Calamity + Alchemist NPC : EZ Money

The title says it all. All you need is some startup coins (10 Silver Coins and 50 Copper Coins), the Architect NPC from the Alchemist NPC mod, and an Anvil.

The Strategy

With the massive amount of recipes that Calamity adds, one caught my eye for money making purposes. The Sky Mill. 2 Gold Coins for only selling ONE!?

The current Calamity recipe calls for:

• 10 Sunplate Blocks (2.5 Silver Coins)
  
• 5 Cloud (5 Silver Coins)
  
• 3 Rain Cloud (3 Silver Coins)

10 Silver Coins and 50 Copper Coins to only make ONE.
The prices of the blocks are based off of current prices that the Architect from the Alchemist NPC sells the blocks for.

Another post (I couldn't find it, otherwise I would've mentioned who found this information first) mentioned that you could just buy 2 Clay Blocks (2 Copper Coins) from the Architect and make a plate and sell the plate, which gives 30 Copper Coins in return, a 28 Copper profit or a 2:30 input to output ratio. Honestly, doing that is good to start it out but the overall selling price of the plates diminishes after a while since their selling price for each plate isn't that great. Even with an increased max stack size to 9999, for plates you would only be getting 29 Gold Coins, 99 Silver Coins, and 70 Copper Coins per stack. This also requires you to buy 19,998 Clay Blocks, which requires 2 Gold to afford all that Clay.

However, if you eventually decide to switch to Sky Mill selling and buy 100 Sunplate Blocks (25 Silver Coins), 50 Cloud (50 Silver Coins), and 30 Rain Cloud (30 Silver Coins), you would be able to make 10 Sky Mills, which sell for 20 Gold Coins. The input cost required to make the 20 Gold Coins was only 1 Gold Coin and 5 Silver Coins, an almost 19 Gold profit and a 1.05:20 input to output ratio. The sell price for an entire stack of Sky Mills, with the increased max stack size to 9999, would earn you 199 Platinum Coins and 98 Gold Coins.

While the Plate money making method is quite effective early on, the Sky Mill money making method preforms better overall due to the greater profit ratio they have as compared to the Plates. Though the plates are relatively cheap to start your money making schemes, the Sky Mill is the better choice when it comes to making the big bucks.

I deleted a comment on accident that said something along the lines that "this is cheating and that's not how games should be played." I did not mean to delete the comment, I was trying to figure out if I could reply to comments. I wanted to reply that while that is basically true, this is for people who don't want to use a cheat mod itself to just give themselves money, but would rather build it up and feel like some business that sells sky mills for a living (replying to moldy man as well with this). It's a show of the conflict between mods as well, where one creates the path to travel and the other provides the things you need to get through said path. The end result just happens to be very easy money :)

At that point just use the ranger expansion aswell, craft wood into paper. 9999 paper sells for tons

if you are post moonlord, you can buy the moonlord treasure bags and sell everything inside of them for much more. On average you get 6 platinum from each bag when you bought it for 4 platinum
