spirit
spirit: when smudged they cant hunt for about 180 seconds compared to the normal 90 seconds after smudging any other ghost. The easiest way to test for a spirit is to see if your average sanity is below 50 percent. If you cant see your sanity then if it has hunted/tried to hunt then you are infact under 50 percent sanity. So to test to to smudge the room the ghost is in and wait/set a timer for 180 seconds if it tries to hunt or does hunt before the 180 seconds are up then it is not a spirit. (keep in mind it may just not hunt even while not being a spirit).
wraith
wraith:this one is fairly simple wraiths cannot step in salt so to test for them bring a motion censor and some salt set them up so if the ghost were to step in salt it would trigger the motion censor. If it walks past without stepping in salt its a wraith. Another way to test for a wraith is if you just get a sudden spike in emf when nothing to trigger emf has happened. That is the wraith teleporting onto your location.
phantom
phamtom:when it is in a manifestation taking a picture of it will cause the ghost to disappear any footsteps/singing will continue. The photo will just be labeled "ghost" even thought there is infact NO ghost (the photo be trippin ngl). Also when hunting it will disappear WAY more often then other ghosts. Something me and my friend have seen is when your LOOKING for this trait and you almost die because you cant even see the ghost its most likely a phantom.
poltergeist
poltergeist:so you cant really TEST for a poltergeist but when a ghost is throwing objects it tends to just be a push when a poltergeist throws an object however it looks like an actual throw im talkin a CHUCK across the room. Also if it is hunting and seems to be throwing many many objects that is because a poltergeist will always throw an item every half second whilst hunting. Any other ghost has a 50 percent chance to throw an object every half of a second.
banshee
banshee(my 2nd fave ghost):it will only target one person at random while hunting but if the random person it chooses is not in the house it just hunts like normal. To test just have one person go out and try to get the ghosts attention if it just doesnt care its most likely a banshee (or its just broken). Also when its hunting it more likely to sing instead of the other options (including ghost events). On the topic of hunts with the targeting only one player and such it just focuses on the persons sanity (in the van or not) eg. targets sanity is 15 percent whilst average is 75 percent. ALSOOOOO it has a 33 percent chance to scream in the parabolic microphone rather then whisper.
jinn
jinn:the most prominent trait of the jinn is that it will not turn off the breaker ever. However if it is hunting the breaker is on AND your in line of sight it will move at a faster sped (what a payoff). The jinn can also drain the sanity of all players within 3 metres of the ghost this will ALSO give off an emf reading on the breaker so i would suggest leaving an emf by the breaker if you get a emf when nothing has been thrown or the breaker has not been touched it is prob a jinn
mare
mare:a mare can never turn on a light if it does then you can rule out this ghost. If the lights in the room are off the hunt sanity threshold is 60 percent is they are on it is 40 percent. When you turn on a light the mare has a chance to turn it back off immediately do note that just by coincidence ANY ghost could do this but it is way more common in mares. It will also interact less if the room lights are on. Mares are also more likely to perform ghost events that shatter lights (nothing to do with the breaker though). It will also roam less into lit rooms rather then dark rooms.
revenant
revenant:when its hunting it moves at about half the normal sped of a standard ghost. HOWEVER if it detects a player or is moving to the last known location of the player it will move at almost TWICE the normal sped of ghosts. If it cannot catch you it will slowly decrease its sped back down to 1m/s taking about 3 seconds.
shade
shade(3rd fav ghost):shades will tend to not perform interactions (except maybe ghost writing) if one or more players are in the room (note it is possible for the ghost to wander outside of its room then do these events). If it is summoned with a summoning circle or a music box it has a chance to appear as a shadow instead of a full ghost.(im getting lazy so im just going copy and past from the wiki sue me). The chance of ghost events is tied to average sanity; the success rate of ghost events will increase gradually as sanity decays, capping at 50% where an attempted ghost event will always succeed. If the ghost performs a ghost event while average sanity is still high, then it is less likely (though not impossible) to be a Shade.
Shades have a hunt sanity threshold of 35%. If the average sanity of the team is very low but hunts remain relatively sparse or do not occur at all, it might be a sign that the ghost is a Shade.
Shades tend to prefer airball ghost events over manifesting. If it does manifest, it will prefer (though not always use) the shadow-type ghost form.
demon
demon:demons have a hunt cooldown of 20 seconds rather then the standard 25 seconds not including cursed hunts. Demons can start a hunt below an average sanity of 70 percent rather then the normal 50 percent. They can also hunt at any sanity but its rarer. smudging will prevent standard hunts for just a minute rather then 90 seconds if it does hunt after 90 seconds you cant REALLY rule out demon.
