By v1kn8t
I will share my ideas about the state of Tabs map creation. There is a lot of bugs and inaccuracies, and I will address them.

Bugs and Inaccuracies
Tabs has an amazing, vast map creator at the moment. However, there are a lot of problems that came with this map creator. This guide is made for the developers of tabs, but since they were likely not see this, it's also made to share some ideas that would good for the map creator (in my opinion.) First off, I'll list the bugs and inaccuracies that have been in the map creator.

- Placing down objects. I have never used objects for tower/building construction in my recent maps, because it's so damn difficult to creatively place them. There's not a true rotation system for objects, but I did find a bug with a visual effect that made objects rotate sideways or upside down. Also, the text that says "hierarchy depth exceeded" is extremely annoying if you're trying to build a bridge out of small objects. I believe the limit for amount of objects placed on top of each other is 4 or 5. Developers, please make a proper rotation system, or something that makes it easier to place down objects how you want to.

-The many bugged objects. Have you ever made an ancient city map? Well I have. It was a disaster, because none of the path finding worked for the ancient buildings. Also, there are so many bugged hit boxes for objects, it has to be at least 20. The worst part is, you can't fix it. If you try to upscale an object, it's destined to have faulty hit boxes.
Future Ideas
I've always felt limited with the current map creator, just because of all the annoying stuff implemented. The next topic I want to talk about is the future ideas that would make the map creator so much more fun.

-Extended land height. The current height for land is very mediocre. Sure, you can still make huge castle with many rooms with land, but it's still limiting. If I wanted to extend the height of my castle, for example, I can only use objects for non-enter able and non-climbable structure. Objects are very limited, but I've already gone into that topic. I've always wanted to build a sky-high castle that makes falling down very punishable and cool for rag dolling, if you get what I mean. Or, I want to recreate Stormveil castle from Elden Ring, a huge and tall castle that looks sick. But sadly, I can't do that, because of the limiting land height.

-More objects. Back to Elden Ring, say I want to recreate just a small bit of Stormveil castle. I create the castle structure, but wait. There's not enough decorations for the castle. I could add bricks, but that would just be too many objects, and a different color than intended. More objects would be fantastic for creativity in map creating. Maybe even increase the object limit, too.

-More colors. Colors in Tabs map creating is very limited. Objects, land color, you name it; not enough color. I think there should be an option to change the color in all ranges, like one of those color boards with red, green, and blue sliders. Especially for land. Also, land coloring looks all pixelated, and not very clean. For objects, however, there could be different parts of an object you can adjust or color.

I think if the developers read all of this, (which is unlikely) Tabs's map creator would be better in all aspects. I hope you Tabs veterans can relate to frustrations and ideas, thanks and goodbye.

Hey, nice guide here!
Not sure if you know this, but one thing I'd like to stipulate is that the map creator was not made by Landfall, but by a group of freelance programmers. This means that Landfall can't change the code by themselves, and in addition, the TABS code has gotten so complicated that Landfall can't unravel it anymore. Plus, TABS is finished by far, but I guess you know this already.
