Insider Report Makes Bold Claim About Hollow Knight: Silksong

The latest report on the upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong suggests not only that the development is going well over at Team Cherry, but also that the players have much to look forward to once it finally hits the stores. Having originally been announced back in 2019, the sequel to the popular Metroidvania has been a long time coming, though there's still no release date for fans to be on the lookout for.

As the fan theories about Hollow Knight: Silksong continue to pop up thanks to the air of mystery surrounding the project, Team Cherry doesn't seem to be in any real rush to release more information about it. With the devs' proven track record, a direct follow-up to one of the most successful indie releases of recent years is bound to perform well no matter what, and sources claim that the waiting will pay off in the end.

According to Graig, the lead playtester working on Hollow Knight: Silksong, the developers over at Team Cherry are trying their best to get the game out as soon as possible. "It is a glorious game worth the wait," he said in his latest post on the game's official Discord server, underlining the already high expectations that the player base has for a Hollow Knight follow-up. While it's almost certain that all the long-time fans believe in the quality of Team Cherry's output, getting such high praise from the lead playtester is fairly important and noteworthy, and it helps assuage any concerns that some of the fans may have had.

As one of the most hotly anticipated indie releases of 2023, Hollow Knight: Silksong is in a uniquely admirable position far as independent video games go. Team Cherry has admittedly been careful not to outright state that the game's coming out this year, but it does seem like a fairly reasonable expectation, considering how long it's been since the devs confirmed that they were, in fact, working on it in the first place.

Few are concerned over the game's quality judging by the overall community outlook, but Silksong's early announcement didn't help its case in any meaningful way. It's difficult for the developer to maintain any amount of meaningful hype over a project that just doesn't seem to be coming out anytime soon, and while Team Cherry itself is fairly tactful in what information it puts out about the game, it still remains to be seen Silksong's eventual release may suffer from such a long turnaround, even if Microsoft claims the game will be out before June 2023.

A Hollow Knight: Silksong demo could help in this regard, of course, but it doesn't appear that Team Cherry has any real plans to put one out. Whatever the case may be, it's exceedingly likely that the developer will start a comprehensive hype campaign at least a few months ahead of the game's release, meaning that it's unlikely to get a surprise launch as Hi-Fi Rush did.
