play old cs:go versions and its associated dedicated server for it.

Playing an old csgo version is just downloading old depots mixing up files and starting csgo.exe, I'll show you how to play old cs:go versions and its associated dedicated server for it.

game

- to begin go to csgo steamDB page [steamdb.info], you must login to see all the manifests.

depot 731 [steamdb.info]: common game files
depot 732 [steamdb.info]: windows bins

- for the 731 depot find a game version that you want for me i chose the 1 July 2015 – 00:00:50 UTC build with a manifest id of 4730361390205743786
- and now look for the same date&time on the 732 depot, my matching one is 1 July 2015 – 00:00:50 UTC build with a manifest id of 4766857270994966096

- folowing this pattern:

download_depot <app_id> <depot_id> <manifest_id>

- fill it for the two depots with the ids you got above mine looks like this:

download_depot 730 731 4730361390205743786
download_depot 730 732 4766857270994966096

- open the steam console by pressing "windows + r" and pasting "steam://open/console" in the input bar, press ok


- copy the first command in, and press enter
- wait for the download to finish (it doesn't show as a normal download in the download tab, look the image bellow it show "Depot download complete" when it's done)
- same step for the second one (copy paste wait)


- when both downloads are done, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common, rename your current csgo installation to "Counter-Strike Global Offensive_og" and create a new folder with the name "Counter-Strike Global Offensive"


- open a new explorer window and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_730 you should find both depot_731 and depot_732 inside. Like this:


- open depot_731 and copy all it's content to "Counter-Strike Global Offensive"
- open depot_732 and copy all it's content to "Counter-Strike Global Offensive"
- you should end up with a working game copy:


- last step open csgo.exe and voila the game should start, you can now play with bots or join servers that match your version.

server

- same as we did for the game, we need the server bins.

depot 740 [steamdb.info]: server bins

- find a server version with the same date on the 740 depot, my matching one is 1 July 2015 – 00:00:17 UTC build with a manifest id of 1912344178332557933 (if there is mutiple entries with the same dates look for the closest hours/minutes)

- folowing this pattern:

download_depot <app_id> <depot_id> <manifest_id>

- fill it with the id you got above

download_depot 740 740 1912344178332557933 

- open the steam console by pressing "windows + r" and pasting "steam://open/console" in the input bar, press ok


- copy the first command in, and press enter
- wait for the download to finish (it doesn't show as a normal download in the download tab, look the image bellow it show "Depot download complete" when it's done)
- same step for the second one (copy paste wait)


- wherever you want create a folder that will contain you server file i'll go with c:\csgo_server
- open a new explorer window and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_740 you should found depot_740. Like this:


- copy the content of depot_740 inside your server folder (csgo_server for me)
- go back to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_740 that we downloaded on the previous section and copy all files of depot_731 inside your server folder (csgo_server for me)
- you should end up with working server that match you game version:


- please refer to valve official csgo dedicated wiki to correctly config and start your server, we've just made the first section "Downloading the CS:GO Dedicated Server", you can now follow their steps from the second part and so on.

going back to latest csgo

- go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common, rename the "Counter-Strike Global Offensive" installation that contain the old game file to "Counter-Strike Global Offensive_old" and rename "Counter-Strike Global Offensive_og" to "Counter-Strike Global Offensive"


- you just have to swap folders name whenever you want to play old version or going back to the latest version. (don't forget that old cs start by opening csgo.exe and the latest versions only start from steam)

Hello whenever I try to join my server it just tries to rejoin the server and i cant join. Any ways to fix?

Hey, to everyone who's trying to play lan with hamachi or radmin, use zerotier instead, radmin/hamachi won't work for some reason.
Make sure to write sv_lan 1 before joining an offline server with bots.

- if steam is open and you still get this error, create .bat file that execute csgo.exe with -insecure flag. You might get a pop in the lobby that prompt you to quit the game due to an account error or something similar to bypass this press your console key and either connect to a server or start a local map.
