Thursar Alchemy Guide

Alright fellas, i will teach you how to make good potion that keeps Thursar strong and healthy.

Basic skills you need is: Alchemy ofc, Potion Making, Advanced Potion Making.

You can learn this skills in <15 minutes if you push your skill processing water through the Alchemy Table. Just buy some kegs from the vial vendor (usualy next to alchemy table) and fill em up with a stack of water till you maxed.

Material Lore skill is only important for Base Ingredients and Adders, not for Multipliers. This means if you add Botany and push the horsefood lores, you will have access to a wide array of usefull potions in no time.
If you use the Dile from grocery vendor or pick simple Grass to push your Herbology, you are ready to craft your first premium sea dew health potion, the day you started alchemy. Be aware that you need 90 Botany first to unlock Herbology.



It is not necessary, but recommended to add Alchemy Extraction skills. Especialy if you use only one character. That would be: Milling, Herbalism, Press Operation, Herbologium Expertise

Explanation: Material Lore and Potion Volume

Material Lore / Zoology

Ingredients either have some kind of Material Lore or Zoology Lore bound to its Base Effect. The difference between 0 and 100 Material Lore is ~50% of the Base Value and the scaling inbetween is linear.
0 / 50 / 100 Material lore = ~50 / ~75 / 100 % Base Value
There is no kind of softcap at level 70 like in other professions, 100 lore for the Base Ingredient is required for full effect. 100 lore is recommended for Adders too, but their impact is only very smal.

The Potion Making skill also is a linear multiplicator for the potions effect, so 100 lore in Advanced Potion Making is required for full effect. It's necessary to unlock all 16 ingredient slots too.

Potion Volume

A normal Thursar has 10 Thirst (check Characterscreen, Stats). This means you can drink 10 Potion Units max. If you want to make a potion for one chug you make a potion with 100 ingrediets with +Volume in. All Base Ingredients in the Guide have +Volume. All additional ingredients with +Volume are marked.
For example mixing Wolfbrush (has +Volume) with Horn (has no +Volume):
Mix 99 Wolfbrush with 500 Horn yields 9 Potion Units (it always rounds down)
Mix 99 Wolfbrush with 1 Horn yields 9 Potion Units
100 Wolfbrush by themself yield 10 Potion Units
Whatever amount of Horn, it is impossible to make a Potion with it alone

Ingredients with +Volume are a little bit better than ingredients without +Volume for the potions effect. So if you have 2 ingredients of the same Multiplier Tier, choose the one with +Volume first.

If you have an ugly Oghmir friend with Beer Belly Clade Gift, he will get +10 Thirst, so 20 Thirst max. This means he can chug down a potion with 20 Potion Units. This needs 200 ingredients with +Volume.
So always give Oghmirs the worst cheapest potions you have, because its twice as good and even cheap potions are very strong for them.
If you have Potion Utilization max, you can also chug 20 Potion Units at once.

If you don't understand this chapter don't worry. The recipes take the Volume thing into account.

Direct Health Potion

If you got Advanced Potion making maxed you can use 16 ingredients. You want 1 good Base Ingredient that yields Direct Health, and then you always add 15 Multiplier Ingredient, because Multipliers multiply, and this makse potion strong, and strong potion makes Thursar strong.

So the general health potion recipe is:

If you have all the top Multiplier Ingredients, use many of em and only 68 Base Ingredient. If you only have bad Multiplier Ingredients, use less of em and more Base Ingredient.
Always put the banana in the health potion. It is extra good because it is a strong Multiplier and also an Adder.
This means that it multiplys the basevalue and also adds extra health on its own. This means banana makes Thursar extra healthy yellow. (Because of its inherent Direct Health, technically Muse Fruit could be used as a Base Ingredient too, but its pretty damn bad at that and therfor better used as a Multiplier with Adder)

Absolutly terrible potion, and i don't know why anyone would want to use a potion that only heals 7,5 health, but if you insist on starting your alchemy career in the tutorial, this is what you get i guess. So just leave the tutorial and start real game eh...
The general rule is. If you have top Multiplier Ingredients, use many of em and only 60 Base Ingredient. If you only have bad Multiplier Ingredients, use 75 Base Ingredient. In Haven you don't even have 15 Multiplier Ingredients. With this kind of low Tier Multipliers you may just use 99 Common Reedmace Shoots.
Common Reedmace Shoots is a misused Multiplier Ingredient with Adder as Base Ingredient in this case. Wolfbrush works too but is a little worse.

