The Revolution Triumphant

The first divergence in the Revolution Triumphant occurred in 1658 when Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell... lives. The Golden Republic stands triumphant, and propels Great Britain onto the world stage. The Last Monarchists are expelled across the Atlantic Ocean where they can no longer foment unrest. Of course these Monarchists establish Crown Colonies and former Aristocrats rule them as petty kingdoms, but surely the Republic can afford them their petty privileges? As it turns out no! After a series of wars against the French nearly bankrupt the Republic, the velvet glove is replaced with a steel fist in an attempt to centralize administration, and streamline taxation. However the many Petty Kingdoms across the Appalachians, and the self-proclaimed Duchies of the coast, band together and, ironically, elect a certain George Washington to be the Grand Marshall of Columbia under the Articles of Defense. After the Goldcoats repeatedly thrash the Columbian Army in York the Grand Marshall marches on Philadelphia suspends the Articles of Defense and declares himself Praetor of Columbia, Caesar Of The Army Of The Continent. Thus the Praetoria of Columbia is born, and foreign rule of Columbia ends. Finally we come to our last divergence when Babeuf's Society Of Equals succeeds in the coup of 22 Floreal, ushering in the 2nd French Revolution, and shortly thereafter the many Wars Of The Coalition which ultimately end in a stalemate on the Rhine after the radical reorganization of the French Army following Napoleons death at Leipzig, ever the loyal general Napoleon had defended his country for nearly three decades, and in the process left a permanent mark on history
