Finnish M28 (prop)

Description
A high poly model of the Finnish M28 rifle (Finnish version of the Russian Mosin rifle)

Rifle M/28 - the last Finnish rifle, which used the old Russian sight.
The M / 28 rifle also had an old Russian sight with a range of up to 3200 arshins (steps), but the Finns redid the markings on the basis of the sight to metric.

Rifle length 119 cm, barrel length 68.5 cm and weight 4.3 kg. The rear sight is standard from the sample of 1891 - a “rat trap”, but a scale in meters has been added to the rangefinder in arshins on the right side. The front sight is Finnish and its front sight is covered with ears, from which comes the slang name "Spitz" - Pystykorva (also literally means - ears up).

The rifle was designed in this form in 1927 and manufactured (assembled from old parts and a new barrel) about 30,000 pieces in 1928-1933. Manufacturer - supplier of weapons for the security corps workshop SAKO (abbreviation).

M / 28 is easily distinguished from M / 27 by the hallmark of the security corps and various advantages, for example, attaching a belt to the stock.

The M-28 rifle is a kind of stage in the development of rifles based on the S. I. Mosin system, produced in Finland. It should be understood that these modifications were ordered and produced not in the interests of the Finnish army, but exclusively for arming the volunteer territorial defense units "Shutskor". If you look at the general chronology of the development of this line of Mosin rifles, then the first will be the M-27 Lotta Pärv (after the name of the women's volunteer organization, which actually ordered the production of these rifles and paid for the order), the second - M / 28, M / 28-30 and M/39.

It should be said that all modifications of the Finnish three-rulers for Shutskor used the receivers of tsarist Russia, but the first order (Lotta Pärv) was distinguished by the barrels. These were barrels ordered in Switzerland, chambered for 7.62 (.308) and cartridge 7.62x53R. The cartridge differed from the Soviet 7.62x54R not in the length of the sleeve (they were completely identical. It’s just that in the USSR the length of 53.72 mm was rounded up, and in Finland only to the whole value). The differences were in the real diameter of the bullet - 7.82-7.85 (.308) for the Finnish cartridge, and 7.92 for the Soviet (.312). The use of Finnish cartridges in Soviet weapons led to a decrease in accuracy, and the use of a Soviet cartridge in a Finnish rifle led to excess pressure in the barrel.

This rifle was used by the Finnish sniper - Simo Häyhä - not a single sniper kill of which was ever confirmed, but his image was actively used by Finnish propaganda for many years. This rifle has become an integral part of this image.

Thank you! I know that it's better to have not a simple prop, but a working swep, but unfortunately at the moment I don't have the necessary knowledge in modeling. Maybe later I will learn how to do it.

Your props have great potential, try to make them sweps!
