Male Protagonist Social Link Guide

Any information you may need for all male protagonist social links, such as rank up requirements, gift choices, dialogue choices, and even phone invitations can be found here. This'll help you with planning ahead for maxing out Social Links, or just to make sure you didn't miss a special event cutscene for your favorite character.

Understanding the Social Link System

Social links are a key mechanic in the persona series and represents the bonds that you form with people throughout your journey. In Persona 3 Portable, there are 22 social links altogether, with a few that rank up via story progression, but most following a point system for rank up.



Once your Charm social stat is maxed in P3P, you are given an additional social point multiplier of 1.5x that stacks with having a matching persona as the social link you gain points for. So it's important to max this early during your first playthrough.

Some changes have also been made to the social links since Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES, namely removing some of the negative social link aspects such as the reversal mechanic which triggers when you don't hang out with that particular person frequently enough before you've maxed out the social link. Social link reversals still exist, but they are much more manageable now, as they can only occur when you pick the wrong dialogue choices during rank up. You also no longer lose social link points for picking an answer they dislike, and refusing date invitations won't have any adverse effects.

Here are some ways you can earn points for social links that rank up through the point system:

• Spend time with them (or rank up interaction)
  
• Choose dialogue response that make them happy
  
• Give them a gift while hanging out
  
• Drawing a fortune at the shrine
  
• Meeting them during your evening walk

Female Protagonist?

In Persona 3 Portable, you can choose between playing as the male or female protagonist. The social link data in this guide is specific to the male protagonist, as there are various differences between the two.

You don’t need one to start the Social Link, and the same goes for Rank 2 event, but it’s better to start carrying them by that point to build that habit.

I believe reversed social links are still possible in P3P in certain situations, but they're no longer as strict or often as in P3 FES. As long as you follow this guide's dialogue choices, you should be able to avoid them (aside from certain forced ones).

Can you still reverse social links as male protagonist there? I have read conflicting information that in P3P you can still reverse SLs although only the romanceable ones. How can i avoid reversing social links if its still possible to do so

On Lovers 9, the second choice / "......" is the correct one. "Um..." doesn't give any from what I saw (matching arcana, max charm)
