ZiL-135

Description
Who needs suspension when you can have a rigid framed 8X8 truck powered by dual gasoline engines?

This is basically the entire summary of the the ZiL-135, a heavy transport truck hailing from the height of the Cold War.

Produced between 1959 and 1963 by ZiL (Public Joint-Stock Company – Likhachov Plant), and between 1963 and possibly 1994 by BAZ (Bryansk Automobile Plant), the ZiL-135 was designed as a heavy transport truck to carry the FROG-7 missile.

The ZiL 135, as alluded to in the opening line of the description, has absolutely zero suspension. Despite this seemingly flawed design, the -135 has impressive off-road capability, due to its long wheelbase, tandem steering on the forwardmost and rearmost axles, and full 8 wheel drive.

the ZiL-135 was powered by a pair of ZiL-375YA V8 Gasoline engines, coupled to tandem 6 speed automatic or tandem 5 speed manual transmissions. Each engine drove the four wheels on its respective side.
