click On "Core Options"

Click On "Video"

Click On "Internal GPU Resolution"

16x = Fast PC | 8x = Slow PC | 4x, 2x & 1x = Potato PC

Click On "Dithering Pattern"

Click On "OFF"

"Texture Filtering" is a graphics option that will change the way the textures and texts in the game looks I personally prefer the default options "Nearest" but this is all personal preference so play around and see what you like!

Click On "Multi-Sampled Anti Aliasing"

16x = Fast PC | 8x = Slow PC | 4x, 2x & 1x = Potato PC

Turn "On" "MDEC YUV Chroma Filter"

Click On "Core Aspect Ratio"

Click On "Force 4:3"

Go Back To "Core Options" & Click "Emulation Hacks"

Turn "On" "GTE Overclock"

Go Back To "Core Options" & Click "Renderer (Restart Required)"

Click On "Hardware (Vulkan)"

Click On "CD Access Method (Restart Required)"

Click On "Pre-Cache"

Go Back To The "Quick Menu" Click On "Shaders"

Turn "On" "Video Shaders"

Click On "Load"

Click On "shaders_slang"

Click On "anti-aliasing"

Click On "fxaa.slangp"

Click On "Save"

Click On "Save Core Preset"

Click On "PGXP (Precision Geometry Transform Pipeline)"

Click On "PGXP Operation Mode"

Click On "Memory Only" *NOTE* Some Games May Work Better With "PGXP Operation Mode" Being Set To "OFF" Are Set To "Memory + CPU (Buggy)"

Turn "Off" "PGXP 2D Geometry Tolerance" *NOTE* Some Games May Work Better With "PGXP 2D Geometry Tolerance" Set To "ON"
*OPTIONAL* Best PSX/PS1 Graphic Settings (Part 2)
Turn "On" "PGXP Primitive Culling" *NOTE* Some Games May Work Better With "PGXP Primitive Culling" Set To "OFF"

Turn "Off" "PGXP Vertex Cache" *NOTE* Some Games May Work Better With "PGXP Vertex Cache" Set To "NO"

Turn "On" "PGXP Perspective Correct Textureing" *NOTE* Some Games May Work Better With "PGXP Perspective Correct Textureing" Set To "OFF"

Now Close Out Of Your Game And Restart The Game So The Setting Will Apply
HAVE FUN!!!
Now Go Play PSX/PS1 Games On Steam With RetroArch!

@altijdonne The point is so you can have all the features and play it on Steam without following the full guide you won't be able to fully have it working on Steam!

why do none of the bios work? do i need all 3 or just one?
