How To Craft Stuff...
By Bobbikus
So with all the crafting guides what say how to make specific items, that dont really expand on the details of how to build say, a house... Im writing this guide for people to quickly see how to build different types of structures, what raw material will be needed, what to craft those into material into those used to build the components of the house, or storage box or traps etc...

Whats in this guide?
This guide will help you to build a house, or a storage box, or chest. Or just end up with this really...

Hopefully I can add each item one at a time until the basics are listed with step by step instructions on how to build stuff. SInce completing the wooden house parts I have now added a list of ammo crafting for those who like loud and proud rifles or shotties, thats fine, just stay away from me please...

This is the list of Items I have currently done myself and from information found in various other guides...

Storage Chests
Some people like to know how to build these to store items in, after a lot of work figuring it out they are then disapointed to lean it only holds four different items.

eg. It will hold 25 arrows in one slot, three piece of Raw Meat, one seed and a pick axe. Nothing else will fit unless one stack is taken out. If you carelessly place seeds in the crates, make sure you have enough to justify using up that space for it...

To build a Wooden Crate you will need the following raw materials...
2 Wood Logs and 12 Wood Sticks...

You will need to have your crafting skill at level 1 purchased...

Then follow this flow to create a crate...

2 Wood logs -> 8 Wooden Boards -> 4 Wooden Plates -> 2 Wooden Frames...

12 Wood Sticks -> 6 Wooden Supports -> 3 Wooden Cross...

Then combine the 2 Wooden Frames and 3 Wooden Cross to create the Wooden Crate...

You may not want to place the crate yet as you can craft a bigger version that holds 6 items instead of only 4.

To do this you need the Wooden Crate you have just crafted, you need to unlock the Level 2 of Crafting Skill and craft 3 more Wooden Cross.

The Wooden Crate you have just made should still be in your inventory...

12 Wood Sticks -> 6 Wooden Supports -> 3 Wooden Cross...

Craft the Wooden Crate and the 3 Wooden Crosses to craft the bigger Wooden Chest. Which my friends have told me they cannot open it, only you can open the ones you have made. So keep all the meds/ammo/food/tools you know they will just use safe! or just hoard stuff for yourself, its all good.
Wooden Houses Foundations
In Unturned, there are a few different types of material to build buildings with, Wood and Stone are the main two used for buildings. This part of the guide is based on the Wood materials first since trees are much more common place than boulders...

Its not the same way to build a house as it is a chest, you dont craft a full house, rather parts of it. So you start with the foundations of the buildings. The floor means the size of the house will be limited to this area, the walls will be errected at the edges of the foundations to create a clean looking house, and once the walls are in place the roof can be positioned to fill the space...

To Build the Wooden Foundations you will need to start with 3 Wood Logs

3 Wood Logs -> 12 Wooden Boards -> 6 Wooden Plates -> 3 Wooden Frames -> 1 Wooden Foundation

Then once you have crafted this, as usual, it will go into your inventory, you must then equip it, and it will highlight the ground to show where it will be placed.

Remember this is the floor of the house, so place it where you want you main room or entrance way to be...

If you was to lay down a second Wooden Foundation, they will not snap together, so you will have to manually line up the edges together to make it look like one room. Not as hard as it sounds as the pillars overlap the foundations a fair ways.

Now for the walls, complete with windows and doors.
Wooden Pillars
Once you have the foundations in place you can then start to place the Wooden Walls and Wooden Pillars to start your building.

You will not be able to place the crafted items when they highlight in red. This rule applies to all crafted items that are placed with the game world space.

First off start with the pilars to the corner edges to the walls you have plans for. This will allow the game to snap the Wooden Walls and Wooden Pillars into place and will look sweet to boot.

To create a Wooden Pillar you will need 1 Wood Log and 4 Wood Sticks. Each Wooden Pillar requires 1 Wooden Board and 2 Wooden Supports to craft.

1 Wood Log -> 4 Wooden Boards

4 Wood Sticks-> 2 Wooden Supports

Combine these two results 1 Wooden Boards and 2 Wooden Supports to make 1 Wooden Pillar. You will need 4 Wooden Pillars, 1 for each corner of the Wooden Foundation.

As a final note on pillars, your going to need one pillar for every section of a wall you will need to make, so you might wanna get this one commited to memory if you can, if not my guides gonna be here...