The range of a crucifix is expanded to 5meters instead of 3meters. A crucifix being used while still on the van wall on 42 Edgefield Road means its prob a demon (usually its in the garage if this happens).
yurei
yurei:yureis can drop the sanity of all players within 7.5meters of it by 15 percent while also sharply shutting a door. If a door DOES slam shut from being fully open that is a strong sign of yurei not a clean cut "its a yurei" this also wont work in a hunt/event or if the room it is doesnt have a door (like a loser). Keep in mind any ghost CAN shut a door fully but its done way more often by a yurei IF this occurs on the exit door (not including a hunt/event) it is DEFINITELY a yurei. To test for a yurei use a smudge near the ghost it cannot leave its room for 90 seconds you can place a motion censor at the door if it doesnt leave the room within the 90 seconds it COULDDDD be a yurei.
oni
oni:(im getting lazy again so more copy and pasting!1!) The Oni will never cause ghost events where it appears as a smoke and hisses at a player. An Oni can be ruled out if the ghost does such an event. The Oni can still hiss as part of a manifestation ghost event.
Some maps have a larger mist that will fly out of the building in a straight line and disappear. This will also never appear if the ghost is an Oni.
Onis will be visible for a longer period when flickering during hunts. Seeing a ghost that doesnt disappear as often as other ghosts during a hunt gives it out as an Oni.During ghost events, the Oni is more likely to use its full ghost model rather than a shadow or a translucent form.
Onis will drain double the normal sanity amount during a ghost event (20% instead of 10%). Noticing a player that has witnessed one or more ghost events and experienced a higher sanity drop than expected is a good sign of an Oni.
yokai
yokai: when hunting a yokai can only here player voices and devices in a 2.5 meter range on nightmare mode this can be tested by standing in a room with a sumdge (pefered to be far away from the door with the said door closed) and talking or turning a flashlight or something. If the ghost is nearby (and your not in line of sight) and doesnt come to your room it may be a yokai keep in mind it might just roam into your room by pure luck (not really luck you you get it) so doing the test maybe more then once would be handy. While talking near the ghost its sanity-hunt ratio is increased to 80 percent compared to the normal 50 percent. Talking alot near a yokai will make it big mad and try to throw something at you however since it doesnt have eyes it cant see that good so it will just push stuff around.
hantu
hantu: a hantus sped during a hunt depends on the temperature of the room it is make sure the fuse box on and listen to its feet (foot steps) when its hunting if it is faster in the ghost room then outside it is most likely a hantu. Alternatively, turn the fuse box off, then listen out for its footsteps over several hunts. A hantu unlike the jinn will never turn ON the breaker if the breaker is off when hunting it will breath the cold air thing that happens when its cold. It is also twice as likely to turn of the breaker as other ghosts. If you are on a mode with less the three evidences then the hantu will ALWAYS have freezing as an evidence.
goryo
goryo: you can only this little critter scadaddle through the dots on a video camera while not near it (most times out of the room) if you see it only on the camera its like 99 percent goryo i think (or your teammates are just blind dump them OR even better a meat shield). A goryo will also never change rooms (thank god) so if it does then its not a goryo if you arent sure however you can use a cursed possession (if you have it) like oujia board or cursed mirror. It is also less likely to wander that far (not including hunts and events). It will ALSOOOO have dots as one of its evidence 100 percent of the time.
the twins
twins(theirs is REALLY long so more copy and pasting yay!!!1!!1):The Twins have a chance of interacting with the environment almost simultaneously; noticing two interactions occuring in very quick succession at two separate locations, and this happening relatively frequently, is a very strong sign of The Twins. However, this may easily go unnoticed if players are strictly focused on investigating in or around the ghost room, as the decoy Twin could possibly be far away from the "main" Twin. Leaving an active EMF reader inside the ghost room while doing something else might potentially help players identify Twins if an interaction is noticed somewhere and the EMF reader is heard going off inside the ghost room at the same time.
Each Twin has a different moving speed during hunts. The main Twin will be 10% slower than the standard ghost speed while the secondary Twin will be 10% faster. Noticing a subtle change in speed from one hunt to another might be an indicator of The Twins.As the name implies, The Twins effectively appears to be two separate entities, though code-wise it is only one. The "main" Twin can provide all three pieces of evidence, while the "decoy" Twin can only give EMF Level 5, and cannot be detected with motion sensors. Noticing multiple disturbances far away from the ghost room but failing to get any response on the Spirit Box or reading any significant temperature drop in the vicinity is a likely indicator of the decoy Twin causing disturbances.
Similarly, if there are motion sensors nearby, noticing interactions occuring in the area but without the motion sensor ever being set off is a potential sign that it is the decoy Twin.
Note that interactions for all ghosts happen in a radius confined to the same floor. This means that any ghost could interact through the wall. Having two interactions at reasonably different times in adjacent rooms does not necessarily indicate that the ghost is The Twins.
If Twins are suspected, searching around the building for items that have been displaced or thrown on the floor or lights that have been unexpectedly turned on far away from the ghost room might help narrow down the ghost type. Note that this is more useful before the ghost has had the chance to hunt; ghosts can throw objects during hunts, so be careful not to be misled.
When The Twins attempt to initate a hunt, there is a 50% chance of it to occur at the main Twin, and a 50% chance for it to occur from the decoy Twin. This means that The Twins can hunt while they are far from one another. Noticing a hunt starting unusually far away from the ghost room or multiple hunts each occuring in vastly different locations might be a sign of The Twins.
