A3R - Arma 3 Remastered | Installation Guide

Introduction
This is a step-by-step guide on installing and customizing your mods with A3R. The initial Install only needs to be completed once. Add your own mods by checking out the Customize sections. Then Update A3R with every new release.

Use the Guide Index in the sidebar to jump between sections.

Are you an Arma veteran that wants to use your own controls? Then check out the Advanced sections to get only the mods and add-on options.
Install
Follow step by step to get the expected results. This is the easiest way to install A3R for beginners.

Download mods

1. Go to the A3R - Core (Arma 3 Remastered) Steam Workshop page

2. Scroll down to the Play Now banner, and click Subscribe to all

Download the A3R files
3. Click here[drive.google.com] or the DOWNLOAD[drive.google.com] button which will take you to the A3R Google Dive. Click "Continue to external site"

4.Download the latest Arma 3 Remastered ZIP file save the ZIP file anywhere, like your Desktop

5. Extract the files from the ZIP file

Install the A3R files
6.Place the Arma 3 - Other Profiles folder into C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents aka your documents folder.

The documents folder must have an already existing folder named Arma 3. If there is no Arma 3 folder there, look inside your OneDrive\Documents folder.

7. Open Arma 3 Launcher

Import the A3R mod preset
8. Go to Mods > Preset (top right of launcher) > Import

9. Import the Arma 3 Remastered HTML file

10. Select the preset: Arma 3 Remastered v## to activate the mod preset

Activate the A3R Profile
11. Click PLAY WITH MODS

12. Go to Profiles and click your profile name (Top right of the in-game main menu)

13. Select nanner A3R. Do NOT click EDIT. Click OK

14. Go to Profiles again

15. Click EDIT, and rename the profile (to a name you have never used before)

16. Click APPLY

17. Click OK

18. Go to Video Settings, and click Auto-Adjust or set video settings manually. Click OK

19. Close Arma 3

20. Re-open Arma 3 (Click PLAY WITH MODS) and Play!
(Optional) Create Mod Preset
Create Workshop Collection
1. Go to Arma 3 Steam Workshop

2. Find and click Favorite and Subscribe to All for each of the collections and Subscribe to mods you want in your mod set. (eg. Arma 3 Remastered: Core collection)

Add any other RDLCs and individual mods from A3R Add-on collections or any other mods you want to be included and Favorite those, too. *(click link for an explanation between RDLC and Add-ons).

2. Go to Collections

3. Click Create Collection

4. Give your collection a title
5. Select a branding image (this can be any image Steam allows)

6. Click Save and Continue

7. Add/Edit Child Items
a. Click the tab Items in your Favorites
b. Click to add Arma 3 Remastered: Core collection and any other collections and mods you want in your mod preset. The added items appear below
c. Click Save and Continue

8. Click Publish

Generate your Mod Preset
9. Click Share

10. Copy the workshop link for your collection

11. Go to the Arma Preset Creator[armapresetcreator.co.uk]
a. Paste the workshop link to the Workshop IDs field
b. Click Create

12. Click the arrow to minimize the mod list

13. Click Download Preset and save the HTML file to your PC

Import your mod preset
14. Open Arma 3 Launcher

15. Go to Mods > Preset (top right of launcher) > Import

16. Import the Mod Preset HTML file

17. Activate your new custom preset

18. Click PLAY WITH MODS
(Optional) Customize Mod Preset
Add mods to your existing custom collection
1. Find the mod or collection on the Steam Workshop that you want to add to your preset
a. Click Subscribe
b. Click Add to Collection

2. Check the checkbox next to your collection name and click OK

Generate your Mod Preset
3. Click Share

4. Copy the workshop link for your collection

5. Go to the Arma Preset Creator[armapresetcreator.co.uk]
a. Paste the workshop link to the Workshop IDs field
b. Click Create

6. Click the arrow to minimize the mod list

7. Click Download Preset and save the HTML file to your PC

8. Open Arma 3 Launcher

9. Go to Mods > Preset (top right of launcher) > Import

10. Import the Mod Preset HTML file

11. Activate your new custom preset

12. Click PLAY WITH MODS
(Advanced) Install Mods Only

5. Go to Mods > Click Preset (top right of launcher) > Click Import

6. Import the Arma 3 Remastered HTML file

7. Activate the new Arma 3 Remastered preset

8. Click PLAY WITH MODS
(Advanced) Install Controls Only*
Two Methods
1. Quick Method: Copy the profile which comes with a quick install of the key binds, but will also come with game options and mission progress that might not match yours.
2. Manual Method: Manually update your key binds by referencing the A3R Controls spreadsheet

Quick Method
Download the Profiles

1. Go to the Arma 3 Remastered Steam Workshop page

2. Click the Controls[drive.google.com] button which takes you to the A3R Google Drive

3. Download the latest A3R ZIP file.

4. Extract the nannerA3R.Arma3Profile and nannerA3R.vars.Arma3Profile files from the ZIP file.

Install the Profiles

5. Place the files into C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Arma 3 or C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Arma 3 - Other Profiles\PROFILE NAME

If there is no Arma 3 folder there, look inside your OneDrive\Documents folder.

6. Rename the nannerA3R.Arma3Profile and the nannerA3R.vars.Arma3Profile files to your PROFILE NAME instead of nanner%20A3R%20vXX. This will overwrite your existing Arma3Profile file.

(Optional): Save a backup of your current PROFILE NAME.Arma3Profile and PROFILE NAME.vars.Arma3Profile file. The new Arma3Profile files will cause you to lose your mission progress, game settings, and UI layout.

Update video settings
7. Open Arma 3 Launcher
8. Click PLAY
9. Go to Video Settings, and click Auto-Adjust or set video settings manually
10. Close Arma 3
11. Re-open Arma 3

#Using the controls file to quickly copy the controls will also overwrite:
- Video Settings
- Audio Settings
- Game Settings
- Mission Progress

Manual Method
If you want to copy only the controls, you will have to manually update your key binds by referencing the A3R Controls table.
(Advanced) Install Addon Options Only
Get the Addon Options

1. Go to the Arma 3 Remastered Steam Workshop page

2. Click the Addon Options button[drive.google.com], which opens Google Drive and open the latest Addon Options file.

3. Copy all of the text. (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C)

Import the Addon Options

4. Open Arma 3 in-game main menu

5. Click Tutorials > VR Arsenal

6. Click Try

7. Press Esc (Pause) > Options > Addon Options
(Optional): Select Export to copy and paste a backup of your current Addon Options

8. Click Import

9. Paste (Ctrl+V) the text from the Addon Options files you copied in step 3. Click OK.

10. Click OK again

11. Exit VR Arsenal
