Adding custom thumbnails
WARNING, Adding thumbnails must be done BEFORE you upload the item.

STEP 1
Once you have your thumbnail, Open the kerbal space program files through this sequence.
Right click here
click propertys- installed files and then browse.

STEP 2
Open the file named 'thumbs'

STEP 3
Paste the thumbnail into the folder.
STEP 4
Find the image file for the craft, and copy the exact name of that file.
STEP 5
find and rename the thumbnail the exact thing the image file was named, then delete the original image file.
STEP 6
Right click the remaining thumbnail, click properties, and then tick the box that says 'read only'

Now when you upload your craft it will have a custom thumbnail.
How to upload a workshop item
First of all, find the craft you want to upload. then click this button
Pick what type the craft is, if you want it to be visible to other users, and if it has robotics and thus requires the breaking ground DLC.then click OK.
How to find your workshop items.
To access your items from your profile,

1: Scroll down until you see kerbal space program, then click ' my items' underneath it.
2: click on the item you wish to modify, the customizing keys will be to the middle right of the screen.
Proper descriptions.
A proper kerbal space program item description should include the following

1 A full list of all the special controls, including
every control set to the number keys.
any special effects set to the normal control keys.

2 What the craft is designed for.

3 Any special conditions for flight and use, such as any buttons to press before flight, and what heights to fly at.

4 A full list of mods and DLCs required, and if necessary, how to acquire them.

To edit descriptions, access then from the item page, or you can give it a description before the item is uploaded through this box.

(Pro tip: use the arrow keys to navigate this box, scrolling does not always work)
Images
Images are a key aspect of quality content.

A good amount of images for an item is 5-12. I find it best to fly the craft on a mission it is designed for and take screenshots using F12 at every key mark. (stage separation, entering the atmosphere, landing, Etc.)

you can also spruce up your images using a paint app.

ADDING IMAGES TO YOUR ITEM

To add images to your item. first, click the view button in the upper left corner of the Steam page.

then click 'screenshot's, followed by 'show on disk'

copy and paste the screenshots you want to use into your pictures file (or another place you can easily access)

(it is also possible to find the images directly in the Steam screenshots file, but this may be hard to find on some computers)

when you go to add images to your item, just go to the place you pasted them into.
VIDEOS
Videos are the fanciest of item accessories, they show what your vehicle is capable of as well as showing your quality.......if done correctly.

A good video will show your craft from a variety of fancy angles, and perhaps a walkthrough of how to use it.

videos are often time-consuming to make and edit, you can find many good tutorials on youtube.

I personally do not take the time to make videos, although if you have a really great craft, they are worth it for top-of-the-workshop items.
Maintaining an existing post
It is quite easy to add these aspects to an existing post, and they will most likely affect the success of the post on the workshop.

A staple of a good post is responding to questions in the chat below the item, you can help your fellow users in improving and troubleshooting vehicles.

PRO tip: liking and favoriting your own item actually does help its performance, if only slightly. but it can also help your item appear farther up on the list by just having a like, opening your item to more users.

Good job to Starship for making its first flight! godspeed and good will!

Ending
By following these steps you can outshine the rest of the workshop with your high-quality items.

many of my items trend on the popular page for multiple days, probably because of these improvements.

(DISCLAIMER: I do not always follow my own advice, so any of my craft you come across may not have all aspects mentioned here.)

Right, so what about custom Thumbnails? If that were to be looked over, I'd love it.