Crucifixes will only check for the main Twin when blocking hunts, regardless of which location the ghost is attempting to hunt from.
raiju
raiju(MY FAV!!1!!1): when hunting (and i think ghost events) if it is 6 to 10 meters near an active electronic its sped will instead be 2.5m/s if the ghost is moving faster then normal next to an electronic it may be a raiju. also while hunting and in ghost events it can make the electronics go buzz (i didnt know how else to say it :,) ) if its 15 meters away rather then the normal 10 meters. On a mode like nightmare (or that just has 2 evidences) if you get emf 5 and ghost orbs.. leave. No really you can leave because the only other ghost is an obake and an obake will always have finger prints as an evidence so you can just rule out obake and go with raiju. Oh yeah if there is an active electronic near it (which i can almost guarantee there will be) it can hunt from 65 percent sanity rather then the normal 50.
obake
obake:There is a 16.7% chance that the Obake will leave a special fingerprint not seen with other ghosts. These consist of having six-fingered handprints instead of five, two fingerprints on light switches instead of one, and five fingerprints on keyboards and Prison cell block gates instead of four.
During a hunt, there is a 1 in 15 (~6.67%) chance for the Obake to appear as a different ghost model every time it flickers visible. This will return to normal on the next flicker, and will happen at least once per hunt.
When the Obake interacts with a surface that allows for fingerprints, there is a 75% chance that it will leave fingerprints, as opposed to the standard 100% chance for all other ghosts. Seperately, Obake may also use an ability that halves the remaining duration of existing fingerprints on the map, potentially causing them to disappear within seconds of appearing. If the ghost touches two different surfaces, and leaves fingerprints on one but not another (or the fingerprint disappears much quicker than 2 minutes after the touch), then it is an Obake. (this was also copy pasted)
the mimic
mimic:The Mimic presents Ghost Orbs as a fourth "evidence"; this will always be present even on a 0-evidence difficulty. Conclusively identifying two of The Mimic's main evidences plus Ghost Orbs in Nightmare difficulty confirms that the ghost is The Mimic. On the contrary, if you managed to obtain only one or two (depending on difficulty) of The Mimic's primary evidences and a Ghost Orb, be sure that the ghost doesn't give off another piece of evidence to safely rule out The Mimic.
The Mimic has the ability to replicate other ghosts' abilities, such as the Obake's six-fingered handprint, or hunting sanity thresholds. This could be used against it if it presents an ability while also showing contradicting evidence (such as leaving a six-fingered handprint but creating freezing temperatures, which the Obake does not provide as evidence).
The Mimic will occasionally change the ghost it decides to impersonate during the mission. This might betray The Mimic if the player notices the ghost demonstrating two completely different traits (such as noticing the ghost flickering slower like a Phantom during a hunt, when it was not doing so earlier). Note that the Mimic cannot switch ghosts during a hunt. (this was ALSO copy pasted IM LAZY SUE ME I DONT CARE)
moroi
moroi: when it talks/whispers to you with the spirit box/parabolic microphone you will be cursed (loser) when you are cursed your sanity will drop twice the normal sped it would. Lights dont help you sanity pills do though! (do drugs its good for you). You can look at the sanity board (if you have it) and if the player who got the response sanity is lower then it may be a moroi. It will also become faster the lower the average sanity is on the topic of hunts when smudged the period of time where its dumb and wont see you if doubled (12 seconds instead of 6). ALSO (i keep forgetting to mention stuff lol) like other ghosts it has an evidence that it will never hide that evidence is spirit box :).
deogen
deogen: it always know where everyone is so you cant really run but to test it: because its sped is based on how far away its current target is to test it just stand in a room with a hiding spot but dont go IN the hiding spot preferably far away from the ghost room if it scadaddles quickly to the nearest player and slows down (almost as if it fell flat on its face and now has to crawl or smt) as it gets near you then it is a deogen but keep in mind something like a thaye could just be really fast to start off with so i recommend a smudge or something (or just be fast idk). If you ask any question with the spirit box while standing 1 meter near the ghost it has a 33 percent chance to start just breathing really heavily instead of just talking. I would recommend seting up motion sensors to accurately track the ghost's location and use the spirit box near it. On the topic of evidence 1: it will also have spirit box as an evidence. 2: it is more likely to interact with dots and the ghost book thing. there is no 3.
thaye
thaye: this little creature doesnt speed up when in line of sight with the player its faster early in the contract and slows down over the many hunts it will most likely do so if it doesnt gain a line of sight thingy then its prob a thaye. On Nightmare (or any other difficulty with just 2 evidences) getting the ghost book thing and dots can guarantee its a thaye since the only other ghost that has these two evidences is deogen which has Spirit Box as a guaranteed evidence. a thaye has an "age" that will make him big old so he doesnt want to do nothing. It is more likely to interact with the ghost book thing and dots.
