How to 'back up' your game file so bugs don't make you restart.
By JackCarlisle0021
Are you stuck on a loading screen? Did Mudball Wall softlock again? Or are you just paranoid that you will lose your save? Whatever the reason, this game is buggy, and I can't beat the game without having to restart because bugs corrupt my save. So this guide will tell you how you can back up your saves.

1: Getting to your User Registry
Zoombini save data is found in your user registry data. When you do this, please follow the guide exactly unless you know what you are doing.

- It's important to note that fooling around with your registry data is usually not a good idea, and it can lead to breaking your computer. But as long as you follow the guide and don't act dumb, you'll be fine -

The first thing you'll need to do is press the Windows Key, and R

After you see the box in the picture, type in "regedit" like so:

Congratulations you are now done with step 1!
2: Creating your backup
You should now be here
Click on the arrow next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Click on the arrow next to Software
Click on the arrow next to Fablevision You should now see the Zoombinis folder.

Next, you want to open your game file. My game file is saved as Save1, yours will be called whatever you named it.

Now, we will be creating our 'save backup' what we will actually be doing is creating a file that we will be putting your binary data in. This will not show up in the game. You will have to put the old data in the game file, but we'll cover all that in a second. For now, just create a Binary value.

I named my file "backup" you can name it whatever you like, just dont make it the same name of anything above it. We don't want the game to ever call this data. This is just for us.

Next, open your game file. This should have your game name in it (again, mine is Save1). What you see should look something like this:

This looks scary, but don't worry, we're just gonna be copying this and pasting it in the backup file you made.

Make sure the data matches, and that you press okay instead of cancel.
3: Saving and Loading
To save your game, just create a new backup and copy and paste it. Again, be mindful that the data matches, binaries can copy in weird ways.

To load, do what you did, but in reverse. Take the data from the backup, copy it, paste it into your game file, and you should resume at whatever point you saved it at. (I like to save it everytime I get to Zoombiniville).

Well I hope this guide helped you. MLG Zoombini wishes you best of luck against bugs:
