If you would like to test your music without uploading the mod, you can follow the following steps:

  • Drag the structure into the map
  • Click the play button
  • Hold "E" on the structure
    - You should see all your categories and songs and all songs should work

  • Click "Reset Mod Guid"
    - Always click this button before cooking the mod
    - Your server/client uses this id to check if the mod has been updated
  • Click "Cook Game Mod" at the top
    - This can take 30 minutes or more on low end systems

    • Ark Editor cooks some useless files with it that just makes the mod bigger. +- 15 MB
    • You can remove these files before uploading the mod.
    • When cooking is done, remove the "PrimalEarth" folder from these 2 locations:
      • <PathToInstallLocation>\ARKEditor\ModTools\Output\RhythmboxCustomMusic\LinuxNoEditor\
      • <PathToInstallLocation>\ARKEditor\ModTools\Output\RhythmboxCustomMusic\WindowsNoEditor\

  • Click "Upload" at the bottom
Info
Remember that you still need the Rhythmbox mod, this just adds music to the original mod.

Known errors/questions
Ark Editor crashes while cooking the mod.
This can mean there is not enough memory available.
64GB memory recommended. You can use pagefile for this.
I have 16GB RAM and 64GB pagefile.

Ark Editor cooker shows many files that are not from the mod.
It does, this is normal.

Ark Editor says there are thousands of warnings after cooking is done.
Don't worry about the warnings, just make sure there are zero errors.

Steam says my mod file size is 0.000 MB or mod won't install in ARK.
This probably means your Preview Image is too large.
Maximum size is 1MB and maximum resolution is 1000x1000.

Yes, the modname (the title in the Steam Upload section, not the foldername) can be whatever you want.

You need to upload it to steam so players that want to join your server can install it.
You could try to set it as Unlisted (this means players can't find the mod on the workshop, so you will need to add a link to the workshop page).

The correct path is the one with "ExampleSong_Wav", is a bit confusing now that you say it. This is the name of the file, the full file name is "ExampleSong_Wav.wav".
Just right click the sound file and copy reference, that's the correct one.
The only difference between my path and yours should be the text after the "/Music/"

Can I rename the mod to whatever or do I have to keep the name of it to work properly? And is it maybe possible to use the Extension without uploading to Steam Workshop? I want to use copyright music and dont want to share it to the whole internet :)

Oh yeah and I got a bit confused in the json file. The path to a song should be:
"SongFile": "SoundWave'/Game/Mods/RhythmboxCustomMusic/Music/ExampleSong_Wav.ExampleSong_Wav'"

I guess u mean it should be:
"SongFile": "SoundWave'/Game/Mods/RhythmboxCustomMusic/Music/ExampleSong.wav'"

Am I right? Cause i cant find a path to my file looking like your description.

Great Guide btw and thanks for the opportunity to add your own music to the game :)
Feel free to slide into my DM's to clarify things :)
