General Electric EF-4 'Little Joe'

Description
The mighty General Electric EF-4 Little Joe is now available for Transport Fever 2!

10/31/24: Complete remaster has been published! Half the mod size, with more detail! See changelog for details.

The GE EF-4 began life in the 1940s as an export project for the USSR. The first prototype made its first test run in 1948, and after a little time, 20 were built and ready to be exported to the Soviet Union. This, however, never happened; the units were barred from export due to sanctions as a result of the Cold War. Instead, three went to the South Shore Railroad, five went to the Companhia Paulista de Estradas de Ferro of Brazil, and the remaining 12 went to the legendary Milwaukee Road.

These units have been modeled with each railroad in mind; railroad-specific details have been included, such as different pantograph details, snow plows and headlights! Every single railroad that operated the Little Joe has been included.
The units included are:
  • Milwaukee Road #E20
  • Milwaukee Road #E21
  • South Shore Railroad #803
  • Companhia Paulista #6451
  • FEPASA #6455
Also included is a recolorable unit, modeled after the GE demonstrator livery.
All units are available in 1948, apart from the FEPASA unit, which is available in 1971. Also included are two back-to-back multiple unit configurations for the Milwaukee Road units, with units E21 and E77 together, and units E20 and E70 together. This is available as the Milwaukee Road deactivated one of the two cabs in their units, frequently operating them back-to-back.

Here are the locomotive's performance statistics:
  • Top Speed: 68MPH
  • Power: 5,530hp
  • Tractive effort: 75,761lbf
  • Weight: 247.5t
It should be noted that this mod may be slightly performance-heavy; it does not currently include LODs, which are planned to be added in the future.

Finally, a very, VERY big thank you to all who helped make this project become a reality. This is my first full locomotive model, and it would not be possible without some very important people in the modding community. TheMeatballHero has helped me endlessly with questions from the most basic of blender processes all the way through substance painter, photoshop, and the model editor. Without him, this locomotive would not have happened. Special thanks to a few others who contributed to this project: thank you to MrCheesecake, who made some excellent horn and bell sounds to compliment the model; to Modelcitizen, who provided the couplers and hoses used in this model; to Logan, who gave me an excellent smart material for texturing; and thank you to all those in the Transport Fever North America server for helping me find resources and answer the countless questions I've had over the months!

@Kozeniauskas, as CrashCast said, the V8 is a 2-C+C-2 and it's quite smaller, the Little Joes were known as "Russas" in Brazil

@kozeniaukas, the V8 is a different locomotive, based off of the New Haven EP-4. See below for more.

@JoTrain this is a different locomotive entirely from the V8; the V8 is designed off of the New Haven EP-4, which is in a 2-3-3-2 configuration, instead of this locomotive's 2-4-4-2 configuration.
