Mini-Game Collection History
In the original PC and Gamecube release of Sonic Adventure DX there were exclusive unlockables under the Mini-Game Collection, which gave you proper emulated ports of various Sonic titles from the Game Gear, this feature for unknown reasons was excluded from ports made afterwards.

What most people are led to believe however is that these games have been completely removed from the Steam release, which is simply not the case, as you can still find, decompress and play the ROMs left in the files, essentially allowing for an official method of getting and playing these titles.

List of Game Gear Games
  • Sonic The Hedgehog
  • Sonic The Hedgehog 2
  • Sonic Chaos
  • Sonic Triple Trouble
  • Sonic Blast
  • Sonic Spinball
  • Sonic Labyrinth
  • Sonic Drift
  • Sonic Drift 2
  • Tails Adventure
  • Tails' Skypatrol
  • Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

The Japanese versions of Sonic Chaos and Sonic Triple Trouble are also included in the files, so if you're a fan of their original names (Sonic & Tails 1 and 2) you're in luck.
Locating ROMs from the PC Version
1. You will need to download PRS Utils[www.romhacking.net] to decompress the ROMs once we get them.
UPDATE: Because Romhacking.net will be closing down here's a mirror link for PRS Utils which you will need in order to decompress the ROMs: PRS Utils Mirror Download[drive.google.com]

2. Go to Sonic Adventure DX's Steam directory and open the System folder, the ROM files can be found here.
They will all be under the .PRS format, by typing .PRS in the search bar you should have all of the 14 files, of which only one will not be needed, as PRS.PRS is a decompressor used by the game in order to have them work in-game, even if unused.

Converting ROMs to usable format
3. Copy the files to a new folder.

4. Open prs-utils.rar and extract the file "prsdec auto.exe" into the same folder as the .PRS files.

5. Run prsdec auto.exe

6. 14 .bin files will have been created, which we will now need to rename from .bin to .gg so they're playable in emulators, which can be done individually or automatically through a .bat file.

(Optional)
7. To create the .bat file, open Notepad and enter
ren *.bin *.gg
Click "Save As" and change the extension from .txt to .bat and have it saved under the folder with the .bin files.
Happy Emulating!
After you open the .bat or have renamed all of the files, all of your roms will be ready for play with any emulator of your choosing.

They cannot be unlocked in this version of the game, the screenshot used for the Mini Game Collection was from the Gamecube version, but luckily for us the roms are still available in the files.

Yup BetterSADX brings back this feature although a little jank since you can't play the games in windowed mode from what I saw, but I didn't know about PkR until now, thanks for letting me know

I think it's included in PkR's Mod Installer as an in game feature. I don't know for sure though. I do know it was included in BetterSADX, but that's deemed outdated now so...

I always wondered if it is possible to extract the Game Gear ROMs from SADX.
Thank you!
