Pepe's Wars:

Pepe's Wars is a series of ship collections intended to tell a story, showing an evolution of ship design as a series of wars progressed across the galaxy. Each collection or 'line' of ships was created with a core idea in mind, and the ships within that line are an evolution of one to another, guided by the demands of the wars. Additionally, each different line shows a rough timeline, and you should see how one line becomes obsolete or surpassed by the next 'technological advancement'. For example, the 'beamships' line got out-ranged by the subsequent 'railgun kiters' line, which in turn were beaten out by the 'lensing ships'. Download all collections in the Pepe's Wars series to get the full story in the ships' descriptions.

All ships in the Pepe's Wars collection have been designed for function above form, so please read the descriptions or the ship info in-game to understand my core concepts behind each design. They are not the prettiest ships, but hopefully you will agree they are effective at their roles.

Scaled Ships:

The 'scaled' ships offer the best of the best when it comes to defence, deploying the state-of-the-art 'scaled armor', a combination of shield domes and armor brakers. This armor proved highly effective during the fifth war - so much so that an entire line of ships was comissioned around it. Scaled ships rely on deck guns, due to space that the new armor required.

The Ships:

Claymore
The Claymore is, oddly, the smallest ship that the engineers could fit the scaled armor onto, thus setting an expensive starting price for the line. The new armor layout drastically reduced mass, allowing engineers to double-down on this advantage by fitting huge thruster arrays kept from the previous 'brawler' line. Massive deck guns deliver high damage at close range, further necessitating the speed. Overall The Claymore represented a new era in ship defence, and completely overshadowed The Hurricane that arrived just a few years before it.

Vargur
The Vargur is a direct upgrade from The Claymore - more firepower whilst somehow keeping the impressive speed that the deck guns required, thanks largely to the mass-efficient 'scaled armor' innovation. The Vargur became famous during the end of the fifth war, as its predecessor The Claymore was already greatly-feared. When The Vargur arrived on the field, most other ships fled. The Vargur struggled to deal with minebombers during the seventh war.

Naglfar
The Naglfar represented a shift in doctrine for the scaled ships - a move away from raw speed, choosing to double down on the survivability with the addition of a second skin of scaled armor, and by renewing its commitment to sheer damage potential. The reduction of speed caused the engineers a dilema - being out-ranged and kited - and so the ship was cored and an immense 32-emitter laser installed, able to rotate and fire behind the ship also. Tractor beams rounded out the fitting, able to push or pull targets as required. The Naglfar is a terrifying vessel, and proved its worth at the offset of the sixth war.

Ragnarok
The Ragnarok is an absurd vessel. Dense with firepower, with the addition of quad-barrel railguns and retaining the 32-emitter beam lasers, The Ragnarok was invented to end the sixth war entirely. Making solid use of the then-proven scaled armor to brush aside incoming fire, The Ragnarok cast its shadow across the battelfield and left nothing surviving in its wake. Only three were ever contructed, and only one was ever overcome. A fearsome reputation preceded this ship wherever it chose to go.
