Requirements to Unlock Program X
To unlock program X you need to complete every single trial for the first three programs.
(Basically beat all the levels inside the first 3 maps) Doing this unlocks the Program X which is required to beat the game.

Beating Program X
Once the first 3 programs are completed you need to complete all the trials inside of Program X. Doing so grants the player with 1 release token per trial completed, stacking up to a total of 10 trials with 10 release tokens inside Program X.
What to do next
Once you have all 10 Release Tokens you can go to this guy who will open the middle door and lead you to your final trial.

The final trials is titled "Farewell Mansion' and has you do the opening intro segment of the game but in reverse and with more obstacles/objectives.

At the end of this trial will begin the ending cut scene where you gain your freedom.
Becoming Reborn
Once the Farewell Mansion trial has ended you become reborn and gain your freedom only for another person to replace you in the trials. (AKA your rebirth which is a separate person)

This is the ending of Outlast trials main story, once you are rebirthed all of your completions for the first three programs save except program X which you will need to complete again to rebirth a second time. You keep every prescription, cosmetic, rig upgrades/rigs, player level and currency all save upon rebirth. Once rebirthed you unlock 1/4 outfits making them available for purchase.

And that is the ending for Outlast Trials at the current moment!
(New) Tips to Solo / In General
A general strategy that helped me a ton while playing solo was to be as stealthy as I could to avoid being spotted and focus more on completing the objective. Although it can feel super slow crouching by enemies or in general because enemies sometimes hover around the objective which can be annoying. Here are a few things I did that helped me in my play through!

1. Use the Noise indicator in the settings to help stay away from unnecessary chases and to know when enemies hear you (when the indicator is red)

(Indicator an enemy hears you)

2. Focus on upgrading prescriptions first until you unlock amps.

If you didn't focus on leveling these up first it is fine, you can get vouchers for each time you level up and you always get XP for completing any trial. So you can repeatedly beat a trial to gain XP if needed (Although it doesn't give you as much XP as the first completion)

3. Use the Slippers Amp it allows you to completely forget about walking through glass or anything on the floor that makes noise and is the first one you unlock.

Amps can be purchased from Dorris with vouchers and are unlocked through leveling.

4. The best Rig to use solo is the Healing Rig. I used it my entire play through and still mostly use it. I only started leveling it up after I already got all the prescriptions and amps I wanted.(I had Healing level 3 until after my first rebirth)

5. When an enemy is blocking your objective, get them to chase you and lead them far away from your objective while giving yourself a path to get back. Once you gain enough distance from them you can start crouching/walking to lose them and then when far enough you can run back to the objective to complete it or get good progress in. Some enemies AI does tend to make them go back to an area they were in if you lead them out so be quick.

6. When a door is trapped and you can't disarm it from the side you are on, opening the door slowly will not trigger the trap. Allowing you to disable it. When you disable the trap it will make a loud noise so be careful!

7. Always carry an Adrenaline either the entire trial or have one for the end. An adrenaline helps a lot endgame (When the objective changes to "Exit the Trial") You can use an adrenaline to have infinite stamina and more speed for a limited time, allowing you to run past all the enemies that spawn when you need to exit the trial. This allows you to get to the exit and start the 10 second countdown to leave. Sometimes you may need to run around and juke and enemy if they catch up or hide if available.

8. Purchase the Expanded Inventory upgrade in Tier 2 of Prescriptions. Having 4 slots if very useful.

9. Try to find the secret room in trials if you can! I'm unsure if it spawns 100% of the time or not but if you find it and press the to buttons required to open it, you can get permanent increases to health, stamina and battery life with the items in the chests for that trial. These are really helpful especially for trials where enemies deal more damage! Although it does feel rare so make sure to open it every time you find it.

Knowing the general layouts of maps is also a great help but you only gain that through playtime!

Might want to add this tip since every player I've met so far didn't know: You can sprint while pushing the snitch. Just be mindful that it exhausts you so if a baddie starts moving up on you, you won't be able to flee easily.
