Barnacle Class Coastal Artillery Ship

Description: The Barnacle class of warship is a coastal artillery battery featuring a single High Explosive 2000mm naval rifle fitted with several 150mm HEAT secondaries and 8X long range cruise missiles.

History: The Barnacle Class Coastal Artillery Ship is something of a "Floating International Crime" among the Naval intelligence community of Neter. The scandal surrounding this ship is intertwined with her inception and eventual deception. This ship started off life as Steel Empire Era Bulk Cargo/Oil Tanker and sat in a Cold Loch Scrapyard for several years as war reparations until she would be given new life as a Coastal Artillery Ship for the Eriwick Liberation Party. The reason this happened was due to the financial slump the Onyx Watch was in during this time caused by the Cold Lochs freezing over cascading into worker strikes from ship-breaker's unions along with the economic wounds of war still fresh. Economic factors compounded with the larger political interests of having a potential ally against a common hated enemy, The DeepWater Guard made the Watches decision to sell this ship along with several bulks viable. The Guard's recent territorial gains further bolstered the Watches parliament's decision to green-light the selling of several bulks. The Ship's overhaul in the Cold Lochs included Adding a 2000mm Naval Artillery piece crafted with the advice of the "Finest Gunsmiths on all of Neter!" (-LochForge Industrial Marine), followed by 4 secondary Casemates loaded with HEAT/Shaped Charge shells, and 8 "Arrow" Short Range cruise missiles scavenged from an Onyx Watch Scrapyard (of imperial origin). Following the Ashes Treaty an area of exclusion for all armed vessels was setup for a majority of Neter's Open Ocean where territories became vague and tensions ran high. Following Barnacle's Overhaul Her loading crane lifted the end of the Cannon barrel ran nearly vertical, all missile launchers were disconnected from their mounts and made to look like bulk Cargo on deck with tarps covering their contents. Each Casemate had their guns clumsily removed through the narrow passageways of the turret and placed below deck. This "Civilian" ship made it through disputed waters unscathed and was quickly put into action against Deepwater Guard Militias along the coast holding coastal villiages. The long term political ramifications of violating international law would no doubt sow distrust between the Steel Striders and the Fledgling (ELP).