In general: If you only have bad Multiplier Ingredients, then use a little bit more of the Base Ingredient. This is an example for a potion without any kind of expensive or hard to gather ingredients. If you have even worse Multiplicators, aim for 73 or more Base Ingredients.
26 health may seem to be not a whole lot, but to be fair, it's kind of a free potion and in certain circumstances may still be a lifesaver.

This potion looks like you made pipi in a jar. It is not pipi, it is very good health potion. I'd say the Sea Dew Leaves Potion is pretty much the most commonly used potion in the game. Its kind of still cheap and 64 health is amazing.

If you make a whole keg you can minmax the ingredients a little bit better.
As you can see, the difference between the smal potion and the minmaxed keg is almost nothing. So don't worry too much if some of your ingredients are not in perfect relation to each other. If you throw the relations completly out of the window you usualy still end up with a potion thats <5% worse than a properly calculated one.

Because of the rarity of Salvia, it's not a everydays potion for sure.

The Heal Over Time Potion has 2 Multiplier Ingredients: one for the Healing Over Time tick strenght itself and one for the Healing Length duration. While the Multiplier Setup for Heal Over Time works similar to the Direct Heal Multipliers (see chapter Direct Health Potion), the Healing Length Multipliers all have huge inherent Adders. Lots of additional Zoology and Material Lores are needed to get the full effect of all the Healing Length Adders.

It takes ~140 seconds to regenerate 10 Thirst and be viable to drink a full new potion without additional skills. A Healing Length of 50 somehow translates into a ~160 seconds lasting Healing Over Time effect. This means if you make a potion with almost 50 Healing Length, you are able to drink the next full potion slightly before the current one runs out.
Cronite and Gamun Oil would improve the recipe, but i skipped Cronite because its only a low tier multiplier and therfor not worth the Master Alloys Lore. Gamun Oil for the same reason, high price and still low tier ingredient seems to be not worth it.

Here we have 3 different examples of recipes. All of them use the same Ingredients. Only the relations towards each other are different.

In Example 1 you can see a focus on the Healing Over Time effect of the potion. Because Healing Length Multipliers are needed too, the Multiplier setup will always be like some kind of low tier Multiplier setup. This means more Base Ingredients makes sense to max out the relations.

In Example 3 you can see a focus on the Healing Length effect of the potion. Because all the Multiplier Ingredients for Healing Length have significant Adders, the loss of Base Ingredients Value is compensated by the additional Adders. And the Adders can multiplier each other just like they would with a Base. Therfor using a low amount of Base Ingredient and lots of Multipliers with high Adders makes sense.

In Example 2 you can see kind of the middleground of 2 Ingredient Setups that both demant entirely different Multiplier:Base Realtions.
As you can see, there is a wide array of useful outcomes without even changing ingredients. It's up to user preferance what's the right mix.

Mana Regeneration Potion

The general Mana Regeneration Potion recipe is:

So we have several Multiplier Ingredients for the Mana Regeneration Value, but only one Multiplier Ingredient for the Length. So shaping the potion towards a long duration is not realy a thing as far as i can tell. So its more like a Direct Mana Potion, balanced in a way that heavy armoured mages can't outplay the regen malus of armour weight. You can still unequip the armour, drink the potion and regear, but that makes you vulnerable for that time.
Mana Regeneration Length is maxed out with ~7 Lysimachia Arvensis in a 100 Volume recipe. All Mana Regeneration Multiplier Ingredients have negative Multipliers for Mana Regeneration Length. So you want to keep the Mana Regeneration Multipliers at a low amount to not tank the length too much.

Purification Potion Instructive Example

The salty Purifier

• 8 Imbued Calamine
  
• 1 Salt Crystal
  
• 2 Salt
  
• 1 Purified Water

The ratios are not for max Purification. More than 100% Purification is not usefull so its more about minimizing the Ingredient cost or improving Hybrid Potions.

