Beskrivelse
I found the ACAV very cool, but the AI's inability to use their support guns mitigated their lethality outside of player hands. This mod remedies that by forcing the AI to always turn out (cannot turn in) on these turrets.

Previously I believe the AI only used the side-guns if you turned out with them, or they were in safe/careless mode. Now they are always manning them until they are no longer alive.

Yes, it will mean they are more vulnerable - on the flipside they'll be able to engage players more effectively. If you want total protection then just use a transport M113.

AI engage with hand grenades and small arms fire to snipe the gunners when able. I did not test if they use AT but there is no reason they wouldn't, so I assume that is fine.

I have tested and in the editor between two masses of unarmed OPFOR found the following vehicles worked fine:

ACAV M2 - no problems
ACAV M134 (Minigun) - no problems
ACAV 1911 (dual) - no problems
ACAV M2/M40 Recoilless - AI on the recoilless does not fire. It did for me once, I am not sure why it doesn't now. But the other M60 on the flank does fire. I am able to fire it myself, so I can't say why it's misbehaving.
ACAV M60 - no problems
ACAV MK18 - no problem
Base M113 - untouched, so it should be the same as before. Meaning the AI do not naturally turn out.

I have it eject a dead ACAV support gunner, as if not their corpse clips on the roof of the vehicle and looks off. So I know that's an issue but one I do not know how to solve (to get them to return to their in-vehicle not turned out position when dead)

BTR-50 = I was going to do this but the AI doesn't use the SGM machine gun on the roof, so it's moot.

Report any issues and if it is in my power I will fix it.

Will not take requests to do this for any other vehicle. If they make it so the AI ever uses the BTR-SGM LMG then I will do it for BTR-50s.

Do not know/not in the mood to replicate clones of ACAV m113s with this. Just use this as an all or nothing replacement.

We appreciate the input, but yeah hopefully the sog devs patch it.

The BTR-50 sadly has the AI not pick up the machine gun if they turn out. With the m113 they automatically (and only) use the implaced guns. I am not sure what to do to make them do so, if it's even possible.

In theory it might work to have the guys just turn out and use their small arms. I am not sure if it'd work the same, but I decided not to as that would kind of defeat the purpose of an armored APC for everyone to be turning out to shoot.

Naturally that is what the hatchets on a BMP and other stuff were designed to do - to let people do that. But I feel like that'd kind of defeat the purpose of the BTR-50 as an armored APC if you can just snipe the AI on top.

If the sog devs patch it so the AI auto-pick up the LMG on the pintle then I'll go ahead and do it.

Incredible!

Any chance you could consider this for the BTR-50 as well?

Thank you so much for this mod! I had been driving myself crazy trying to get these gunners to actually man their guns
