Instructions on how to play Dreamcast games on Steam with RetroArch!

Step (1) Download RetroArch - Download Link
Download RetroArch, After You Need To Extract The File AKA Unzip It!
Step (2) Dreamcast BIOS
I CAN NOT GIVE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO OBTAIN A DREAMCAST BIOS!!
Step (3) Open Up RetroArch

Open Up "RetroArch-Win64-setup" Folder And Run RetroArch By Double-Clicking On "retroarch.exe"

After It Opens Look For Main Menu And Click On Online Updater!

Then Update Core Info Files, Assets, Controller Profiles, Cheats, Databases, Overlays, And GLSL Shaders!
Step (4) Core Downloader
Click Core Downloader!

Look For Sega - Dreamcast/Naomi (Flycast) And Download It After Quit RetroArch!
Step (5) DC Bios Folder

Rename The "dc_bios" Folder To "dc"


Copy Your "dc" Folder!


Open Up Your "RetroArch-Win64-setup" Folder And Find The "system" Folder and Open It Up!

Paste The "dc" Folder Into The "system" Folder

Open Up The "dc" Folder These Are The Bioes Files That Should Be In There!
Step (6) Create A New Folder
Create A New Folder And Name It "Sega - Dreamcast Games"

Put All Your Dreamcast ROMS/Games Into The "Sega - Dreamcast Games" Folder You Made!
Step (7) *WARNING* "m3u" File
*WARNING!!!* If Your ROM/Game Does Not Come With Multiple Discs You Can Skip This Part But If They Do Have Multiple Discs You Need To Do This Step!

Right Click Inside The "Sega - Dreamcast Games" Folder Click "New" Then Click "Text Document"

Rename The "Text Document" To The Name Of The ROM/Game That You Are Going To Use!

Inside the "Sega - Dreamcast Games" Folder At The Top Click On "View"


Next Click "Show" And After Click "File name extensions" Make Sure There's A Check Mark Next To It!

Copy The Full Name Of The ROM/Game Including The File Name Extension!

Open Up The "Text Document" That You Created and Paste The ROM/Game Name In There You Will Have To Add All The Dice Names So If You Have More Than I Do Add Them All After You Are Done Save The "Text Document"

Rename The "Text Document" But This Time You Will Not Be Changing The Name But The File Name Extension It Self So Delete The ".txt" and Change It To ".m3u"

After Changing The File Name Extension Just Click "Yes"

Now If You Have Done Everything Right The "Text Document" Should Now Look Like A "m3u" File!

*WARNING* You Will Have To Do Step (7) For Every ROM/Game That You Have That Has Multiple Discs Each!
Step (8) RetroArch + F5

Open Up "RetroArch-Win64-setup" Folder And Run RetroArch By Double-Clicking On "retroarch.exe"

When You Are On The Main Menu Of RetroArch Press "F5" On Your Keyboard!

Right Click In The White Box Under "Videos" And Click On "New Playlist"


Name The "New Playlist" "Sega - Dreamcast" And Then Click OK!

Right Click In The Big White Box Under "Name" and Click On "Add Folder"

Locate The "Sega - Dreamcast Games" Folder That You Made After Click On "Select Folder"

The "Playlist Entry" Will Come Up Set The "Core" To "Flycast" & Set The "Database" To "Sega - Dreamcast" Then Click OK!

All Your ROMS/Games Will Now Show Here!

*WARNING* This Part Is For The People That Did Step (7)! You Will Need To Delete All Your "Disc" From The List And All The "Tracks" As Well If You Have Any! Make Sure You Don't Delete The ".m3u" File That You Made!
Step (9) Thumbnails & Box Art
*WARNING* You Can Skip Step (9) If You Don't Care About Adding Thumbnails & Box Art To Your ROMS/Games On RetroArch!

Thumbnails & Box Art Website Link!

Type The Name Of The Game Into The "Search Bar" Of The Game You Would Like A Thumbnails/Box Art For!

Click On The Game Name Of The Game You Are Looking For A Thumbnails/Box Art For!

Next Click On "Media" and Then Click On "Boxes"


Now Click On A Thumbnails/Box Art That You Would Like To Have!

Now Right Click On The Thumbnails/Box Art You Would Like To Have And Click "Save image as" And Now Download The Thumbnails/Box Art!

Go To Your PC Start Menu On Windows and Type In "Paint" Into Your Search Bar And Then Open Up "Paint" After Drag And Drop Your Thumbnail/Box Art That You Downloaded Into "Paint" Now Click One "File" At The Top Left Corner Then Click On "Save as" And Now Click On "PNG picture" And Save It As A "png" File!

Now The Thumbnail/Box Art That You Just Made Into A "png" File Just Drag And Drop It Into The Thumbnail/Box Art Slot!
Step (10) Restart RetroArch
Go Back Into Your RetroArch And Click On The "Restart RetroArch" Button And Your RetroArch Will Reopen Up!


Now Click On "Dreamcast"

Click On The ROM/Game You Would Like To Play!

Now Click On "Run" After The ROM/Game Has Open Close Out Of It!
Step (11) Copy Everything Inside The "RetroArch-Win64" Folder

Now Copy Everything In The "RetroArch-Win64" Folder! Open Up Your Steam Library Find Your RetroArch Right Click It And Click "Properties" Next Click "Installed Files" After Click "Browse" Now Paste All The Files Into Your RetroArch Folder On Steam!
*OPTIONAL* Best Dreamcast Graphic Settings
Open Up Your RetroArch!


Click On "Settings"

Click On "Video"

Click On "Output"

Click On "Video"

Click On "vulkan"

Now Open Up A ROM/Game You Will Like To Play After The Game Opens Up Press "F1" On Your Keyboard!

Click On "Core Options"

Click On "Video"

Click On "Internal Resolution" & Set What Resolution You Would Like To Use!

Set What "Cable Type" Base Off Of What Monitor And TV You Are Using!

Set "Broadcast Standard" To "NTSC"

Set "Alpha Sorting" To "Per-Triangle (normal)"

Set "Enable RTT (Render To Texture) Buffer" To "ON"

Set "Mipmapping" To "ON"

Set "Fog Effect" To "ON"

Set "Volume Modifier" To "NO"

16 = Fast PC | 8 = Slow PC | 4, 2 & OFF = Potato PC

"Texture Filtering" It's A Personal Preference Pick What You Prefer!

Set "Delay Fram Swapping" To "ON"

Set "Detect Frame Rate Changes" To "ON"

Set "PowerVR2 Post-processing Filter" To "ON"

"Texture Upscaling {xBRZ}" It's A Personal Preference Pick What You Prefer!

Go Back To "Core Options" & Click On "Performance"

Set "Threaded Rendering" To "ON"

Go Back To The "Quick Menu" & Click On "Shaders"

Click On "Load"

Click On "shaders_slang"

Click On "anti-aliasing"

Click On "fxaa.slangp"

Click On "Save"

Click On "Save Core Preset"

Now Close Out Of Your Game And Restart The Game So The Setting Will Apply

Now Go Play Dreamcast Games On Steam With RetroArch!