Now for the walls themselves...
Wooden Walls, Doors, Windows, and Garage Doorway
So now you got you floors and hopefully the corner pillars in place easily, zombies make it hard sometimes...

First off I will tell you how to make the Wooden Wall. By creating and combining 2 Wooden Frames and a Wooden Pillar

2 Wood Logs -> 8 Wooden Boards -> 4 Wooden Plates -> 2 Wooden Frames...

See the Pillars section for the Wood Pillar flow...

Once you have the frames and a pillar combine them to make a Wood Wall.

Heres how to make the Wooden Doorway. We need a basic Wooden Wall just like above, as well as a Wooden Support, heres how to make the supports for easy job of it.

2 Wood Sticks -> 1 Wooden Support

Then combine the Wooden Wall with the Wooden Support to create the Wooden Doorway.

Then simply place into the edge you want the doorway to be. Or hold onto it because to make a Wooden Window you need the Wooden Doorway

Then a wall with a window requires the wall with a door. As well as another Wooden Support.

2 Wood Sticks -> 1 Wooden Support

Again simply combine the Wooden Doorway with the Wooden Support to make the Wooden Window

And with a window crafted these can be used to create a Wooden Garage doorway. A massive door which allows you to store vehicles inside safely.

2 Wood Sticks -> 1 Wooden Support

Again just add another support to the window you just crafted...

Wooden House Accessories, Beds, Torches
Now you have a Wooden Doorway, but no door, or a Wooden Garage Port with no Garage Door. Now its simple to create the Wooden Door, just create a Wooden Frame and combine it with a Bolts

1 Wood Log -> 4 Wooden Boards -> 2 Wooden Plates -> 1 Wooden Frame

Bolts can be found in the world or be crafted. Information can be found further down on crafting Bolts.

Similarly to the Wooden Doorway, Wooden WIndow, Wooden Garage Port order of creation its the same for the doors themselves. Craft a Wooden Door and combine it with another Bolts and it will change into a Wooden Shutter which is used in the Wooden Windows you have previously built.

The next step would be to have crafted 2 Wooden Shutters and combine those with Bolts to create a Wooden Gate Which should fit nicely into the Wooden Garage Port you have built earlier.

Near the campfire you will need to click the fire icon next to the craft icon. This will allow you to craft using the fire, turning the Scrap Metal into 2 Bolts.

You will however need a campfire to craft Scrap Metal into Bolts.

To craft a Campfire simply get 4 Sticks and 4 Stones, combine them to craft a Campfire.

As you know Sticks come from trees, but you may not know that you can mine the boulders in the map for Rocks which can in turn be crafted into Stones. To mine you will need to find a Pickaxe.

To find boulders look for the hill sides that dont have grass, and are gray like the boulders, you will find some on the bigger patches of gray hill sides...

(((gray hilsides pic and location)))))

At this moment you cannot craft a Pickaxe, so you will have to depend on luck and keep your eyes open for one. I have found a few at O'Leary Military Base and the Port of Alberton. Both of these areas are at the North West corner of the map.

Another handy house accessory is the torchs, or Brazier officially. They are very simple to craft, dont need electricity to run and last an infinite amount of time, plus they are brighter than the Worklight that need a Generator to use...

To craft a Brazier simply combine 2 Sticks and 2 Bolts, simples.

The Campfire has a few other uses, mostly needed for crafting Bolts and for the cooking of meats from animals. So its better to craft the Campfire as early as you have choisen you building location. It costs nothing to ignite the fire, and will stay on until you extinguish it. I believe it attracts zombies attention though, so turn it off if you dont need it to be safe. As a fianl note, it has not set fire to my wooden fort that im making.

The beds that I have in my little house is quite easily found around O'Leary Military Base as thats where two of the three Cots came from that are in that room. They can be crafted if you cannot find any, however. 5 Scrap Metal and 8 Cloth. A tall order if you cant find one, but the option is there.

The Colth can be found by crafting it from upper and lower clothes. Some tops will craft into 1 or 2 pieces of Cloth and the trousers, or pants (damb Americanisms, lol) will craft into 1 or 2 pieces of Cloth also.