Hybrid Potions

A Hybrid Potion is a Potion, that combines 2 useful effect in one single Potion, that you can chug at once.

for example a Direct Health Potion with added Magic Reflect looks like this:
At first make a simple Magic Reflect Potion with 1 Potion Unit like in the Chapter for Magic Reflect Potions.
Then use a Direct Health Potion or Keg like in the Chapter for Direct Health Potion.
Then mix em together with the Combine Tool to create the Hybrid Potion of those 2 effects. Use the Vial as Main item and combine it with the liquid you want to mix into the Main item like in the picture.
In that case there are going to be 9 Potion Units added from the Direct Health Potion Keg.
The result for example is a Hybrid Potion with 10 Potion Units that heals a little less than a pure Direct Health Potion, but also has added Magic Reflect on top of it.
The same can be done with greater Volumes. Just mix 9 of your health potions together with 1 of your magic reflect potions in a Keg for the same result.

This works the same way, if you want to combine a Direct Health Potion with added Purification effect. This is especialy usefull, because it purifies corruption and heals you afterwards on top of it.

Everyone can mix together any kind of Hybrid Potions by himself. No skills in Alchemy or anything are required to do so.

Weight Reduction Potion

Lemme guess, you ate too much of the springbok again? No worries. Use Brown Shorekelp Oil (also known as diarrhea oil) and throw it together with different juices. This will cause max purge and bring you back in shape easy. Don't use your own toilet.

Base Ingredient:

• Brown Shorekelp Oil (Botanical Oils required)

Multiplier Ingredient:

• Green Jambura Juice (+Volume)
  
• Malus Juice (+Volume)
  
• Pirum Juice (+Volume)
  
• Red Jambura Juice (+Volume)

• Karoton Juice (+Volume)

The Big Bang

• 50 Brown Shorekelp Oil

If you manage to get all 6 different juices you can mix it up for max explosive diarrhea. This stuff is no joke, so drink with caution or you will shrink down to negative mass, implode, then server explode and crash.
No for real, pretty much everything you throw together will work, as long as you keep about half of it Brown Shorekelp Oil.

The Lil Assblaster

• 40 Brown Shorekelp Oil
  
• 29 Malus Juice
  
• 29 Red Jambura Juice
  
• 1 Green Jambura Juice
  
• 1 Wolf Peach Juice

Maybe you don't want to make a world tour, just to take a dump. The potion outcome is a lil weaker, but it still gets the job done. The ratio can be pretty far off from what usual Multiplier Ingredients in other potion recipes would tolerate. So let's mostly use the cheapest juice.

Age Potion

Base Ingredient:

• Cleansed Drakon
  
• Cleansed Nymph Herb

put Drakon or Nymph Herb in Herbologium to get the Cleansed version.

Age Potion Instructive Examples

Rancho Mojo

• 8 Cleansed Drakon
  
• 3 anything

No Muliplierer Ingredients could be found for the Age Up effect. The correct Dilution of Cleansed Drakon alone seems to improve the effect, maxing out at 8:3 for a single use potion that increases your age by one year. What is used to dilute the potion doesn't matter, but i recommend something with Volume of course. Just using Water works.

Fountain of Youth

• 8 Cleansed Nymph Herb
  
• 3 anything

The Age Down Potion recipe is exactly the same as the Age Up Potion, just with Cleansed Nymph Herb instead of Drakon.

Growth- and Shrinkfood

This is actualy a Potion Making guide and not a cooking guide, but I'll explain this real quick.

Growthfood

• 10 Salvia Oil
  
• 45 any Juice or Water
  
• 45 any Juice or Water

Punsh 10 Salvia Oil with 2*45 of any Juice or Water. This yields Growthfood that makes you bigger. You can go beyond the limit you have in the character creator. This means, if you eat enough growth food, a Kallard Thursar can raise from 220 to 225 cm max height. 2 cm height are 1 statpoint, so if you grow you lose some statpoints.

Shrinkfood

• 10 Gamun Oil
  
• 45 any Juice or Water
  
• 45 any Juice or Water

Take care, if you put Gamun Oil in the Cooking Pod, some super dangerous liquid may emerge. Never ever even consider drinking this. It makes Thursar smaler and weak. It makes wee wee smaler too.
