Intro
I have placed a lot of traps during my time in Mordhau, and I'm still mad about the change where they made the traps more visible, all those hours finding the old spots wasted. Now we got to make do with being predictable, but you will still get a lot out of them for a good few matches before it’s time to switch server.
Talking
I myself only use beartraps in deathmatch and team deathmatch since I’m always on the move in objective based matches, so that is what this guide will focus on, but some maps are better suited for traps than others. I will post pictures of every good or decent spot I can think about, some are well hidden while others just work for some reason, I guess it’s the mental game coming into play there. I will not include Arid, Dungeon (as well as alternative dungeon) and Noria since I have not placed any traps in Arid and Noria, and when it comes to Dungeon (alternative) there is really only the walkways between the explosive barrel and the hog, and I have not practiced any spots in the full Dungeon map anyway.

After the changes they did where they made the traps more prominent, you can 95% of the time only really make them look good from one side. Before this you could fully conceal it but now you have to target one direction. How I usually test my bear trap spots is by placing it in a location, then running up to it while looking straight ahead, and seeing how much it pops out when I approach it. You found a good spot? Try it out in a match and see if it bears fruit.

The Meat
Arena:

Camp:
This ladder spot is bait, this is probably the only ladder in the game that won't instantly trap someone when they climb up.

Castello:

Contraband:
Pick one of the two spots, or switch them when it triggers.

One in the corner, the other on the side.

This is the one you can see diagonally up to the left in the picture above.

For some reason, this one "just works". Try to lign it up with the charred marks on the ground.

Pick one of the corners, then switch them after each trigger.

This spot is good if they fight higher up.

As is this one.

This one and the next few are on the right side of the map.

This one and the next one is on the left side of the map.

This is in the far top of the map.

And this is at the bottom.

Cortile:
This trap is basically invisible, even when the opponent is almost standing on it.

Feitoria:

Grad:
This spot is good if someone is chasing you around the well.

People just keep on running into this one for some reason.

This beartrap is practically invisible for people taking the stairs.

Instant ladder trap, like most ladders.

Good in lobbies with less competent players.

Much like the spot in contraband with ash, this spot simply "just works".

The stairs eat up the trap so its a great spot if you want to camp a bit, or as a back up plan while you are getting chased.

Mountain peak:
There are a couple of snowpiles that stops weapons but not beartraps nor bodies. This also means that you can use the squatting emotes and be invincible to all but scary firebombs.

Taiga:
You have to be careful with Taiga, at least for me the ground changes position when I'm in different points of view.

I have not moved at all, but the differences are quite drastic.

A lot of people enjoy sitting in this bush, why not give them a present?

The Pit:
A really sneaky spot, but it can be tricky to get it right.

Tourney:
Place the traps like this in all of the four doorways and close the doors.

After people start figuring that out, place them in these stone squares instead.

When placing the beartraps here, move them further in like this, since most people are running for the ammo box this will increase the odds of them getting hit.

Outro
I actually got trolled with this guide, I have made a mega guide for a bunch of stuff but It was with a mere 7 pictures that I went over the cap, how annying, how annoying. Ah well, enjoy the bear trap spots, maybe you got some absolute juicer hiding somewhere? Cheers!