The Scrap Metal can easily be crafted by crafting 2 Stones into 1 Scrap Metal at a Campfire, but then you will need a Pickaxe to mine the Stone. I have found way more Cots than Pickaxes, but thats just the way its happened to me.
Starting on a Second Floor?
Now you have the walls and windows for you little, or big, fort, its time to get a roof over your head, or a second floor!

You will then start with crafting a Wooden Platform, its easily created using 3 Wooden Plates and 1 Wooden Cross

4 Wood Sticks -> 2 Wooden Supports -> 1 Wooden Cross

2 Wood Logs -> 8 Wooden Boards -> 4 Wooden Plates

A platform acts as a roof for a single storey building, and a floor for the second level of the building, as long as it has the 4 Wooden Pillars to support it below.

pic of roof

To place the Wooden Platform you, weirdly, have to look at the foundations of the building.

Its possible to have a ladder place in the correct spot to allow you to build a second floor, and have a ladder from your first floor to reach the second, or you could build a ramp up. Zombies can climb the ladder though, so beware...

To craft a Wood Ladder you will need 9 Wood Sticks and 1 Duct Tape. Simply combine them and you will have easy access to the rooftop. A ladder doesnt atcully snap into place, so you can place them everywhere, so place it so your happy with how it looks...

Look out keep on the roof? No problem. you can build short walls if you craft Wood Posts. Which is easy to do as a Wood Wall will craft into 2 Wood Ramparts and a Wood Pillar will craft into 2 Wood Posts and this will allow you to place a Wood Rampart in the space between the Wood Posts and snaps to place.

Maybe craft a chest for some binoculars, a rifle and ammo up there? Keep the area free of Zombies and Bandits alike.
Farming, Method and Greed!
Farming in Unturned is easier than Project Zomboid, or Minecraft. But can be juggled to feed yourself, and frineds, and still make a decent amount of Fresh Food to keep your hunger down, its all about the need to eat right now or can it wait a few minutes more?

Let me explain. Your in a game, your hunger has reached 25% all you have is Moldy Tomato. You start to think that theres no more food, so it looks like you need to eat it.

You do not need to eat the moldy foods just for the few % it will give you, at a cost of infection. Instead find a place you can easily find, craft the Moldy Tomato into 1 Tomato Seed, which can be planted anywhere that grass is present.

Once its available to harvest you will get 2 Tomatoes back! This is where I question myself, "Do i need to eat right now?" If im at 75%, yes i do, so would only eat 1 Fresh Tomato to buy me time. Then the other to craft into seeds.

If im around 30% then no I dont need to eat as I have some time to spare. I would then craft the 2 Fresh Tomatoes into 4 Seeds, which will result in around 8 Fresh Tomatoes. Then the cycle repeats, "Do I really need to eat right now?" if yes, then have one or two, if no then plant all the seeds you can and you will end up with a massive amount of Fresh Tomato and will not starve again for a long, LONG time!

Heres my little farm I made from 1 Moldy Carrot, 2 Moldy Tomatoes, 1 Moldy Potato, 1 Moldy Corn and 2 Moldy Cabbage.

This will now result in:
8 - Fresh Carrot, 12 - Fresh Tomatoes, 8 - Fresh Potato, 6 - Fresh Corn, 10 - Fresh Cabbage

Which in turn if im not hungry right now will make
16 - Carrot Seeds, 24 - Tomatoes Seeds, 16 - Potato Seeds, 12 - Corn Seeds, 20 - Cabbage Seeds

So you can see how if you hold back at the start, you can multiply your food, way beyond what you will ever need!

Remember, do you really need to eat right now?, plant some seeds before you eat, eat only what you need, store surplus food in chests for later.
Survivability, Items you NEED!
In this section, im going to list a few items that will make you life a lot easier to live by. A few of them can be crafted and a few cant, these I will list off where I often find them.

1st, probably most important in my opinion, is the Canteen.
Which allows you to get a drink whenever you want, as long as there is water nearby. You can refil it again and again to make sure you dont die of dehydration. Which will happen when it hits 100%. There are two ways to get a hold of a Canteen, find one or craft one...

Finding one can be tricky as they are classed to me as a rare loot item. Meaning its not around a lot, but when it is, theres a few of them, weirdly. First one I found was at O'Leary Military Base, also seen at the docks of the town called Alderton and Belfast Airport.

To craft one, its not too hard. From scratch you need a Hammer and 2 Scrap Metal, which will make a Can. Unfortunatly, to my knowledge, you cannot craft a Hammer, but I seem to come across them a whole lot, not very good weapons though...

One you have the can crafted, or found (usually in towns food shops) if your lucky. You will also need a Bottled Water. This wont work with a Moldy Bottled Water as its gonna make you infection rise if you drink it. Its possible to find a rare clean Bottled Water, so keep your eye out for them.

Moldy Bottled Water should be grabbed if you find it, cause combining it with a Purification Tablets will make it a clean Bottled Water. These pills arnt hard to find, I know that Alberton has a pharmacy near the dock that always has random meds and supplies there, also check out the pharmacies in other towns too, or any red medical tents you find, two at Belfast Airport and two near the Confederation Bridge if those locations are more convienient. Im sure that you will find these easly enough.

Once you have a Bottled Water and a Can. Just combine those two to craft a Canteen. Feel free to drink it right away as the Canteen will stay with you, its just empty, go to the coast line where there is water and use it on the water and will refil to use again. Its not gonna go from 75% to 0% right away, so keep fillig it and chugging till you hit 0%, fill it up and be on your way...

The next item would be a Sledgehammer.
By far I think is the best melee weapon in the game, one hit kills every time, as long you you hit the head anyways, two hits if not. Sadly it cannot be crafted so if you find one, swap it for that Pocket Knife you probably found. I keep finidng them at Alberton, my go to place for supplies, the dock, (surprise surprise) is where to go. But can be found in other towns and docks too, I have just found one at the Mechanies shop in Burywood

Third is what I think of the best ranged weapon in the game the Longbow.
But thats me, but I love bows! Why? well because of three main reasons. 1, Its a ranged silent weapon and 2, It has unlimited ammo (kind of), and 3, you can craft it! To craft a Longbow you will need 3 Wooden Support and 2 Ropes. Combine those to get the Longbow, yay...

Though if you find the uncraftable Compound Bow or Cross Bow, swap to them as damage and accuracy wise, they are both better. I kill more and miss less with these, if you find one use it,but they are like super duper rare! I literally just found a Crossbow at Fernwood Farm, which came with a 6X scope too!

Its not hard to craft the Arrows needed for these weapons too, just get 1 Stick and 1 Nails, combine them and boom 3 Arrows. Now count in that you can find Sticks as easy as chopping down a tree, or using a Handsaw on Board to get 4 Sticks, and Nails can be made by crafting a piece of Scrap Metal to make 2 Nails. Like I said easy...

Best thing is that you can hold up to 25 Arrows in a single stack, so unlike the other weapons, that use bullets/clips so you dont have three clips of ammo taking up three slots of your limited inventory space. We have enough Arrows to clear the path to anything in a town, without alerting every other zombie to our presence.

If you have a big enough bag, try to keep a Pickaxe and either an Axe or Fireaxe. For any Wood or Stone that you may need. Remember, Arrows (1 Stick, 1 Nails) and Campfires(2 Sticks, 2 Stones) are easy to sort if you carry both tools.

Finally, grab any type of clothing to make Bandages.
It doesnt matter how good you get, or how much of a hotshot you think you are, your gonna get bit at one point or another, so be prepared, grab any clothing you find and craft them into Cloth as crafting two pieces will make one Rag, only does 5% Health each, but theres enough clothing items around for any number of healing needed.

Even better if you have 2 Rags, you can combine them to make 1 Bandage. Which will heal the 10% that 2 Rags would have done seperatly. Again if you have 2 Bandages you can make 1 Dressing. Which will heal the 20% that 2 Bandages would have done. So you ideally should always upgrade them if you get chance to.
Ammo List. Weapon Accessories.
So If your not into my style of killing zeds, arrows to the head, well your gonna have a hard time finding that type of ammo you need, so heres my way of getting those bullets into your hands.

Yes, its possible to craft these types of ammo. Arrow, Buckshot and Slug,

as previously covered to craft arrows simply combine a Stick with Nails.

to craft Slugs you will need Shells and 2 Bolts...

and Buckshot would be Shells with 2 Nails...

But they both depend on your finding Shells before actual ammo can be crafted. Creating either type will net you 6 rounds for use in your shotguns.

