It's built that high so the factory bridges will pass over mountains without having to change the level. The factories are built in modules. Like when building a motor, the rotor and stator come from two other factories. Each factory is at least 6 tiles away from each other.

This guy over here is making the Japanese meme of "100 times folded steel" look like more like a joke, like somehow I feel this screen has steel folded over a million times, and thats just at the ground level!
