How does prime drops work?

CS:GO Weekly Drop system explained

Anyone who has played CS:GO has probably experienced more than a handful of times when they've been given an item at the end of a match — be it a case, graffiti, or weapon skin.

HOW DOES THE WEEKLY DROP SYSTEM WORK IN CS:GO?
Once a week after leveling up your Profile Rank, you get rewarded with a random item — either a weapon skin from the current pool or graffiti. You always get your drops after you finish a match, regardless of the game mode. To level up your Profile Rank, you'll need to collect 5,000XP.

The drop reset happens mid-week; Tuesday for NA players and Wednesday for EU players. If a drop reset is going to happen in 20 minutes, and you're just a few XP short of the next level, why not wait until the next game to pick up your weekly item right away?

WHAT ITEMS CAN YOU ACTUALLY GET FOR LEVELING UP IN CS:GO?
As we mentioned above, the only items you can get for leveling up Profile Rank are weapon skins and graffiti sprays.

SKINS
The skins we can get in the weekly drop depend on their pool set by Valve. The active pool of CS:GO skin collections includes:

The 2018 Inferno Collection
The 2018 Nuke Collection
The Dust 2 Collection
The Train Collection
The Safehouse Collection
The Lake Collection
The Italy Collection
The Bank Collection
These are the only collections from which you can receive skins as your weekly drop.

As for skins from other collections like Cobblestone, Cache, or Overpass, buying them on the marketplace or opening a souvenir case is the only way to get them. That said, there is no chance to drop famous and super-expensive skins like AWP | Dragon Lore or M4A1-S | Icarus Fell for your weekly drop. The most expensive CS:GO weapon skin you can get as a weekly drop is worth about $215, and it’s an SG 553 | Intergale (Factory New) from the 2018 Inferno Collection.

GRAFFITI SPRAYS
You'd rather not drop graffiti. They are the least valuable of all items you can get and serve as a sort of “filler” in the CS:GO drop system. The worth of the vast majority of them does not even exceed a dollar. Currently, the most valuable graffiti is Recoil AWP, worth about $10.

CASES
Cases fall out randomly at the end of the match and cannot be a reward for reaching a higher Profile Rank level. You are limited to drop three cases per week. What cases you get depends on whether you are a Prime or non-Prime player.

PRIME CASE DROPS
The current Prime case drop pool includes:

Snakebite Case ($1.54)
Fracture Case ($0.35)
Prisma 2 Case ($0.06)
Danger Zone Case ($0.07)
Clutch Case ($0.24)
NON-PRIME CASE DROPS
The current non-Prime case drop pool includes:

CS20 Case ($0.09)
Horizon Case ($0.08)
Spectrum 2 Case ($0.21)
Gamma 2 Case ($0.31)
Chroma 3 Case ($0.10)
Revolver Case ($0.07)
To clarify — You can get a drop from the non-Prime case drop pool as a Prime player, but it hardly ever happens.