It seems to craft a new clip for a gun, say your using the Mosen that uses the Bonjour Clip, you will need to have a Bonjour clip free, preferably empty. You can use the clip in your gun, and once its depleted you drop it on the floor when you reload, if you have another clip anyways.

If not then press and hold "T" and click on the ammo type and will remove it from the gun. If you have space it will store in your inventory, if not, then it will be on the floor where you was standing.

Then to refil the Bonjour Clip you will need Civilian Bullets. Combine those two items and you will recieve one full Bonjour Clip. Same applies for other clip types too, but some require 2 or 3 Civilian Bullets or 1 to 4 Military Bullets.

From what I can craft in game and what matches this information elsewhere, this is what you need to craft ammo for diffrent types, it results in a full clip each time...

Take one of the Clip Type that you want to create, any bullets curently in the clip will be lost, so use em. Combine it with the requires amount of the Ammo Type, for a full clip Result.

Clip Type + Ammo Type = Result (Rounds per full clip)
1 Lapua Magazine + 1 Military Bullets = 1 Lapua Magazine (8 Rounds)
1 PDW Magazine + 2 Military Bullets = 1 PDW Magazine (50 Rounds)
1 NATO Drum + 4 Military Bullets = 1 NATO Drum (100 Rounds)
1 NATO Magazine + 2 Military Bullets = 1 NATO Magazine (30 Rounds)
1 NATO Tracer Magazine + 2 Tracer Bullets = 1 NATO Tracer Magazine (20 Rounds)
1 Lapua Tracer Magazine + 1 Tracer Bullets = Lapua Tracer Magazine (6 Rounds)
1 Swift Magazine + 1 Civilian Bullets = Swift Magazine (7 Rounds)
1 Winchester Clip + 1 Civilian Bullets = 1 Winchester Clip (6 Rounds)
1 Savage Magazine + 2 Civilian Bullets = 1 Savage Magazine (30 Rounds)
1 Savage Drum + 3 Civilian Bullets = 1 Savage Drum (75 Rounds)
1 Bonjour Clip + 1 Civilian Bullets = 1 Bonjour Clip (5 Rounds)
1 Lebel Magazine + 1 Civilian Bullets = 1 Lebel Magazine (13 Rounds)
1 Xtrmin Magazine + 1 Civilian Bullets = 1 Xtrmin Magazine (10 Rounds)
1 Yuri Magazine + 2 Civilain Bullets = 1 Yuri Magazine (40 Rounds)

If I have missed any please let me know and will update if so, these are the ones I have found in the game that I remember.

These weapon attachments can be crafted without upgrading the Crafting skill.

1 Binoculars + 2 Duct Tape = 1 Zoomomatic
This is a scope for weapons, but this does not have an aiming crosshair, making it difficult to snipe long distances, but makes it easy to survey areas.

1 Handlamp + 2 Duct Tape = 1 Tactical Light
This is to have a torch attached to the barrel of your weapon, to illuminate the darker areas, or the night. You can toggle the Tactical Light on and off with the "F" key. It should be noted that you can craft a Handlamp when combining 2 Scrap Metal and 1 Batteries since they may prove hard to find.

2 Canned Cola + 2 Can w/ Campfire as a tool = 1 Muffler
The Muffler is as you can guess from its name, a type of silencer for your weapon, its not as effective at silencing your weapon as the Suppressor is, but is a lot easier to make a Muffler than to find a Suppressor.

you want to cook the meat? light up a campfire and place the raw meat into a craftslot, make sure that the cog and wrench icon is changed to a campfire icon, this wiull result in a cooked meat. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=298033592&insideModal=1 the fire icon is just above the craft button.

Jesus Christ i was only looking for a cooking guide, because i put raw venison and a campfire together in the crafting layout and i got nothing... that's obvious and i want to try moar things but if someone wants to be nice and tell me how to do it before i throw my dinner into a volcano atempting to cook it. *tries grilling a venison by putting it on the hood of a flaming car, and it explodes*

Via Lonewolf: http://steamcommunity.com/app/304930/guides/#scrollTop=0 . His guide is very plain and doesnt show pics or how to really but If you follow your guide first then use the Lonewolf guide after people can figure it out. If you want the full out thorough guide just include his in yours and mabe make screenshots or w/e. Your call just trying to put the whole guide in yours. Two friends of mine who had no idea what to do with building boxes ect I sent em to your guide. Peace Bob.
