Better Dwarf Miners

Descrição
In the tabletop game, Dwarf Miners are a good way to put a normally slow unit of Dwarf Warriors on the flanks of an enemy force. In addition, the fluff says that Dwarf Miners and Dwarf Warriors come from the exact same background, being a worker in peacetime but able to muster into a capable military force as easily as flipping a switch. Here, Dwarf Miners are the single cannon-fodder unit that Dwarves have, being far inferior to Dwarf Warriors in melee combat instead of a way to create a new battleline where an enemy won't expect. This mod is meant to fix that by buffing the capabilities of Miners so that they can hold their own against Warriors.

Overview
  • Armour of all Miner units dropped from 80 to 45.
  • Leadership of Miner units dropped from 68 to 66.

  • Upkeep Cost of Ekrund's Miners increased from 150 to 194.
  • Autoresolve/Balance of Power value of Miners has been adjusted to compensate for their improvements.
  • Miner torsos and legs have been replaced with Ranger torsos and legs to go with their lighter armor.

Excavators
This mod also improves the Excavators that come from the Dwarf Characters Expansion mod. This instead tries to make Excavators equivalent to Longbeards and Unrad's Excavators equivalent to a mixture of Hammerers and Ironbreakers. The Dwarf Character's Expansion is not required for this mod to function, if you don't want to use the Expansion then this mod will still work just fine.
  • HP per model of Excavators increased from 80 to 84.
  • HP per model of Unrad's Excavators increased from 93 to 94.
  • Leadership of Excavators increased from 75 to 76.
  • Leadership of Unrad's Excavators reduced from 95 to 91.
  • Melee Attack of Excavators increased from 25 to 30.
  • Melee Attack of Unrad's Excavators reduced from 40 to 38.
  • Melee Defence of Excavators increased from 30 to 36.
  • Melee Defence of Unrad's Excavators increased from 40 to 45.
  • Base Melee damage of all Excavators increased from 5 to 9.
  • Armour Piercing damage of all Excavators increased from 17 to 25.
  • Charge Bonus of all Excavators increased from 12 to 18.
  • Cost of Excavators increased from 450 to 750.
  • Cost of Unrad's Excavators increased from 800 to 1100.
  • Upkeep of Excavators increased from 110 to 188.
  • Upkeep of Unrad's Excavators increased from 150 to 228.
  • Autoresolve/Balance of Power value of Excavators has been adjusted to compensate for their improvements.

Summary
Dwarf Miners are no longer a roadblock unit and are instead a melee counterpart to Rangers, having similar stats to Dwarf Warriors with Great Weapons but less leadership, health, melee defence and armor but more speed, just like how Rangers compare to Quarrelers. In combination with Rangers, they can be used as a way to deploy an infantry line that trades some resilience for versatile deployment options. While they don't have Stalk, they can still creep through forested maps without being seen just like Rangers and the lack of Stalk can even be used to your advantage through leaving the Miner unit visible, but not the Ranger unit nearby. Making them have lower armor, health, melee defence and leadership compared to Warriors is so there would still be reason to use Warriors over Miners.

Totally understandable, friend. I am a tabletop purist, but even I have agreed with some of CA's adaptations ;)

@Lampros In regards to your proposals regarding speed and armor. In regards to the part about the tabletop, there are plenty of other disconnects between the tabletop and TWW that are added in for gameplay reasons. For example, Slayers on the tabletop are just as slow as the rest of the dwarfs while they are Fast (for a Dwarf) in TWW. Hammerers and Longbeards have equal armor compared to Warriors on the tabletop but in game, the two units have 15 more armor. I'll need far more than one person's personal opinion to change the mod.

Thanks!

@Lampros main_units_tables the two columns are melee CP and ranged CP

Exactly on the speed increase. On balance of power, on what file can I see it? And what value am I looking for precisely?
Autumnchain  [autor] 11 jun. 2023 às 14:04
@Lampros I just had to adjust the value of the Balance of Power to go with the Miners increase in stats, which also affected their autoresolve power. In regards to the lesser armor, that was so that there would be reason to still use Dwarf Warriors but I suppose I could put their armor and speed back to what it was before. The thing is, the speed increase is rather modest while dropping armor from 85 to 45 is quite significant.

Also, one question: Do you need to adjust AR every time you significantly change unit stats? I thought AR would automatically take account of the relevant stat changes in its calculation? I am shocked if this weren't the case already.

Also, some stuff I don't get; for instance, Miners and Warriors had the same armor on the tabletop.
