How to compile Frosty for NFS Unbound
Autorstwa: ᴀᴘꜱᴏɴᴜꜱ
The Frosty Toolsuite[frostytoolsuite.com] is a platform for modding games running on the Frostbite engine.

I do not own Frosty and I'm also not associated with it in any way, I'm only making this guide so people who had no previous experience with Visual Studio can easily compile it.

Prerequisites
In order to build Frosty with Visual Studio you're gonna need the following things...
  • Visual Studio 2022 Community (wow no way) | Download Link[visualstudio.microsoft.com]

  • FrostyToolsuite 1.0.7.0 | Download Link[github.com]
Keep in mind this version of frosty doesn't work for Unbound Vol 3

  • KittySkin's Fixed version of Frosty 1.0.7.0 for NFS Unbound Vol 3 | Download Link[github.com]

  • Some patience, Visual Studio can sometimes be really slow.
Video Guide
If you prefer to watch a video instead of having a text guide, here you go.
Setting up Visual Studio
Text verison of the guide starting below.

So first off you wanna download Visual Studio 2022 Community from the link I provided earlier.

Go ahead and press the Free download button and then start the Visual Studio installer.

You should see a prompt like this.

Just press continue.

Then you should see something like this.

You wanna uncheck EVERYTHING, so only "Visual Studio core editor" remains under installation details.
You also wanna press "Add Workloads" when you get a prompt asking about them.
When you do those two things proceed by clicking Install.

An image with somewhat of a description so you don't get confused.

When you see this you can do whatever you want, you can press skip cause that won't require you to set up an account if you don't have one and don't want one.

After you finish setting that up you should get a window like this.
Press on Open a project or solution.

And then open FrostyEditor.sln located in FrostyToolsuite1.0.7\FrostyEditor\

You should get a prompt like that, simply press Install.

And then press Install again.
Now you have to wait for Visual Studio to download the required things, but with this you have basically set up Visual Studio.
Building Frosty
With Visual Studio now set up, you can build Frosty

Although first you have to Retarget FrostyHash.

Right click on FrostyHash.

Press Retarget Project.

Usually you wanna leave this at default so it says latest installed version and press OK.

After doing that you can then build Frosty Editor, it's plugins and Frosty Mod Manager.

Right click on FrostyEditor, and press Build.

Do the same for the Plugins folder, right click on it and then press Build.

Your Frosty Editor should be in FrostyToolsuite1.0.7\FrostyEditor\bin\Developer\Debug\

A freshly built Frosty Editor.

datapath fix is only mentioned in the video im not gonna re record the entire thing just because its optional now, building process is still the same

when you look up tutorials on google it shows you steam guides regardless of your platform

and i didn't change the links because i actually forgot that it still has the old ones, you just said "outdated guide" without really saying what exactly it is about it that's outdated

i'm also quite busy recently so i don't pay all my attention to steam guides, i'll update it later

> datapathfix is still required on epic games for example

Since the guide is written in STEAM's community hub and not anywhere else, IMO there is no actual necessity to mention that DatapathFix is required for other versions of Unbound.

> you just need a different branch

Then why don't you bother to update the guide so them links lead to a working branch?

datapathfix is still required on epic games for example but the general process of building frosty is the same though you just need a different branch
